Chapter 992 A Master is in Charge
Something good is going to happen?
What good thing is it that you specifically told her to dress up?
Could it be that the eldest child is about to be born?
"Go help in the kitchen, I'll go help feed the horses." Before Song Chunxue could ask any further questions, her senior brother had already walked out of the courtyard.
I've had enough chicken these past few days, so tonight I'm making pork noodles. The vinegar broth is clear and white, and the pork sauce is rich and flavorful. It's poured over the neatly arranged thin, long white noodles, and the aroma is irresistible.
While eating noodles, Lord Zhao pinched Master Han's arm and said, "Eat your noodles. Tonight's noodles with meat sauce are delicious. Eat them before you go to sleep."
Master Han opened his eyes and stared at him, without any emotion.
"Hiss..." The next moment, Lord Zhao covered his arm and almost screamed.
Through the curtain, Master Han actually transformed back into his original form and bit him.
I don't know if it will poison me.
But Master Han quickly regained his original appearance, lifted the curtain, sat on the kang (a heated brick bed), and ate a bowl of noodles.
After that, he closed his eyes and pretended to sleep.
"Won't I be poisoned to death?" Lord Zhao leaned against the pillow beside him. "It feels awkward to call you 'Uncle-Master,' so how about I just call you Daoist Han?"
"Whatever." Master Han opened his eyes, the vertical lines in them flashing. He said in a deep voice, "I'll go out and take a look. Tell the children not to leave the yard."
Lord Zhao suddenly sat up straight. "What happened?"
“You were right before, there is indeed an old friend of mine here, and he’s not young.” He said in a low voice through the curtain, “but his cultivation level isn’t high, and I’m afraid he might capture a disciple to negotiate terms.”
“I’ll go too.”
“Stay here. Song Chunxue has already left. You can’t leave.”
Lord Zhao frowned. "Where did she go? How did you know?"
Master Han looked at him with a hint of disdain, "I'll return your cultivation next time; you've become stupid."
"You..." Lord Zhao leaned against the wall, feigning sleep, "I'll fix it soon. Who do you think you are?"
"Heh, listen to that, just like your foolish disciple." Master Han said quietly before disappearing. "However, he's much better than that hypocritical Lord Zhao."
After a long pause, Lord Zhao chuckled.
What to do then? When in Rome, do as the Romans do. He felt more comfortable as the senior brother than as Lord Zhao, who had been in office for so long.
"Senior Brother, come down and have a drink." Zhang Chengxuan picked up the wine jug. "This is fine wine from Furong City, would you like to try some?"
Lord Zhao nimbly slid off the kang (heated brick bed), "Where's your apprentice? Call him over to have a taste."
Master Zhang was taken aback. "Didn't you usually tell them to drink less alcohol?"
“I’m having a good time tonight,” said Lord Zhao. As he spoke, he noticed that the room wasn’t bright enough, so he took out a candlestick and lit two candles. “It’s getting late, so tell everyone not to go out.”
"They went to the outhouse, they'll be back in a bit."
Is it outside the yard?
Lord Zhao got up and went outside. The moon was high in the sky, and although it was not yet the fifteenth, it was quite bright.
In the corner of the small house, Song Chunxue's older sister and sister-in-law were chatting and laughing.
He quickly went outside the courtyard and stood on a high place to look around.
Nothing unusual happened, but the wind was quite strong, and a strand of hair that fell into my mouth was blown in.
Soon, Song Zhizhu and Zhang Chengxuan also came out.
"What's wrong?"
“It’s nothing,” Lord Zhao jumped down from someone else’s wall. “Wait for Wuji and Yebai to go back and have a drink together.”
Wuji and Yebai stood by someone's pigsty, watching two little pigs grunting and pawing at the ground. They found it all fascinating and couldn't help but stare at them intently.
