Chapter 1206: Still Being Targeted
She rummaged through her storage ring and found the cultivation manual her master had given her, from which she discovered other magical techniques.
One morning, she sat by the window, mending clothes for someone whose garments were torn, grabbing a stick for a child who almost fell off the railing, and helping another child who nearly tripped to regain their footing...
The feeling of communicating with immortals was wonderful, and she tried it tirelessly for two hours.
Until the aroma of various kinds of food wafted over.
After eating a simple bowl of noodles, she went to the window again, wondering if she could go out and try something even more amazing.
Fine, she'll keep her promise and won't go out today.
"Knock knock knock".
Just then, there was a knock on the door.
Song Chunxue turned her head. "Who is it?"
"Sir, I'm here to bring you hot water."
Song Chunxue frowned. "I didn't order hot water."
"Oh, then it was delivered to the wrong address. I'll go check next door."
A short while later, there was a knocking sound from next door.
At first she didn't take it seriously, but the next moment she suddenly became alert, got up, grabbed a short knife she usually used, and opened the door.
The man who had knocked on the door next door was seen sneaking around, eavesdropping.
"Who are you? I've never seen a waiter like you in this inn before."
The waiter, with a white cloth draped over his shoulder, turned to look at Song Chunxue as if startled.
Where is your hot water?
He quickly smiled and nodded at Song Chunxue, took off the white cloth from his shoulder, shook it, and walked towards Song Chunxue.
"I just wanted to come up and ask, the guys are boiling water in the kitchen."
Song Chunxue frowned. "It's not even dark yet, why are you bringing hot water? Besides, three groups of guests have come to this inn this afternoon. If no one comes within half an hour, who are you going to bring water to?"
The man panicked, "I must have misremembered. I'll go downstairs and ask. The shopkeeper just told me to come up and ask."
"What is your manager's name?"
"Huh?" The man paused for a moment, then quickened his pace. "I've only been here a few days, and I haven't met the shopkeeper yet..."
Seeing that he was about to run away, Song Chunxue chased after him in a few steps.
The man hurriedly ran down the stairs, taking three steps at a time.
Song Chunxue jumped over the railing and down to the first floor, blocking his way.
"You..." The man pointed at Song Chunxue in terror, then feigned a dodge to the side, trying to run out of the inn.
"Where do you think you're going!" Song Chunxue stretched out her wrist, and a peach branch wrapped around his ankle as she shouted, "Thief!"
The clerk, who had been dozing at the counter, immediately stood up, shouting, "Thief! Thief!"
Two people ran out of the kitchen, one carrying a large ladle and the other carrying a kitchen knife.
"Where did this thief come from?"
"Didn't he come here in the first half of the year? How dare he come again!" The cook swung his ladle. "Tie him up and send him to the yamen. They need a scapegoat right now, and we can make Lord Guo owe us a favor."
Um?
As Song Chunxue listened, she could no longer understand.
The man began to struggle desperately like a piglet, his mouth never idle, biting whatever he could get his hands on.
"Hiss~"
"Kick him to the ground, and I'll teach him a lesson."
Just as the three men raised their feet to kick the person, the person on the ground suddenly flashed and turned into a blur as they ran away.
Everyone was stunned.
The chef nearly dropped his spoon, staring blankly as he asked, "Did I see that right? That person just turned into an animal and ran away."
"That's right, he looks like a bearded man, or maybe a wild fox, but I couldn't see clearly." Another person shrank back. "Was that person some kind of spirit?"
"No way, where can you find sentient beings these days? Even if there were, they wouldn't dare come to crowded places..."
As they talked, the more they thought about it, the more frightened and terrified they became. They shook their heads and turned to get back to work.
Song Chunxue couldn't help but laugh as she watched the three of them pretend nothing had happened and go back to their busy lives. Gradually, she realized what was going on.
Could they be after her?
She recently had dealings with a demon.
Moreover, those demons in the southwest have been quiet for the past few years, but recently they've set their sights on her again?
Are you still thinking about her?
Come to think of it, they had their eyes on Lord Xie before.
However, they no longer care about Lord Xie.
A promising talent from the ruthless path is not a good medicinal material for evil cultivators.
Song Chunxue did not make any rash moves and returned to her room to continue drinking tea and enjoying the scenery.
In the evening, the younger generation returned, chatting and laughing as they entered the inn and asked the waiter for hot water.
A short while later, someone knocked on her door.
"Come in."
“Master, you are really obedient. You were sitting here when we left, and you are still sitting here now.” Qi Yun came in with a smile, carrying a plate of crisp plums. “Here, I picked them in the wild. Master, try them and see if they are sour.”
Song Chunxue was surprised that he came first. Just as she was about to ask him to put it down, she saw Qi Yun suddenly sniff and lean in to smell it.
"Why do you smell so foul? Who did you run into today? Did anyone attack you? Was the person who brought you tea from this inn?"
Qi Yun frowned, looking anxious. "Show me your wrist. Is it poisoned?"
Song Chunxue avoided his hand and briefly told him what had happened that afternoon.
"So, there really was a demon knocking on the door?" Qi Yun said in a low voice. "You've been targeted after all."
Song Chunxue asked, puzzled, "Why do you say that?"
"Don't you think your cultivation speed is too fast?" Qi Yun asked seriously, as if he had shed his disguise. "When we went to the desert to find you, we also found that your cultivation level had increased significantly, but the rest of them thought it was normal."
"so what?"
"This is not normal!" Qi Yun stepped forward. "Even without that Worry-Free Sword, you could almost fight me to a draw. You probably still don't know how strong you are. You haven't even tried to see where your limits are. That kick earlier almost knocked my kidney off."
"So, I'm still being targeted by evil cultivators? Are you one too?"
Qi Yun stepped forward, "Calculate it before."
Song Chunxue slapped his hand away. "You've finally told the truth. What do you want to do by becoming my disciple?"
Han Mo knocked on the door and leaned against the doorway to help explain, "He's just curious, and he really wants to become an apprentice. Don't misunderstand."
