Chapter 100 Giving birth to a baby

At this moment, Song Shuyao was standing in the bedroom of the villa, feeling a little dazed. Was she back?

Song Shuyao stood up and walked to the floor-to-ceiling glass window. She suddenly pulled open the curtains with force. At that moment, sunlight shone in, and tiny dust particles flew in the light. The familiar green trees were still in sight, but she could not see further. The land of the villa that did not belong to her was covered with white mist, as if separating it into two worlds.

She had some guesses in her mind and walked downstairs step by step. When she was about to walk out of her villa and touch the white mist, an invisible force blocked her way and she could not get out.

If I guessed correctly... Song Shuyao thought of Jiang Shuyao's small room in 1962, silently muttering to herself to leave. In a blink of an eye, the scene had indeed changed again, and she was back in 1962. No, strictly speaking, perhaps she had always been in 1962, and the villa was just her space, not a return to the 21st century.

Song Shuyao is not obsessed with online novels, but she has heard of things about time travel. After all, she will occasionally pick up some books to read when she has nothing to do. She reads all kinds of books, not just famous writers. She will take a look if she finds them interesting, and will study the ones she likes.

Although she moved out of her home at the age of eighteen, her biological father did not kill her, and she did not embezzle the inheritance left to her by her biological mother. She was also able to make money and had never had to worry about money. She had no family or relatives, so she could live her life as she pleased. Therefore, she was not ignorant, and had a good acceptance of strange things. Her thinking and imagination were online. After several experiments, she quickly figured out the nature of the villa. As she guessed, this was an independent space that could be entered by people or consciousness, and objects could be put in and taken out. As for whether others could enter, she had no conclusion for the time being, but she did not plan to conduct experimental research. The existence of the villa space could only be a secret that belonged to her alone. She always understood that a man is guilty of possessing a treasure even if he is innocent.

With the space, Song Shuyao felt a little more secure. She didn't want to become Jiang Shuyao, but the matter was done. It was obvious that the possibility of her going back was very low, so having this villa space in the 1960s was a bit of a guarantee.

Song Shuyao left the bowl in the room and did not take it out. She did not want to face the original owner's family members for the time being. She might be able to hide it from one or two people, but now all her closest relatives were there, she was worried that she would reveal something. It was better for her to show up less and talk less. It happened that the original owner was in a bad mood because of the marriage and fell ill, so she could use this as a cover-up. She would wait until she completely digested the original owner's memories and adapted to the identity of Jiang Shuyao.

The Jiang family did not come to disturb Song Shuyao as she wished. After all, the younger sister had reasons to be in a bad mood, and as brothers and sisters, they could understand. Even if the sisters-in-law and sons-in-law felt a little resentful that Song Shuyao did not come out to talk to them, they would not say it openly. They had to be tactful because of the relationship between them, so as not to make everyone unhappy. Moreover, no matter how you look at it, Jiang Shuyao is destined to be more promising than them, so there is no need to offend others for the sake of momentary verbal pleasure. After dinner, they talked for a while and then went their separate ways. There is no such thing as a weekend off in this era. One day off is good enough. When it is busy, they have to work overtime. If they work one day less, they will be deducted money. Naturally, they will not stay.

The eldest and second daughters returned to their husband's family home, while the youngest son and his wife lived outside. Both of them were working parents, and they had also bought a one-bedroom apartment for their children a few years ago. They would come to visit Jiang's father and mother whenever they were free, give them gifts during the holidays, and pay some money for their retirement. It was considered a division of the family.

The eldest son naturally lived with Jiang's parents, providing for them in their old age. He had two children, both girls, not too old, six and four years old, who usually shared a room with their parents. Jiang's parents lived in another room, with a small room partitioned off for the unmarried Jiang Shuyao, her boudoir. The eldest daughter-in-law knew about this before she married, but she couldn't say anything, nor did she dare to. After all, she hadn't given birth to a son yet, so she didn't dare to speak out.

While city dwellers aren't as patriarchal as rural residents, they still favor boys over girls. This is a common trait of the era. Even in later generations, when gender equality is advocated, women's status will always be lower. Jiang's mother also favors boys over girls, but her preference isn't too extreme. She didn't say she'd torture her eldest daughter-in-law for giving birth to two girls. It's good to have a blossoming relationship before it bears fruit. She had also given birth to two daughters and then a son, but she'd always preferred a son.

After the eldest daughter-in-law gave birth to her second granddaughter, she encountered the three-year disaster. She lost her pregnancy at that time, and because the infant mortality rate was so high during that period, she didn't dare to have another child. Now that things are better and she's recovered, she's ready to get pregnant again. Jiang's mother hopes for a boy, otherwise she'd be ridiculed for having three girls in a row and end up with no family, which would be stressful. The eldest daughter-in-law, however, hopes for a boy in her next pregnancy, fearing that conflicts between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law and family would flare up. However, she can't force it; she can only pray silently.

After cleaning up the dishes, taking a shower, and chatting outside, it's almost time to go to bed. People these days go to bed early, and going to bed at ten o'clock is considered staying up late. Only those who work the night shift are still not asleep at this time. Most people have basically turned off the lights and gone to bed.

Before going to bed, Jiang's mother came in to check on Song Shuyao again. After confirming that her condition had not relapsed, she went to sleep with peace of mind. After they all fell asleep, Song Shuyao entered the villa to take a shower.

Jiang's mother thought Song Shuyao was sick and didn't let her take a bath. She only brought her water to wipe herself. However, it was summer outside and the weather was very hot. Even though she didn't sweat much, she felt uncomfortable and naturally had to take a bath.