"Let's go back inside and have a drink. Your uncle has saved some snacks for you to enjoy with your drinks. Go and try them." Lord Zhao approached the pigpen with a hint of annoyance. "What's so interesting about piglets?"
“Master, you should know what a pig’s snout looks like. It’s a chubby, round nose that looks ordinary and even ugly, but it’s stronger than a dog’s paws when it digs in the dirt. See that wall? If it weren’t for the stone slabs blocking it, they would have broken out tonight.” Wuji didn’t mind the dirt and lay down right next to the pigpen wall, watching intently.
Lord Zhao chuckled and said, "Isn't that just like you two? When you were climbing over the wall, you crawled through a dog hole and almost crushed my wall."
Just as Wuji was about to reply, he heard the howling of wolves coming from the dark opposite mountain.
"Master, there are wolves! There are wolves!"
Ye Bai was thrilled. "Shall we go see the wolf cubs?"
Lord Zhao narrowed his eyes slightly. "Why are there wolves in this place? Although the mountains are large, the inhabitants are not good."
Zhang Chengxuan explained, "But compared to the flat areas yesterday, this place is much less populated, and the ditches are deep, with many places rarely visited by people. The mountains are deep enough that there are many uninhabited areas, and people only go there during the day when sheep are being herded. Wolves will naturally circle around the sheep, and over time, wolves from other places have come here."
Lord Zhao asked curiously, "Doesn't that mean we have to be on guard against wolves even during the day?"
"That's right. A few years ago, there were cases of people being carried off by wolves while working in the fields during the day. The land there was abandoned, and as the number of rabbits increased, so did the number of wolves."
Lord Zhao twitched his nose. "Let's go back."
After leading Wuji and Yebai into the courtyard, Lord Zhao and Taoist Zhang tacitly took out talismans and pasted them on the front gate.
Song Chunxue led four young men to the old courtyard of Lijiazhuang, where they cleaned the house overnight and even filled in the kang (a heated brick bed).
Ah Lai was a man of few words but quick and efficient in his work, which aroused Tu Dan'er's great curiosity.
"I heard that Master taught you cultivation before. What level have you reached now? How about we have a competition?" Tu Dan'er patted his chest. "Do you want to recognize me as your senior brother? Tomorrow you will formally become Master's disciple, and then I will have a junior brother."
Alai put down the broom in his hand. "How do we compete?"
He hasn't learned how to say no to others yet.
"What kinds of magic do you know? Can you telekinesis?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Alai picked up the winnowing basket in the distance.
Tu Dan'er was startled, "You can burn talismans with your bare hands?"
Alai looked around, took out a talisman from his pocket, held it between his fingers and silently chanted. The next moment, the talisman burst into flames.
Changfeng and Changyun felt ashamed of their inferiority and asked, "Master, when will you teach us this move?"
Song Chunxue swept the dirt off the kang (a heated brick bed). "I've learned it so-so. You can ask Alai for help and he can teach me later."
Changfeng Changyun sighed helplessly, "Then we'll start studying after we finish cleaning."
An hour later, they finished packing up, closed the courtyard gate, and prepared to go back.
"So this is where you live."
Suddenly, Master Han appeared before them.
"Oh my god, you scared me!" Wuji ran over. "Master Han, what brings you here?"
"This is a rare opportunity. I'll show you something good." Master Han took out his long sword. "Come, follow me."
"Uncle-Master..."
"Just call me Master Han, no need to change it." Master Han corrected Song Chunxue. "Why didn't you mention that there's a highly skilled person guarding this place? Would you like to pay them a visit?"
Song Chunxue was puzzled, "A powerful figure is guarding it?"
“You have quite a few temples here, almost one on every other mountain, but you probably don’t know that in the caves of your river valley, there is a demon cultivator guarding almost every other mountain.”
“I’ve never heard of this,” Song Chunxue said, puzzled. “This is a remote and impoverished area. Why would they be cultivating here?”
Whom are you taking us to visit?
