Chapter 122 If you can't beat them, run away
Everything was packed and a doorman had been found, but Chen Feng still refused to go.
Song Chunxue wasn't in a hurry, and went to the vegetable garden to weed for a while.
The fourth brother and the third brother leaned against the big willow tree, watching from afar as the eldest brother and Chen Feng argued about whether or not they should go.
"Sanwa, come here and hold the child. I'll talk to her slowly."
Seeing Chen Feng sitting on the ground throwing a tantrum, the eldest brother called out, "Third Brother!"
"Go on, bring him over and take a good look. See if your nephew is ugly or not." The fourth brother crossed his arms, looking like he was enjoying the show.
Sanwa walked over, unsure of how to proceed.
"Stretch out your hands," the eldest brother instructed the third brother, "keep your arms close together, don't hold them up."
Sanwa stiffly took the child, watching the tiny child staring at him with open eyes, afraid that he might lose his balance and drop the child.
He used to hold lambs often, just tuck them under his arm, but not children; he was much more precious than a lamb.
He laboriously handed the child to his fourth son, saying, "Hurry up, you hold him, I don't know how."
The fourth son stretched out his hands, saying disdainfully, "You can't even hold a child, yet your mother has already found you a wife. How will you hold the child then?"
The fourth brother said this, but his hands wouldn't obey him.
He sat down in front of the willow tree and placed the child on his lap.
"Oh dear, he's so ugly, he must have taken after his mother." The fourth brother carefully poked his cheek with his finger. "Why are his eyes so small?"
Sanwa leaned over and nudged the child's little hand, saying, "Such a small hand, yet he can hold me!"
"Let me see." The fourth child was extremely excited and struggled to pull the child's other arm out from under the blanket. "It really is! Such a small hand. This fist is not even as big as my thumb."
On the other side, inside the thatched kiln.
Chen Feng squatted on the ground, "I'm not going, you guys go."
She wiped away her tears, "I can't help you cut ties with my parents."
The eldest brother looked down at her calmly and impatiently.
"Then how were you able to control me with the talisman back then?"
"You regret marrying me, don't you? Today you have to leave, whether you like it or not. You have no choice."
The eldest brother smiled sarcastically, "You don't have to go today. We'll take the child with us. When we come back, this house won't accept you. We'll smash and burn your things, give them the divorce papers, and let them find you a good family."
"How could you be so heartless? I just gave birth to your child, sob sob..." Chen Feng pounded the ground in anger, her bloated body almost bursting through her clothes.
The eldest brother looked at her coldly and said, "Then we're leaving. You can stay here by yourself."
With that, he turned and walked out.
"Wait a minute!" Chen Feng knelt forward and grabbed his heel.
The eldest brother frowned in disgust at her appearance.
"Get out of my way." He kicked the man away. "You're really used to being arrogant. We'll have to wait for you."
"It's fine if you don't go. We'll just have your brother pick you up. He didn't hold back when he taught me a lesson last time, so I won't be polite this time either."
Chen Feng grabbed his heel again and whispered, "I beg you, I'll go with you, but please don't hit me, okay?"
With tears in her eyes, she sobbed and pleaded, "I don't want to lose my family. I want to go back to my family in the future."
"When you encouraged me to separate from the family and cut off all contact with my mother, did you ever consider that I didn't want to lose my family, or that I didn't want to become enemies with the mother who raised me?"
Chen Feng was stunned for a moment.
The eldest brother forcefully pulled his foot back, leaned against the door, and coldly uttered a sentence.
"Lock the door, or I'll make you want to hit me!"
He arrived under the big willow tree. "Let's go."
The fourth brother looked up and glanced in surprise in the direction of the thatched kiln.
“It’s all settled now. I thought you were going to fight before you went. If you get hurt, we can beat up Chen Xiang today with a clear conscience.”
"Why don't you wait a little longer and let Chen Feng scratch you?" Sanwa also thought that what Lao Si said made sense.
The eldest brother, with a gloomy face, reached out and took the child.
"Haha, even the third kid can choke now, that's impressive." The fourth kid laughed as he stood up. "Let's go, I heard Li Dazui is here. If we don't leave soon, we'll definitely become a laughing stock."
Sanwa followed behind them, saying, "Li Dazui is good in every way, except for his mouth. In a couple of days, everyone will know that we're going to the Chen family."
"Let him talk, as long as we don't mention the talismans. Farmers, what's the point of just working? They're itching to talk about other people's business, aren't they? As long as they don't bring it up in front of us, let them say whatever they want." The fourth brother put his hands on his hips, walking with a swagger, looking like a leader.
"What if they bring it up in front of us?" Sanwa asked him casually.
"What else can we do? Either we yell back, slap him, or stuff his mouth full of dirt to teach him a lesson, so I don't hear it." The fourth brother turned his head. "And what about you? What would you do?"
Sanwa clenched his fists, "I'll whip his mouth until it's ripped apart."
As they were talking, they arrived at the sheepfold and saw Li Dazui standing by the roadside talking to Song Chunxue.
"Wow, such a big entourage, are you all going?" Li Dazui looked at the two long sticks in Sanwa's hands. "Are you going to cause trouble?"
The fourth brother laughed, "How could that be? I'm just worried that my mother might get tired and need a cane."
“Really?” Li Dazui said thoughtfully, “I thought you were going to settle scores with the Chen family. I heard that a Taoist priest came to your house and dug something out of the ground. I don’t know if it’s true or not.”
"..." Jiang's mother and son looked at Li Dazui and wondered who had such sharp ears.
"It seems to be true. Otherwise, why would the eldest brother, who is so afraid of his father-in-law, bring your whole family to the Chen family?"
Li Dazui said casually, "Don't worry, I'll definitely take good care of your house. We'll teach them a lesson. Chen Guangcai learned a lot of crooked tricks when he was young. If you have such harmful things buried in your house, you'll be unlucky for generations. Even if we don't break one of his legs, we should at least make him feel the pain."
Everyone fell silent.
Song Chunxue got up and threw the small shovel at Li Dazui's feet. "The door isn't locked. Eat whatever you want. There's some water on the kitchen stove. Don't fall asleep or someone will break into our boxes."
Li Dazui sat on the low wall above the sheepfold, "Don't worry, I know exactly what I'm here for. I won't take that piece of meat for free."
"Huh? Where's Chen Feng?" Li Dazui asked in confusion. "You went to her parents' house, but the person who actually went back isn't there."
Song Chunxue looked at her eldest brother, who had already walked quite a distance away, and said, "He's probably changing clothes. He'll be here soon."
She couldn't help but add, "Don't spread this around to others."
Li Dazui chuckled, "Well, I can't control my mouth."
Song Chunxue glared at him.
"Hehe, I'll try my best to portray you as virtuous and gentle, and I won't say that you're going to act like a bully at your in-laws' house."
"..."
The fourth brother retorted, "Is this what you call being tough? We're standing up for my eldest brother. Otherwise, do you believe Chen Guangcai and his son could beat him to death?"
"Yes, yes, be careful when you go to the Chen family. Don't fight head-on. Their cousins are no pushovers, they're as strong as bears. If you can't beat them, just run away, it's not shameful."
