Nie Yu stopped in his tracks, already understanding what was going on. He clutched his stomach, pretending to be in pain, and said, "You go up first, my stomach hurts."
Before Li Qingling could answer, he quickly turned around and rushed towards the restroom.
"Nie Yu? Are you alright?" Li Qingling asked loudly. Turning her head, she saw that some of the quicker students had already gone back to the classroom, packed their bags, and left school. She hesitated for a moment, but decided to go upstairs first to carry her and Nie Yu's bags down.
Inside the cleaning room, the man took off his hat, leaned against the wall, and lit a cigarette. He couldn't understand why he had suddenly chickened out and hadn't dared to lay a hand on the little girl.
The next second, when he turned his head and saw the boy with a sinister look in the doorway, he was so frightened that he dropped the cigarette in his hand. He immediately put his hands on his thighs and timidly nodded, saying, "Young...Master."
Nie Yu stood in the light, but her body was surrounded by a chill that even the sunlight could not warm.
The man knew very well that if the young master made such an expression, it must be because something displeased him. He was trembling with fear, completely unaware of what he had done wrong, and cold sweat kept pouring from his forehead and the tip of his nose.
"Who sent you?" Nie Yu's gloomy voice drifted over, as if it were devoid of any soul.
"Young Master, this little girl named Li Qingling is a problem. She's affecting you too much, so we've decided to get rid of her. I..."
Before the man could finish speaking, a glass that hadn't been used in a long time came flying at him, hitting the wall behind him with perfect accuracy, just one centimeter away from his forehead.
“If you make decisions on your own again next time, this thing won’t just smash into the wall.”
The man looked at the shattered glass, a wave of fear washing over him. But for his young master and their revenge plan, he suppressed his fear and spoke again, "But young master, this little girl will ruin your plans! You've always been exceptionally talented, with a superb IQ, and you learn everything so quickly. The things in school are no challenge for you at all, but that little girl actually made you memorize multiplication tables... this is simply an insult to your intelligence!"
When his subordinate got angry, he was so furious he almost stomped his feet.
"I'll say it again, don't touch her!" Nie Yu raised his eyes, and with almost no extra glances, he was enough to intimidate a man much older than him.
The subordinate hadn't expected his young master to defend the little girl so much, and dared not argue further, obediently nodding and saying, "Yes, I understand."
After his subordinates left, Nie Yu walked out of the restroom alone. From afar, he heard Li Qingling waving and calling out, "Nie Yu! Over here! Over here!"
Nie Yu turned his head and saw Li Qingling standing far away under a peach tree, carrying her schoolbag and with his schoolbag hanging on her slender wrist.
A petal was blown onto her shoulder, but she looked at him without noticing, waving and smiling, her innocence touching.
Nie Yu's heart softened instantly. He thought Li Qingling would pack her bag and leave on her own. For the first time, he jogged towards someone and stood in front of Li Qingling. He asked calmly, "Why are you still here?"
"Waiting for you to leave school together?" Li Qingling's eyes sparkled with Ling'er's as she reached out and stuffed her schoolbag into his arms. "Is your stomachache any better?"
Nie Yu guiltily avoided her innocent gaze, "It's alright."
“Then let’s go.” Li Qingling turned around, stood next to him, and walked out of the school together.
It was dismissal time, and students were coming and going, playing and laughing, creating a lively atmosphere. But when Li Qingling and Nie Yu walked side by side, almost every student stopped what they were doing and stared at the two of them in disbelief.
Their eyes held shock and bewilderment, as if they had witnessed a proud princess suddenly becoming friends with a murderer, her noble image utterly tarnished. But more than anything, they felt jealousy and disgust at the close relationship between Nie Yu and the nation's little princess.
They simply couldn't understand why, after transferring schools, Li Qingling would choose to befriend a child whom everyone hated and despised, and even be inseparable from him.
Nie Yu noticed the unfriendly expressions on his classmates' faces. In the past, he would have disregarded them, but now he didn't want Li Qingling to suffer the same unfriendly treatment because of him, and he was worried that she would be upset.
But when he turned to look at Li Qingling, he found that there was no displeasure or embarrassment on her face. Instead, she smiled sweetly and calmly met the gazes of these people. There was even a hint of smugness hidden in her deep amber eyes.
Nie Yu lowered her head, a slight smile playing on her lips, her earlier worries vanishing completely.
The two walked out of the school gate side by side. The gate was already full of cars that had come to pick up children, and Gu Momo recognized one of them, a red BMW, at a glance.
"It's my mommy's car! My mommy's here to pick me up!" Li Qingling ran over happily. Gu Momo, who was in the car, also saw her daughter, opened the car door, and got out.
"Mommy, what brings you here to pick me up today?" Li Qingling threw herself into Gu Momo's arms, her slender little hands wrapping around her waist.
"Mommy took your two older brothers to school, and will pick you up this afternoon." Gu Momo bent down, gently pinching her daughter's round cheek with a smile, her eyes glancing slightly at Nie Yu beside her.
The little boy didn't say anything, nor did he even intend to come over and say hello. He turned around and walked in another direction.
"Nie Yu, wait a minute!" Li Qingling ran over just in time, and forcibly pulled him in front of Gu Momo, happily introducing him, "Mommy, this is Nie Yu. He is the first friend I made at this school."
