Chapter 350 Destined to be Childless

When passing by the Guanyin Temple, Chen Afu suggested burning three incense sticks to Guanyin and pray to the Bodhisattva to bless her with a smooth delivery.

Now Chen Afu is absolutely superstitious. She absolutely believes in reincarnation and in the existence of Buddha and Bodhisattva - she has traveled through time, so what is impossible?

In the past, there was a saying that children were not allowed to enter the main hall. They were afraid that they would move around and startle the Buddha and Bodhisattva. So Chen Ahfu asked the two children to wait in the corridor, with ten guards protecting them and five guards following him.

Chen Afu worshipped the Buddha devoutly, donated incense money, and was then helped by Hong Fei to walk out of the hall.

As soon as she walked out of the main hall, Dabao and Yan'er, who were in the corridor, ran towards her holding hands, calling out, "Mother, mother, the Bodhisattva will surely bless you to give birth to two younger brothers."

Both children were led astray by old Marquis Chu and they no longer called each other "sister", but only "brother".

The two children's shouting made the other pilgrims laugh.

Chen Afu blushed. Hong Fei stood in front of Chen Afu and caught the child who rushed over. The two of them eased their strength and pulled Chen Afu's skirt again and said, "Mom, pray to the Buddha, and she will definitely give birth to two younger brothers."

Chen Ahfu said nothing, but smiled and held their hands as he prepared to walk to the corridor, but saw more than a dozen guards surrounding the three of them with alert faces. Two more guards leaned down and held the two young masters in their arms, and Hong Fei also supported her.

She turned her head and saw the person she least wanted to see - Princess Rong Zhao. Rong Zhao came out from the back door of the hall in front and was walking towards her.

When Rong Zhao heard that Chen Afu was pregnant in the capital, she smashed a few tea bowls. Later, she heard that it was twins, and smashed a bunch of decorations. She touched her unpromising belly. Was the title of Prince Consort really going to be passed on to the son born by that bitch? No, absolutely not, she must have a son!

So, she pestered Lord Chu to come to Lingyin Temple again. She said she was here to worship Buddha, but in fact, she was here to ask Master Wuzhi to treat her illness.

Lingyin Temple was of great importance during the Dashun Dynasty, even surpassing the Baoguo Temple in the suburbs of Beijing. One hundred and ten years ago, when Emperor Gaozong of Shun was 40 years old, he suddenly devoted himself to Buddhism and abdicated to the crown prince. He was ordained as a Buddhist in Lingyin Temple and was given the Buddhist name Xuanneng. Master Xuanneng passed away 50 years later, and his relics are still enshrined in the temple.

Master Wuzhi was the nephew of Master Xuanneng, so even the emperor respected him. No one dared to force him to do anything he didn't want to do.

Except for the fact that Master Wuzhi predicted that the south of the Dashun Dynasty would encounter an unprecedented flood 40 years ago, and he treated people during a large-scale epidemic 26 years ago, he never publicly read fortunes for anyone, nor did he publicly treat anyone. But everyone in the Dashun Dynasty, including the royal family, believed that Master Wuzhi was an omnipotent monk.

Forty years ago, the great disaster was saved because the late emperor listened to the master's prediction and made full preparations, saving millions of lives. During that epidemic, Master Wuzhi saved countless lives.

Master Wuzhi was very busy, either traveling, practicing in seclusion, or going out on business. Rong Zhao wanted to try his luck and see if he could find him.

She heard that her second and third brothers were also trying to find the whereabouts of Master Wuzhi, but they stopped trying until the emperor sent them out to deal with disasters and conduct inspections.

If she went to other temples, Lord Chu would not be bothered to accompany her. But if she came to Lingyin Temple, he had to accompany her. Because Yingxue Temple was right here, he was afraid that she would go there to cause trouble.

When Rong Zhao arrived at Lingyin Temple, she went to the meditation room of Master Wuzhi first. This time, Master Wuzhi was not only there, but also agreed to see her, which made Rong Zhao overjoyed.

When she entered the meditation room, Wuzhi only looked at her twice, then clasped his hands together and said, "Amitabha, I'm sorry that you can't cure my illness."

Rong Zhao said angrily, "I am not a doctor, but I still know that to diagnose a disease, one must look, smell, ask, and palpate. Master, you didn't even do the last three. How can you say that you can't cure my disease?"

Master Wuzhi said, "Amitabha, I have seen your face. The donor is destined to be childless."

Rong Zhao was furious. He slammed the table and stood up, saying sternly, "How dare you say that to me!"

Master Wuzhi said calmly, "The female donor came to the temple many times to look for me. Seeing that she was sincere and had some affinity with Buddhism, I told her the truth... Since the female donor doesn't believe me, I'll just pretend I didn't say anything."

Rong Zhao said angrily, "I came to you to see a doctor, not to read your fortune."

Master Wuzhi said, "Amitabha, you are the sixth person who can be fortune-told by Master Na. The sea of suffering is boundless, and there is always a way out. You should take care of yourself, female donor. Amitabha, well done, well done." After saying that, he crossed his legs, closed his eyes, and began to recite the sutra.

Lord Chu, who was waiting outside the meditation room, heard the noise and hurried into the room, holding Rong Zhao and admonishing him, "Princess, be careful with your words. This is Lingyin Temple, and you are facing Master Wuzhi."

He bowed to Master Wuzhi and said, "Master, I'm sorry. Rong Zhao's words were rude. Please forgive me."

Master Wuzhi continued to chant the Buddha's name, as if he didn't hear what he said.

The senior disciple Gui Ling at the side clasped his hands together and said, "Please come in, two donors."

Rong Zhao calmed down. She knew that even though she was a princess, she couldn't act recklessly in Lingyin Temple. She quickly put aside her attitude and begged in tears, "Master, how can I resolve this evil consequence?"

Master Wuzhi clasped his hands together and sat on the kang as if petrified.

Gui Ling said again, "God's will cannot be violated. Two donors, please come in."

Lord Chu then pulled Rong Zhao out.

As soon as Rong Zhao went out, she climbed on Lord Chu's shoulder and started crying, crying heartbrokenly. While crying, she said, "How could this happen? I wanted to give Chu Lang a son with all my heart, so that our bloodline could be passed on. Chu Lang, what should I do? What if I can't give birth to a son?"

Lord Chu's expression was full of secrecy, and he said gently, "Princess, don't be sad. It doesn't matter if you don't have a son. I don't care."

These words seemed to comfort Rong Zhao, but Rong Zhao felt something was wrong. She raised her head and said, "I don't believe that the old monk Wuzhi is more powerful than the Buddha. It's useless to ask him for help. I will ask the Buddha. I will worship all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in the temple one by one." Then, she took Lord Chu to the main hall.

Rong Zhaozhen did as she said. Starting from the first hall, he burned incense and kowtowed to every Buddha and Bodhisattva with utmost piety, not missing any one.

When she was about to go to the Guanyin Temple, she saw a woman with a big belly coming out of the temple. She was upset at the sight of a pregnant woman, and when she looked more closely, she found it was Chen Ahfu, which made her even more upset.

She was wondering whether she should be patient, after all, this was a Buddhist paradise, she was still praying to the Buddha, and Chu Lang was behind her. But she saw two children yelling and rushing towards Chen Afu, saying something like giving birth to two younger brothers. To her, these words were more harsh than any other words.
