Ye Liang was surprised that Meng Xiaoru would think of asking him this question.
However, since Meng Xiaoru had already asked, Ye Liang was still happy to answer her question and said, "I was just scaring them. I probably wouldn't really kill them."
Hearing this answer, Meng Xiaoru was not surprised at all.
Instead, she was delighted and asked with even greater interest, "Young Master Ye's answer is exactly what I expected. Young Master Ye, you command respect without anger; you don't even need to kill anyone to intimidate them. But, Young Master Ye, aren't you afraid that Senior Sister will be hurt if you hear the truth? Young Master Ye, aren't you worried that Senior Sister will think you're not protecting her enough?"
"Won't!"
The senior sister and the junior sister answered Meng Xiaoru's question in unison.
The unanimous response surprised Meng Xiaoru. She glanced at her junior sister beside her with a strange look, and then at her senior sister, who was driving another carriage.
The two people, not together, in two separate carriages, were thinking the same thing. This naturally made Meng Xiaoru curious about where their confidence in Ye Liang came from.
"Sister Xiaoru, don't listen to Ye Liang's nonsense. He was just joking with you. When he kills for Senior Sister, he doesn't even blink. He probably didn't say that just now to keep a good impression on you and avoid scaring you. Actually, Ye Liang is terrifying when he gets fierce!" The junior sister explained to Meng Xiaoru half-jokingly, to prevent her from having any more questions and asking all sorts of inquiries.
Did Ye Liang really kill someone?
Meng Xiaoru looked at Ye Liang with some surprise. No matter how she looked at him, she couldn't tell that he was a man who had killed people.
You couldn't tell at all that he had any murderous aura about him.
However, Ye Liang did not deny what his junior sister said, which made Meng Xiaoru realize that Ye Liang had indeed killed people.
She fell silent, looking somewhat dejected.
Deep down, he was somewhat disappointed that Ye Liang was a serial killer.
How different is someone like Sun Qingyu from him?
"Bandits have broken into the sect and threatened the safety of my senior sisters. So, my senior sisters and I fought alongside them to protect the sect and killed the bandits."
Ye Liang spoke gently to Meng Xiaoru in a calm tone, perfectly illustrating his junior sister's claim that he had killed someone.
"Is that so? Then even if you really kill indiscriminately, it doesn't matter!" Meng Xiaoru smiled apologetically.
I felt a little ashamed; I shouldn't have gotten so emotional just now.
"However, to be honest, if they really don't know when to stop, I really might kill them! We, the descendants of Yan and Huang, should always keep our word. If we say something, we shouldn't say we weren't warned. We must always do what we say. Otherwise, who will take our words seriously? When we speak, we either don't say anything at all, or when we do, we set a line that will lead to certain death for others. If anyone crosses that line, we will surely punish them no matter how far they go!" After saying this, Ye Liang smiled at Meng Xiaoru, hoping that his words wouldn't frighten her.
But these were Ye Liang's true feelings.
"Young Master Ye! The way you speak is truly different from others. This is the first time I've ever heard someone speak like you. Your words aren't harsh, but they have such a commanding presence. This must be what they mean by charisma!" Meng Xiaoru said, somewhat dazed.
"Really?" Ye Liang laughed heartily. "Hearing you say that makes me feel quite proud. Everyone has to have some unique qualities, right? But once you get to know me, you'll realize that I'm not as amazing as you think. I've actually stolen clothes and food before, but I was caught by my junior sister, who took me in. That's how I got the chance to join the Bixian Sect and become a disciple. You'll find out about these things gradually."
"Really? That's unbelievable!" Meng Xiaoru was even more surprised. It was really hard to believe that a young swordsman as extraordinary as Ye Liang would have once fallen so low as to steal other people's clothes and food to survive.
Knowing about Ye Liang's less-than-honorable past actually made Meng Xiaoru feel that Ye Liang was a more real person.
As evening approached, we were nearing a small town.
Sun Qingyu, who had been following behind with three followers, suddenly spurred his horse and sped up, overtaking Ye Liang's carriage.
As they passed Ye Liang's carriage, Sun Qingyu took the initiative to cup his hands and greet Ye Liang, saying, "Senior sister and junior brother of the Bixian Sect, it's getting late. There's a small town ahead, and I think we'll have to stop here for the night. I'll have my subordinates arrange an inn and dinner in advance so that things will be much easier when we arrive."
Would Sun Qingyu really be so kind? Meng Xiaoru truly felt that when bad people pretend to be good, they can be more considerate than good people.
He was speechless, but he didn't want to expose Ye Liang directly. He just waited to see how Ye Liang would respond.
Ye Liang said, "No need. There should be someone to meet us ahead. Our food and lodging have been arranged along the way."
Upon hearing this, Sun Qingyu's expression immediately became somewhat awkward.
This is wishful thinking on my part. Who would have thought that Ye Liang had already made arrangements?
He immediately cupped his hands and said, "Very well. Then I won't have them prepare anything."
He had hoped to show off his abilities in front of his senior sister, but little did he expect that she had already made arrangements, and this opportunity to perform turned into an embarrassing one.
Sun Qingyu was truly furious with Ye Liang, who had once again made him a ridiculous clown.
At this point, he could only reluctantly call his subordinates back and continue to follow behind the carriage, eating dust.
"Let's see if you made any prior arrangements!" Sun Qingyu was still somewhat unconvinced, waiting to see Ye Liang make a fool of himself and be ridiculed.
