Xue Shen agreed, called the shopkeeper over, threw him a silver ingot, and borrowed the kitchen and vegetables. He then instructed Liu Yun to prepare lunch.
When he was away from home, he naturally didn't feel comfortable entrusting Shen Youying's meals to others.
The shopkeeper glanced at the heavy silver ingot in his hand, beamed with joy, and called over a waiter to take Liuyun to the kitchen.
When Shen Youying arrived at the guest room, Fu Cui had hot water brought over so she could bathe and wash herself. After she had tidied herself up and changed into clean and comfortable clothes, Liu Yun had already prepared lunch and brought it over.
Liu Yun's cooking skills are no worse than those of a master chef. Shen Youying was tired from the long journey, but her appetite was much better than before.
Xue Shen finished eating before picking up her bowl and chopsticks and using up the rest.
"Shall we take a walk to digest our food? We estimate we'll stay in the village for two days to gather information before heading back the day after tomorrow. These two days will be a good time to rest and replenish our food and water."
Shen Youying shook her head, covered her lips and yawned softly, saying, "Go ahead and do your work, don't worry about me. I'll read for a while and then take a nap."
Xue Shen did have things to do, but seeing her rosy complexion and relaxed expression, he nodded, placed a light kiss on her forehead, and instructed, "Then you should rest well. If you want to go out for a walk, be sure to bring your guards. I will come back as soon as I have arranged things."
Shen Youying hummed in agreement and waved her hand, signaling him to hurry up and get busy.
Xue Shen smiled and then strode out.
He didn't go anywhere else; he went straight to the alley next to the inn.
Several masked men were lying haphazardly in the alley. Xue Shen's expression immediately turned cold. He casually glanced at them and asked, "Is it cleaned up?"
The guard replied, "These are just the first wave of small fry; the truly powerful ones are still observing."
Xue Shen nodded and said, "Keep a close eye on them, don't let anything go wrong. Take these people in for questioning, see if you can get any information out of them."
