Chapter 48 Interested

Wu Changgen and Wu Changsheng drove the ox cart to come. The first two trips were to carry large furniture. They carried the furniture into the house and arranged it according to Chen Afu's requirements.

Once the furniture is put in place, the house feels like a home.

Looking at his new home, Chen Afu smiled. This humble thatched cottage has become his home.

After arranging the items, Chen Ahfu discovered that there were patterns carved on the side of the kang table. She pointed at the kang table and asked, "Big Brother Wu, Second Brother Wu, did you send the wrong item?"

When Wu Changgen saw it, he also felt that it was sent to the wrong person.

Wu Changsheng grinned and said, "You got it right. I carved these patterns on purpose."

Those patterns are branches of plum blossoms. With these small flowers as decoration, the whole small table looks much more beautiful.

Chen Ahfu was very pleased and said with a smile, "Thank you, Brother Wu Er. You put in the effort, and I should make up for the work."

Wu Changsheng waved his hand and said, "Sister Ah Fu, you are too polite. I didn't spend much effort on the pattern, so you don't have to pay. As long as you like it... Oh, I mean, Xiao Shitou often eats your food, so it's only natural that I carve some patterns on him."

Wu Changgen also quickly said, "Yes, yes, Ah Fu, you're welcome."

The third trip of the ox cart was carrying stools, buckets, basins and other small items, and Wu the carpenter also came along.

Chen Ahfu handed him the money, one tael of silver and five strings of big coins. He smiled and said, "Thank you, Uncle Wu, these things are very good."

Carpenter Wu received the money and said with a smile, "As long as Ah Fu likes it. If you need to make furniture in the future, come to Uncle Wu's house again. Uncle will give you a lower price."

He said a few more words to Chen Ming and then left. Wu Changgen followed him, but Wu Changsheng still stood there without moving.

Wu the Carpenter turned around and yelled, "You little bastard, there's still so much work to do at home, why are you still poking there instead of going back to work?"

When Wu Changsheng heard this, his face turned red. He quickly agreed and said to Chen Afu, "Sister Afu, if you have anything to say, just go to my house and tell me, or you can tell Xiao Shitou. Xiao Shitou and Dabao get along well, so, hehe..."

Without waiting for Chen Afu to say anything, he ran away.

Chen Ahfu was somewhat amused. Was the dark-faced young man interested in her? He was the prince charming in many girls' minds. He had a rich family and a skill. He was also relatively clean, had no bad habits, and seemed to have a good temper. He was closer to the "four good" man standards she had set.

If considering among the small farmers in the village, especially after hearing about it from those people, Chen Afu really thinks Wu Changsheng is a good candidate.

It seems that his family's conditions are too good.

Chen Afu was relatively self-aware. If she was getting married, she might still think about it. But she was looking for a son-in-law. His family was so well-off and she had no say. His family would not agree. Just look at the dark face of old man Wu.

As soon as the father and son of the Wu family entered their home, Old Man Wu knocked Wu Changsheng with his pipe and cursed, "You little bastard, what are you thinking about? Ah Fu is pretty, but she has already been established as a daughter-in-law and is looking for a son-in-law. Do you still want to be like Er Laizi and live off her? Why did I raise such a useless thing like you?" Then he knocked him hard a few more times.

Wu Changsheng blushed and whispered, "Ahfu is not only beautiful, but also hardworking, capable, and has a good temperament."

Wu the Carpenter was so angry that he wanted to hit him again, and shouted, "Is she still of good character? Didn't you see how the second beggar was beaten?"

"I didn't see it. If I had seen it, I would have helped Ah Fu to beat that bastard. It's too bullying." Wu Changsheng said hatefully.

On the day when Chen Ah-fu and Er Laizi had a fight, he went to the neighboring village to deliver furniture. When he came back and heard about it, he felt very upset. He felt sorry for Ah-fu, who had just recovered from his illness and was bullied by such a wicked man. If he were there, he would definitely beat Er Laizi.

Carpenter Wu was so angry that he shouted, "No matter what, no matter how good my daughter Ah Fu is, I won't allow you to think about her." Seeing that Wu Changsheng was still stubborn, he bent down, picked up a wooden stick on the ground and wanted to rush over to hit him.

Wu Changgen quickly stopped him and said to Wu Changsheng, "Don't talk back. Look how angry Dad is. Dad said this for your own good. Ah Fu is good, handsome and capable, but she has a female household, so it won't work. Don't even think about becoming a live-in son-in-law. Our Wu family can't afford to lose this person."

The father and son quarreled so badly that Aunt Wu and Changgen's wife came out.

Upon hearing this, Aunt Wu also disapproved and said, "Changsheng, I let you do whatever you want, but this won't work. Ahfu's mental illness has just been cured, and he has a burden, and he's looking for a son-in-law. Although Dabao is a good child, he can't be your son. My son is so handsome and capable, how can he be someone else's son-in-law and help raise someone else's son..." She went on and on, preaching.

Wu Changsheng said in a muffled voice, "Look how anxious you are. It's not certain whether Ah Fu will like me or not. Humph! Anyway, I want to find someone as smart and capable as Ah Fu. I don't want anyone who is dark, rough, lazy, or stupid."

After saying that, he started working quietly. The sound of his small hammer "clang clang clang" was deafening. No matter what they said, he didn't say a word.

Carpenter Wu was so angry that he wanted to rush over and hit him several times, but was persuaded by Wu Changgen and Aunt Wu to go to the living room to rest.

Not only Chen Afu saw Wu Changsheng's misbehavior just now, but Wang and Chen Ming also saw it.

Wang couldn't hide the smile in her eyes, and she and Chen Afu cleaned up the new house together.

Chen Chenfu still had the habit of her previous life. She didn't like the smell of food in her bedroom, nor did she like to do everything in her bedroom. Her bedroom had to be clean without a speck of dust. Even though she was poor now, she would try her best to keep it better. She didn't have the conditions in the old courtyard, but now she could be the master of her own little world, so of course she had to arrange the room according to her own preferences.

Therefore, the east room was only used as a bedroom, and the kang cabinet was placed in this room. There was only a box on the floor, two high stools, and a bronze mirror, perfume, comb, and wooden hairpins were placed on the box. She originally wanted to put the small kang table with carvings over, but she thought that people here were used to eating and working on the kang table, so she held back.

The west room is the living room, with a table on the kang, a table on the floor, and four high stools. This room is used for eating, studying, working, and entertaining guests. This room is also the bedroom of Jin Yanzi, Qiqi, and Huihui. Three beautiful straw baskets are placed at the end of the kang.

Chen Ming, Wang Shi and A Lu all expressed their confusion over her arrangement. They thought that the east room should be used as a bedroom and living room, and the west room should be used as a reception room and a storeroom. They also thought that the kang table and desk should be moved to the east room, which would be much more convenient.

Chen Afu shook his head and insisted on his own idea.

Chen Ming and his companions knew that she had a big idea, so they stopped caring about it.

Wang finally waited until A-Lu was no longer around, and whispered to Chen A-Fu with a smile, "Mother thinks Chang-Sheng is interested in you. What do you think, A-Fu? Chang-Sheng is a good young man, good-looking, and skilled."
