Xue Shen's smile vanished. He turned to look at him and asked, "How does it feel to witness your loved ones suffer?"
Anniversary's cheeks puffed out, his face contorted in a grimace, and he offered no reply.
Xue Shen chuckled and ordered his men to put the two down and take them back to the prison.
"If you miss a single word, those two will have to live another day in such agony. You should think it over carefully."
After a moment of hesitation, Zhou Nian had to face the situation and told the truth: "Yelü Nanxian came to me and said she could avenge me."
As expected, it was Ye Lunanxian. Xue Shen's eyes darkened, and he touched the sword at his waist.
What did you say to her?
I told her that there were still a few poisonous potted plants left in the East Palace, but I don’t know what she will do.
"What else?" Xue Shen asked again.
"The Zhou family has little conflict with me or the Empress. If she wanted to exploit my weakness, her first choice shouldn't be to come to you."

Xue Shen nodded, stood up and said, "Take them back and detain them until autumn to be executed. Find a doctor for those two; just keep them alive."

Xue Shen scoffed, turning back to look at him with disdain: "You have the intention to harm the Empress, so how could you be so naive as to think that I would let you off so easily?"
"If you want me to experience the pain of losing a loved one, why don't you first experience the agony of watching your loved ones suffer the agony of being unable to live or die?"
After saying that, Xue Shen turned and left without hesitation.
All that remained was Anniversary's frenzied shouting and cursing.
