Chapter 846 Never to be repaid

Chapter 846 Never to be repaid

"What happened?" Master Han asked, his hands behind his back. "How did you anger it?"

Lord Zhao also looked at her, and was surprised that she was not afraid at all. Instead, she provoked such a ferocious ancient beast to the point of rage, kicking and banging her head against the iron cage like a raging bull.

The noise was so loud it was deafening.

With a smile on her face, Song Chunxue stared directly into the ferocious beast's large eyes, her arms crossed with an air of nonchalance.

“It heard my thoughts. Wuyou said it was a Qilin beast, no different from an ordinary animal. He also said he was going crazy and wanted to run wild in the fields. Then it rammed its head against the fence like a calf.” Song Chunxue said seriously, “It probably felt seen through and got angry.”

Master Han felt as if his own possessions had been stolen by outsiders, and he frowned as he stared at the ferocious beast that was provoking them with its two hind hooves.

"What did you say? It can hear your thoughts?" Master Han steadied himself, sensing something was wrong. "Then can you hear what it's saying?"

Song Chunxue laughed, "What it's cursing, do we even need to hear it? It's written all over its eyes. Wuyou is right, all things have a spirit. Although it's huge, it thinks much like other animals, or even ordinary people. It's just a child, with a lot of strength but nowhere to use it, and it's being suppressed by you, so it's resentful."

Furthermore, the contemptuous and angry look in its eyes showed that it considered itself of noble lineage and did not take them seriously at all.

They are only temporarily subservient to others, but they are not willing to admit defeat.

Master Han touched his eyebrows. "Then can you tame it?"

"Huh?" Song Chunxue waved her hand helplessly, "You overestimate me. I think I'm pretty good if I can avoid being scared out of my wits by it."

Even though she understood it, Song Chunxue was still intimidated by its size.

"Tame it, and it will be yours." Master Han stared at the Qilin beast and sneered. "This dog refuses to admit defeat because I am a snake and it is a Qilin. I guess you could say it was forced to confess. This is the kind of attitude it takes when it sees me."

His tone was indifferent, and his face was sharp and aloof, but he had no temper with this thing and was quite disappointed in it.

"If it weren't a waste to kill it, I would have used it to cook in a copper pot long ago."

"Clang! Clang! Clang!"

"Bang bang bang bang!"

Upon hearing this, the Qilin beast went berserk, using all four hooves and its head to charge wildly.

Wuyou barked noisily in Song Chunxue's ear, "Let me go, let me go, I know what it's after!"

Song Chunxue took Wuyou out of her storage ring, and saw him rushing towards the Qilin beast's face like a wild horse that had broken free of its reins.

Wuyou moved so fast that only afterimages could be seen, and in a few swift movements, she cut off the whiskers that the Qilin beast was so proud of.

"Waaah..."

The next moment, the Qilin beast fell to the ground, burying its head in the corner of the wall to prevent Wuyou from touching it.

Its two front hooves were held to the sides of its face, and it whimpered like a child.

Wuyou poked its forehead with the hilt of his sword and scratched its itch with the tip, while constantly yelling:

"Get up! Get up! Why are you such a coward? It's just that your beard is broken, it's not like it won't grow back."

"You're already crying before you've even bled. I've never seen such a cowardly beast. No, you're not fierce at all, you're just cowardly."

Song Chunxue stared in disbelief, then blankly relayed Wuyou's words to the two Taoist priests.

Master Han was astonished. "Its weakness is its beard? Is it that vain?"

Lord Zhao was both amused and exasperated. "But it makes sense. Qilin are generally gentle and are the beloved mounts of many immortals. This is the first time I've seen one so fierce."

He also thought that the Qilin was afraid of hearing about its two nemesis, Qiongqi and Taotie.

But upon closer reflection, Master Han must have tried it.

"That's right. It's not afraid of Qiongqi or Taotie at all, and it'll even get more agitated. Its expression seems to say, 'Go ahead and let them eat me if they dare!' I thought it was resistant to gentle persuasion but not to force."

Who would have thought it could be so aggrieved because of its beard?

"Wuyou, come back." Song Chunxue reached out her hand, and Wuyou returned to her palm.

Master Han looked at Wuyou and said, "It's outrageous! No wonder Master Zhang was discouraged, and why did those disciples of the Void Sect attack him? Anyone would hear that their own sect's spirit pet dug up a meteorite iron divine sword from the mountain, only to give it to someone who has no sect, no school, and no master..."

As he spoke, he noticed Lord Zhao's expression and realized something.

"Everything is predestined, and nothing is up to us. You must not waste this opportunity; you should cultivate diligently." He awkwardly turned away.

Song Chunxue heard it clearly and looked at Lord Zhao, "Senior Brother."

Lord Zhao turned to look elsewhere. "I don't know."

"So, Zhang Chengxuan's second act of sacrificing his own life to extend his master's lover's life was most likely because of me?"

No wonder, no wonder.

Song Chunxue felt as if a piece of her heart had been ripped out; it ached dully, and suddenly many things made sense.

During that time, she attracted trouble because of the Worry-Free Sword, and the Void Sect was so cold and ruthless to her senior brother, yet they never bothered her.

It turned out that her senior brother had blocked it for her.

After all, Wuyou is a treasured sword, and those who have seen it know how special it is.

She hadn't thought about it deeply before, but now she felt that Zhang Chengxuan was being very aggrieved.

She clearly took the benefits, so why was he the one who almost died?

If it weren't for a twist of fate that later gave him a divine sword that was no less powerful than Wuyou's, she would have regretted it for the rest of her life.

I felt a gentle pat on my shoulder.

Lord Zhao gently comforted her, "We originally promised him we wouldn't tell you, but Zhang Chengxuan was facing a rather complicated problem at the time, and he was afraid that if you knew, he would take the blame upon himself."

“I let it slip,” Master Han said, his eyes lowered. “But the main problem is that those people are too shameless. Even without the Wuyou thing, they would have forced Zhang Chengxuan to leave his life before they were satisfied, after all, he was once the most outstanding disciple of the entire sect.”

He said with a drawn-out tone, "Even though Zhang Chengxuan was extremely lucky back then, and his master treated him very well, after all, he was the best prospect among all the disciples."

Lord Zhao continued, "Unexpectedly, he was the disciple who looked the most gentle, but was actually the most rebellious, much to the disappointment of all the elders."

"His master was sincere towards him and genuinely wanted to protect him. In the end, it was he who took most of his life, and it was he who single-handedly stopped everyone from trying to cripple Zhang Chengxuan's cultivation... The causes and effects are all complex, and who can explain them clearly?"

Song Chunxue stared blankly ahead, her eyelashes fluttering, her mind a complete blank for a long while.

This might be a more accurate way of saying the truth, but what she owes Zhang Chengxuan is something she can never repay.

Then I won't return it.

Only by looking ahead and moving forward more steadily and quickly can we do something when our loved ones are in trouble.

Otherwise, she wouldn't even have been given a reason.

She hated the feeling of being powerless.

P.S.: Seeing the comments reminded me of my previous character design for Lord Zhao: seven sons, a respectful relationship with his wife… I honestly forgot while writing, I'm so sorry. Zhao Ying has been changed to an adopted daughter, the eighth child. Because I just had the editor who manages the distribution channels correct errors in Chapter 120 today, it's a few days late for the update, so I'm informing you here first. Again, I deeply apologize!
