The two had no choice but to go up to the second floor.
As they went downstairs, the Crown Prince was coming up from the first floor with his entourage. Upon seeing Shen Youying, he greeted her kindly, "Sister-in-law."
Others probably didn't expect the Crown Prince to be so close to Shen Youying, and couldn't help but look at her in surprise.
Shen Youying curtsied and respectfully addressed him as "Crown Prince".
Lu Minghe, standing beside her, gave her a deep look and, while the Crown Prince was talking to the others, asked in a low voice, "Cousin, are you alright?"
Shen Youying looked up at him, then lowered her eyelashes again: "Thank you for your concern, Lord Lu. I am fine."
Lu Minghe was stung by her distant and indifferent expression. He wanted to say something, but there were too many people around, and the Crown Prince was also nearby, so he could only suppress the words that were about to come out of his throat.
Shen Youying and Xie Qinglan went to sit down with the women.
The prince talked for a while with the young men on the boat about the naval exercises at Jinming Pond before returning to his own ship.
After the sailors removed the bridge between the two ships, the Crown Prince glanced at Lu Minghe, who was staring absentmindedly at the opposite pleasure boat, and said, "When I asked you why you changed your ambitions, you didn't explain why. Now it seems that this is your reason?"
Lu Minghe stood on the deck, his robes fluttering in the wind blowing across the river.
"yes."
The Crown Prince sighed and said frankly, "Although my sister-in-law and the King of Qin were betrothed by the Emperor, I have observed that they treat each other with respect and courtesy, and it is not a forced marriage."
"The King of Qin is my brother, and you now follow me, so you are also my right arm. A beautiful woman is sought after by a gentleman, and I understand that you admire her. But if you harbor thoughts of one day seizing another man's wife when you rise to the highest position, then I may not be the right person for you. Do you understand?"
Lu Minghe turned around, looking directly at the Crown Prince, unafraid of his power: "If she willingly stays in the Prince of Qin's mansion, I will not interfere. But if she is forced... I have already wronged her once, and I will never do it again."
The crown prince was startled by the deep gloom in his eyes. He sighed, patted his shoulder, and said with certainty, "Then you are probably destined to be disappointed."
