Chapter 147 Junior Brother, Let's Dig a Grave Together
"Lord Xie?"
Song Chunxue was somewhat surprised. Shouldn't he be in Jincheng?
A gust of wind swept by, and the cold rain lashed their faces.
"Lord Xie, please go inside and wait. It's too cold here. I'll wait here for you, and we'll leave after we finish eating."
Song Chunxue pointed inside the noodle shop, "It's warmer inside; your clothes will get wet if you stay outside."
“Then let’s go inside together and tie the donkey to the stick over there, otherwise you won’t be able to go home today if you get soaked.”
Another gust of wind blew, and the rain lashed so hard that people couldn't open their eyes.
"Alright."
It seems he has something to say to him; perhaps the jar from last time has been sold.
Song Chunxue quickly got up and tied the donkey under the cloth shed so it would get less rained on.
Sure enough, once they moved into the noodle shop, Lord Xie picked up the jar.
“I have a friend who does business in Jincheng. He said that jar is very valuable and gave me one hundred taels of silver.” He picked up his chopsticks and wiped them on his sleeve. “When the rain stops, I’ll have someone bring you the silver.”
Song Chunxue, who was constantly watching the door, suddenly froze.
"Clatter." The chopsticks fell onto the table.
She looked at Xie Zheng in disbelief, "What, one hundred taels?"
"That's right, it might be more than a hundred taels, but it will be a hundred taels in my hands."
Song Chunxue was shocked.
What does one hundred taels mean?
She could not only buy a yard and land in the county, but also save some money to start a business.
Although it couldn't compare to gold, it was just an inconspicuous old jar.
Is it really that valuable?
"Lord Xie, you're not trying to help me out in some roundabout way, are you?" Song Chunxue said in a low voice. "Actually, my family is doing fine, you don't need to go to such lengths."
Xie Zheng chuckled helplessly, swallowed the noodles in his hand, wiped his mouth with a handkerchief, and spoke again.
"I'm very poor and not that generous, sister-in-law, you're overthinking it." Xie Zheng looked at the rain still falling outside. "I'm afraid you won't be able to go back today, this rain won't stop anytime soon."
Song Chunxue was a little anxious; she needed to hurry back to talk to Lao Si about the girl.
I have to go back tonight. If the fourth brother really does have an affair, the Jiang family will be in chaos again.
In the morning, she didn't think that her fourth son had that ability at his age, but the more she thought about it, the more uneasy she felt, and the more anxious she became.
No, she needs to ask her senior for help.
Master Zhang is so powerful, he can definitely stop the fourth brother from doing anything stupid.
"Who is Sister-in-law waiting for?" Xie Zheng asked, somewhat curiously, seeing Song Chunxue's anxious expression. "Is it more important than a hundred taels of silver?"
Song Chunxue stood up. "Senior brother, over here!"
She turned to Xie Zheng and said, "Sir, please don't laugh at me. I have recognized a Taoist priest as my senior brother."
Xie Zheng was somewhat surprised.
A man carrying a black oil-paper umbrella entered through the door, exuding an air of otherworldly elegance and remarkable presence.
He closed his umbrella, looked at Song Chunxue, and then at Xie Zheng.
"Lord Xie?" Master Zhang looked at Song Chunxue. "You two know each other?"
“Oh, I remember now, it was you who asked Lord Xie to change the grain measures for the whole county, and he even gave you silver.” As he spoke, Master Zhang laughed, “What a coincidence, I was just about to go and find you.”
Xie Zheng stood up and cupped his hands in greeting, "Greetings, Daoist Master."
Song Chunxue was surprised, "You know each other too?"
"I know him." Master Zhang sat down at the table. "Have you eaten?"
Song Chunxue looked slightly embarrassed. "I'm sorry, senior brother. I saw you weren't here, so I ate first."
"It's alright, I've already eaten."
Xie Zheng looked slightly uncomfortable.
Master Zhang looked at him, "Is Lord Xie still entangled in romantic entanglements?"
