Chapter 642 Unawakable (2/2)

The woman anxiously explained that her husband had been drunk yesterday, but he had been sleeping for almost a day, more than twenty hours, and even if he was still very drunk, he should have sobered up by now.

He used to sleep for a maximum of ten or so hours when he was drunk, never more than twenty hours.

This is clearly not normal!

At first, she thought the same as Village Chief Xu: that her husband was too drunk and hadn't sobered up yet.

But as time ticked by, she still felt something was wrong, so she went to call her man.

To everyone's surprise, despite trying every possible method, they couldn't get the other person to open their eyes and wake up.

Village Chief Xu was still not quite convinced, so he decided to try it himself.

Upon entering the man's room, they found him fast asleep on the bed, his shouts deafening.

You can tell just by looking at her how soundly she's sleeping.

This man was quite carefree; he got drunk, collapsed onto the bed, and fell into a deep sleep, completely oblivious to his wife's worries as she worked.

So Village Chief Xu simply ordered a woman to bring a basin of water and splashed it directly onto the man's face.

He figured that if he poured that basin of water on the man, he wouldn't believe he wouldn't wake up.

To his surprise, the man's hair was soaked after he poured the basin of water on him, but he still didn't wake up!

Village Chief Xu, refusing to believe in superstitions, stepped forward and patted the man's face again.

There was still no response from the other party.

But when he reached out and felt the man's pulse, it was normal.

His breathing and pulse were normal, but he couldn't be woken up no matter what he did.

This scene looks so familiar. Wasn't that old lady in front of me the same way?

This is really strange. How come both of them are experiencing the same thing at once?

However, this is ultimately their family matter, so Village Chief Xu could only offer some advice for now.

The advice given was similar to that given to the old lady earlier: let the woman observe for a while longer, and maybe things will get better.

If all else fails, we'll have to take the person to the hospital.

Women also know that ultimately, the decision to make is their own.

She could only wait and see if her man would wake up after sleeping a little longer.

Meanwhile, Village Chief Xu found it rather strange that there were two people in the village who couldn't be woken up.

Could it be that these two people both have the same disease?

Otherwise, he simply couldn't understand why someone could be in perfect physical condition but still not wake up.

Moreover, it's rather frightening that both of them are in this situation at the same time.

But then he thought about it. One was an elderly woman in her seventies, and the other was a person who drank heavily and was often drunk.

Both of them are actually quite prone to the situation of "not waking up after a long sleep".

However, since they were his own villagers, he still hoped that they were just "oversleeping" and would wake up soon.

After that, Village Chief Xu would observe the two families from time to time.

Unfortunately, neither the old woman nor the man who had fallen asleep drunk woke up until the next morning.

But their breathing and pulse were still normal, just like yesterday.

Knowing they couldn't delay any longer, the two families quickly took the person to the hospital.

Village Chief Xu could only hope that the two families would send back good news.

While he was waiting for news from the old lady and the drunk man's family, he heard someone shout that something had happened at home.

Village Chief Xu had no choice but to run in that direction without stopping to see what had happened.

To his utter surprise, what happened to this family was exactly the same as what happened to the old lady and the drunk man: someone in the family just fell asleep and couldn't be woken up.

This time, the child who couldn't be woken up was only ten years old.

Because it's a holiday today, the child slept in, and the family didn't bother to wake him up. They figured it was a rare holiday, so they let him sleep a little longer.

As a result, the child has been sleeping since 10 p.m. last night, and a full twelve hours have passed, yet there is still no sign of the child waking up.

It was almost lunchtime, and since the child hadn't eaten breakfast, the parents decided to wake them up if they didn't eat lunch soon.

Then when they tried to wake the child, they found that they couldn't wake him up no matter what they did.

When Village Chief Xu heard about the situation, he was immediately at his wit's end.

She rushed to the child's room to check on him and found him sleeping soundly. She realized that he was probably in the same situation as the old lady and her husband.

Normally, he would have suggested that they observe the child further, but given the example of those two, Village Chief Xu dared not let them observe the child any longer and instead told them to take the child to the hospital for a checkup.

After all, barring any unforeseen circumstances, the child will probably sleep through another night without waking up.

So it's best to take him to the hospital as soon as possible.

The child's parents didn't dare to delay. Seeing that the others had no way to wake the child, they immediately took the child to the hospital.

Seeing the family rushing to the hospital, Village Chief Xu felt increasingly uneasy.

He always felt that things weren't that simple.

The main problem is that three similar incidents occurred at once, and no abnormalities were found in any of the unconscious individuals, which is truly unsettling.

Especially since these incidents all occurred in their village, it's no wonder that Village Chief Xu, as the village head, couldn't feel at ease.

He waited anxiously in the village for news from the three families. As it was getting dark, one of the old lady's family members finally returned.

The other party came back to pick up some things, saying that the hospital had not yet found the reason why the old lady was unconscious and needed to be hospitalized for further examinations.

Subsequently, the same news came from the drunk man's wife: the child was also hospitalized, just like the previous two.

Although the hospital hasn't reached any conclusions yet, the fact that nothing bad was found is actually good news.

Village Chief Xu couldn't treat any illnesses, so he could only pray that the three people could be diagnosed and recover as soon as possible.

Of course, he also hoped that such a thing would never happen again in their village.

Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned. The day after the three went to the hospital, another person in the village fell into a coma.

The person who couldn't be woken up this time was a young man, not yet thirty years old. He was usually in good health, had no bad habits, and had a very healthy lifestyle.

He's the kind of person who's immune to illness, unlike anyone else in the village.

But surprisingly, this strong and healthy young man also experienced a situation where he couldn't be woken up while sleeping.

The more Village Chief Xu thought about it, the more he felt something was wrong.

Is this really a sign of illness?

But why did he feel that these people were more like they were cursed or under some kind of spell than sick?
