Chapter 515 Tribulation
A large, fluttering moth came from across the street.
"Are you home alone? I just heard the dog barking and saw the messenger, so I knew you were home."
The fluttering moth spoke weakly and listlessly, looking quite dejected.
"I want to ask you to change my luck. Please tell my fortune. I can't go on like this anymore."
Song Chunxue laughed, "I don't know fortune telling, you've come to the wrong person."
"But I just want to find you. Please draw me some lucky charms to sever this ill-fated relationship," the moth said, wiping away tears. "I don't want to live anymore. Life is too hard."
Before Song Chunxue could refuse, she had already stepped across the threshold.
Perhaps she was crying so hard that even the two normally fierce dogs didn't bother her.
Song Chunxue found it troublesome and had long since given up on making money this way, but when she saw the fluttering moth covered in a distinct black mist, she couldn't just sit idly by when it came to her.
But she wasn't sure she had that ability.
Would you like some tea?
Song Chunxue brought a plate of snacks from the kitchen and placed it in front of her.
"I couldn't sleep after drinking tea, so I ate some snacks. To be honest, I didn't eat much dinner, just drank two bowls of soup."
She sat down in the chair, grabbed a snack, and took a bite.
She looked quite hungry, so Song Chunxue got up, took the iron kettle off the brazier, and poured her a bowl of water.
Upon closer inspection, the fluttering moth was dressed unusually flamboyantly today, in bright red and green, yet it exuded an eerie aura.
"What's going on? Your husband hasn't been back lately. Where are the children?"
When the topic of children came up, the woman in front of him immediately pursed her lips and began to cry.
"This is outrageous! That woman is a vixen. She not only bewitched my man, but even my two children like to live in that big courtyard over there. You don't know... Waaah."
She put down her snacks and grabbed Song Chunxue's hand. "You have to help me. I've thought of everything."
Song Chunxue pulled her hand away, "I'm not a geomancer, all I know is how to draw a few talismans. My senior brother isn't here, you might as well go find a geomancer."
The fluttering moth nodded, its waistline showing rolls of flesh.
"Then draw me some talismans. I want money. I don't need anything else, but you have to give me the money. I don't even want the child anymore. Just consider it as raising an ungrateful child. I just want the money."
Song Chunxue took out two lucky charms from the side and said, "Place them in the northwest corner of your yard, the northwest corner of the room where you sleep, or the upper left corner when you enter the house."
The daughter, who had been crying so hard just moments before, looked on in surprise. "Really? Will it bring wealth?"
"Wealth will come to you, and what's meant for you will come to you, but you should at least have a way to get money from the God of Wealth. Don't expect a free lunch; you have to open your mouth to catch a free lunch, right?"
The person in front of him understood immediately. "I know, I know. My husband owns a shop, and I have a share in it. Since he's been so unkind to me, if he wants me to stop causing trouble, he'll have to give me the shop. I wonder if you can put in a good effort for me?"
Song Chunxue looked at her and said, "You've been having some bad luck lately. Try patting yourself with willow twigs and peach branches, or fumigating your room with mugwort leaves and washing your feet every day. If you persist for half a month, your wishes will come true."
"If you're worried, you can go see a geomancer. You know I don't make a living from this."
The fluttering moth laughed.
"I know, I know, you have God sending you food, so I still believe in you. If I can get some good luck from you, I can turn my life around."
Song Chunxue smiled faintly, not taking it to heart.
Suddenly, she seemed to see a black needle floating on the shoulder of the fluttering moth.
Her gaze sharpened, and she reached out to grab it.
Ordinary people don't have something like that on their shoulders.
She raised her hand and drew a talisman with her finger sword, then slapped the silver needles with her palm, causing them to sway and scatter.
This suddenly reminded her of the talisman that Chen Feng had buried.
She quickly hung the curtain over the door to let the black mist fly out of the room, and deftly picked up a strong sorghum liquor from the table, took a sip, and sprayed it at the drifting black mist.
"Pfft~"
Song Chunxue sprayed forcefully, and the swaying black mist completely disappeared.
The fluttering moth was startled by her series of movements.
"You...you...what did you see? You can really see things we can't? Can you see ghosts? Are there many on the streets outside?"
Song Chunxue turned her head and looked at her expressionlessly. She was both cowardly and curious. Her mouth was really asking for a beating.
"Why...why are you looking at me like that? Do you think I have something else on me?"
Song Chunxue sat back down in her chair and took a sip of tea.
"Don't be nervous. I've been cultivating for a long time, and I can occasionally see some things. It's not as exaggerated as you think. If what you're saying is true, then I can see ghosts every day. Wouldn't that just make my cultivation more and more unlucky? Those things would only stay far away from cultivators."
"You must have taken the blame for someone in your family, and judging from what you've said, that vixen in your family is indeed no ordinary person; she can even lure away your children."
Song Chunxue took out several talismans from the drawer. "These are some talismans to resolve problems. Go back and stick them inside your bedroom door, and also put one next to your pillow. Don't let anyone see them. We'll see how things go after seven days."
The fluttering moth took the gift with both hands and looked at Song Chunxue gratefully.
She took out a silver pouch from her bosom. "Your talisman is very hard to come by now. The inn only gives a maximum of ten a day, and I've never managed to get one. I don't want anyone else's."
“Each one hundred coins, right? Here’s five hundred coins for you, don’t think it’s too little.” She placed a string of copper coins on the table and sighed, “I only came to you because I was desperate.”
Song Chunxue could tell that she hadn't been doing well lately.
“From today onwards, keep a righteous mind and thoughts, and don’t say discouraging things. It’s important to be mindful of your words. It’s okay to vent your anger by cursing others, but don’t curse them. Try to make yourself happy and don’t fall into their traps. The more someone wants you to suffer, the better you should treat yourself.” Song Chunxue handed her a piece of lightning-struck wood amulet. “Wear it on your body. It’s lightning-struck wood and it’s good for warding off evil.”
"Huh? Lightning-struck wood? That must cost a lot of money, I think I'll pass."
"I don't want your money. We're neighbors, so I don't need your money. Getting through this difficult time is the most important thing. Don't come looking for me unless it's absolutely necessary."
The last sentence is the key point: she was afraid that this person would keep coming to her out of gratitude or other motives.
She doesn't like to interact with others now. To maintain a clean aura, a spiritual practitioner should have less contact with others and avoid contact with negative emotions.
She hadn't noticed it before, but ever since she rushed back to the fortress and started getting up early every day to cultivate, she found herself full of energy and in a much better mood.
She then realized that what her senior brother had said—that most people are there to wear you down and train you—was true.
She felt wonderful after reducing her contact with others.
No wonder those extraordinary individuals always prefer to live in seclusion in the mountains, isolated from the world; they are protecting their cultivation.
I suppose that's why my senior brother left.
"Alright, alright, I won't bother you anymore. By the way, you didn't come back with the Taoist priest this time. Did he go to undergo tribulation? I heard from Doctor Lei at the clinic a few days ago that the Taoist priest's cultivation is profound, and it may be difficult to see him again in the future."
"Tribulation?" Song Chunxue was astonished. "Lei Yun told you that?"
