4. Garden
"If you refuse, I'll kiss you."
After Jiang Yan finished his court, he returned to his house and did not see Cui Huaifeng. He asked the maid, "Where is Zhengjun?"
The maidservant said respectfully, "My Lord, Mr. Zheng is in the garden right now."
Jiang Yan nodded and walked quickly towards the garden.
The autumn atmosphere deepens in the garden, the maple trees are bright red, the ginkgo trees are bright yellow, and the fallen leaves drift slowly in the wind.
Cui Huaifeng sat in the pavilion in the middle of the garden, holding a book, immersed in it, his expression calm and peaceful.
Shi Liu and Xiang Jin, who were waiting outside the pavilion, saw Jiang Yan approaching and greeted him.
Cui Huaifeng paused after hearing the greeting and continued reading.
Jiang Yan walked to Cui Huaifeng's side and asked him with a smile, "What book are you reading?"
Cui Huaifeng finished reading, turned the page, and replied without looking up, "Zuo Zhuan."
Jiang Yan sat on the stool next to Cui Huaifeng, looked at Cui Huaifeng with her beautiful eyes, stretched out her arms, and said with a smile: "Come here."
Jiang Yan's meaning was obvious. Cui Huaifeng just wanted to read quietly and didn't want to accompany her to do such boring things.
Jiang Yan saw his reluctance and coaxed him, "I just haven't seen you all morning and I want to be close to you. You're just reading, so let's compromise. You read yours and I'll hold mine. I won't disturb you."
Cui Huaifeng glanced at the two people outside the pavilion and became even more unwilling. He was ashamed to get close to them in front of others.
Jiang Yan didn't care about this. She gradually lost her patience and threatened in a low voice: "If you don't agree, I will kiss you."
Cui Huaifeng was shocked and hesitated. He still had a glimmer of hope in his heart. He thought Jiang Yan would not do anything out of line in front of his servants.
Unexpectedly, Jiang Yan stood up and bent down to kiss his lips.
Cui Huaifeng's pupils shrank suddenly, and the scroll in his hand fell to the ground. He tried to push Jiang Yan away, but Jiang Yan saw through his intention and pinched his wrist instead.
Cui Huaifeng was both embarrassed and annoyed, and accidentally slapped Jiang Yan in the face while struggling.
The loud slap startled the four people present, and the atmosphere was frighteningly cold.
Jiang Yan stared at Cui Huaifeng blankly. When he came to his senses, he was no longer angry. He asked the two servants who were so frightened that they lowered their heads and dared not speak to leave.
Cui Huaifeng wanted to show concern for Jiang Yan, but when he thought of what she had done, he trembled with anger, "Jiang Yan! Don't go too far!"
Jiang Yan laughed a few times, then his face darkened and his eyes were cold. "I went too far? I don't think so. I just want to be close to you. What's wrong with repairing our relationship?
But you, why are you still resisting me so much now that Zhao Qiuxin has left? Do you really want to leave her as a widow? But you've only been married for less than a year, what about you and me? My three years of love can't compare to her less than a year of companionship, right? You're being too much, you're being heartless!
You said you would marry me, but what happened?
Cui Huaifeng felt sad and opened his mouth but said nothing.
Jiang Yan felt a little regretful after she finished speaking. How could a man like him disobey his parents' orders and the matchmaker's words? But she couldn't help but complain. Even if the two families were to marry, there were always ways to delay the wedding.
Jiang Yan caught a glimpse of the sadness in Cui Huaifeng's eyes, and felt uncomfortable, so he took a step forward.
Cui Huaifeng subconsciously stepped back, his expression terrified. Jiang Yan was stung by this action, and after a pause, he stepped forward and hugged him, whispering, "I...just said something a little harsh."
Cui Huaifeng was exhausted and didn't want to continue the previous topic, so he shook his head.
Jiang Yan hugged him and gently stroked his back, and both of them gradually calmed down.
Jiang Yan asked uncomfortably, "Are you feeling better?"
Cui Huaifeng nodded.
Jiang Yan then dared to look at Cui Huaifeng, who happened to be looking at Jiang Yan as well. Cui Huaifeng's moist eyes revealed a hint of vulnerability, and Jiang Yan was attracted to him and couldn't help but kiss him.
Cui Huaifeng felt increasingly uneasy. Although Jiang Yan had dismissed the two men, this was outdoors after all, and someone would pass by sooner or later.
He has no idea what Jiang Yan is like now, and he is afraid that Jiang Yan has really lost his mind.
Cui Huaifeng was filled with shame and fear. He trembled slightly in her arms, his fingers clutching her robe tightly. He raised his eyes and begged:
“Please…”
Jiang Yan suddenly felt her blood boiling, and she used all her rationality to keep herself from losing her composure.
However, Huaifeng rarely speaks, and this is a good opportunity to improve their relationship, so she will not let it go easily.
Jiang Yan smiled slightly, already having an idea in mind.