"Yes, it can't escape the Daoist's eyes. That person has been harassing me relentlessly lately, so I can only hide outside." Xie Zheng picked up the soup and took a couple of sips, but barely touched the noodles.
Song Chunxue thought to herself, no wonder he looked so thin and couldn't even finish a bowl of noodles.
But she was more curious about the peach blossoms her senior brother had mentioned.
"Is someone offering themselves to Lord Xie?"
Xie Zheng blushed instantly, picked up the noodles and took two bites.
Master Zhang grunted in acknowledgment and took out a purse from his sleeve.
"The bracelet is sold. Take it and spend it. Spend it as soon as possible, don't mix it with other money." Saying this, Master Zhang stared at her face in surprise and asked, "Where did you make your fortune this time?"
"Huh?" Song Chunxue lowered her voice, "You could tell that?"
Master Zhang looked around; thankfully, no one had heard him.
He leaned closer to the table and lowered his voice, saying, "If you can't tell, then I haven't been wasting my time all these years."
"Tell me, where did you make your fortune?" Master Zhang asked curiously. "Why don't I have such good fortune as you?"
Song Chunxue laughed, "Don't you know how to draw talismans? Draw more and stick them all over the inside of your clothes to attract wealth, then you'll have money coming your way!"
"Ever since I got the lucky charm you gave me, my fortune has been pretty good." As she spoke, she looked at Xie Zheng with undisguised joy, "Last time I picked up a jar, Lord Xie sold it for a lot of silver for me."
Xie Zheng finished his noodles and stood up. "You all wait here. I'll go get the silver."
"Take the umbrella." Master Zhang casually handed Song Chunxue the umbrella he had prepared.
Lord Xie left, holding an umbrella.
Watching his aloof figure, Song Chunxue rubbed her hands together excitedly.
So, she's really going to have a hundred taels of silver?
He's the one who sold the goods, so he should get a share.
Did she ever say she'd give him half last time?
She wouldn't lose out even if she got half.
"How much silver did you sell for that you're so happy about?" With that, Master Zhang took out his wine gourd, opened the lid, and took two sips.
"Lord Xie said it was one hundred taels." She lowered her voice to avoid attracting attention.
"Cough cough cough..."
The Taoist priest choked quite badly.
"Cough cough cough, how come..." Master Zhang was somewhat unconvinced, "Give me back the lucky charm I sold you."
Song Chunxue frowned. "Don't you know how to draw?"
“That was me…” Master Zhang took a sip of wine to suppress his cough. “There are also techniques to drawing talismans. I’ve been having bad luck lately, and the talismans I draw aren’t very effective. Those talismans were drawn by me a year ago. To be honest, no one bought them before that.”
"..."
“Your senior brother doesn’t avoid wearing expensive clothes because he’s afraid of being robbed; he just couldn’t afford them before. He only bought this Buddha duster a couple of days ago.”
"..." So that's how it is. She overestimated the Taoist priest.
“We’ve helped each other out. I’ve almost spent all the silver I dug up the other day. There’s a great treasure in the mountains nearby. Junior brother, would you like to come with me to dig it up? You’re having a lot of good luck lately, and I can benefit from it too.”
Song Chunxue dodged to the side, still shaken, and said, "When you're having a stroke of good luck, you absolutely mustn't dig up graves or tombs, or you'll get bad luck."
"I have already checked, and the bad luck has been taken away by someone."
"But one shouldn't be too greedy. Aren't you a Taoist priest?"
"Even a Taoist master has emotions and desires. Besides, I am not going there for my own sake. If I do not have enough money for the journey, how can I spread the Tao?"
Unable to argue with him, Song Chunxue asked, "So how long do you plan to stay here?"
"It may take one or two years, or three or five years. There are many people in this world who are trapped. It is my mission to guide them out of their confusion and lead them to the right path. If I am trapped in this small Dongshan, how can I fulfill my life's great ambition?"
A barely perceptible sense of loss crossed Song Chunxue's heart. "What is Senior Brother's grand ambition?"
"You two have been waiting for a long time. The rain outside has stopped." Lord Xie stepped in and placed a heavy bag in front of Song Chunxue.
