Chapter 159 A Soft-Hearted Person
The man felt a solid blow to the back and turned to glare angrily at Song Chunxue.
"Who do you think you are? I'm disciplining my wife, mind your own business. Do you believe I'll break your legs?"
"Fifth sister?" Third sister recognized Song Chunxue.
"Fifth son? You mean your youngest daughter who had four sons and became a widow?"
The third brother-in-law sneered and pointed at Song Chunxue, saying, "You dare to hit me? Believe me or not, I'll slap you!"
As he spoke, he raised his arm to scare people.
Song Chunxue gripped the stick tightly. "You think you're right to hit my sister? I'm going to beat you up!"
Without giving the man a chance to breathe, she took the stick and hit him hard.
"You dare hit my third sister, you dare hit a woman!"
“My third sister worked like a slave, bearing your children and doing countless chores both inside and outside the house. You, on the other hand, idle away your days and even dare to hit people!”
"You didn't let my family know, and you even stopped my third sister from going back to her parents' home. You're a beast!"
The third brother-in-law ran a few steps, turned around and grabbed the stick in Song Chunxue's hand, "Try hitting me again? I'm hitting my own wife, it's none of your business."
"What right do you, a mere concubine, have to lecture me? She's my wife. I can hit her if I want and I can't if I don't want to. You're a married woman, meddling in my family's affairs. You're just getting too big for your britches now that you don't have a man to discipline you, aren't you?"
Song Chunxue kicked him, and just as she was about to retaliate, his son rushed out.
"Don't you dare hit my dad!"
Song Chunxue couldn't help but look at her third sister, who was sitting on the ground wiping away tears.
He's such an ingrate. Why didn't he rush out to protect his mother when she was being beaten?
"Third sister, get up." Song Chunxue looked at her third sister, Song Chunmei, and said, "They don't remember the good things you did for them. Why are you putting up with it? Let's go back to Second Brother's house and visit Fourth Sister while we're at it."
Song Chunmei got up from the ground, "But..."
"You dare to leave and try it! Don't come back if you dare!" The third brother-in-law, with a stubble beard, rolled up his sleeves and pointed fiercely at Song Chunmei. "If you dare to come back, I'll beat you to death, you believe me?"
Song Chunmei subconsciously shrank back and turned to look at the two children.
Standing at the door, the son threatened expressionlessly, "Mom, who will cook if you leave? My sister's cooking isn't good."
A tall, thin girl was standing in the courtyard, peering at Song Chunxue from the doorway.
"Third sister, I came here specifically to see you. If you still consider me your sister and want to live like a human being, then come with me and take your daughter with you. We'll go to Second Brother's house and ask him to stand up for you."
"You feel humiliated that your son, whom you've pampered so much, treats you like this?"
In her third sister, Song Chunxue seemed to see her former self. She turned and walked out, leading her donkey and watching her.
“A kind person is bullied, and a good horse is ridden. If you don’t consider yourself a human being, then pretend I didn’t come today.” Her clear, cold voice was full of energy. “But if you come with me, I guarantee he won’t dare to hit you again. My second brother is known for his pride. If he finds out you’ve lived like this, he definitely won’t let it go.”
Zhao Qian was somewhat wary of their second brother, Song Zhizhu, so he turned around and stomped on his third sister's feet twice.
"If you dare go, I'll beat you to death, you believe me?"
Song Chunxue looked coldly at her third sister. She was already thirty-nine years old this year. If she didn't find a chance to teach Zhao Qian a lesson, she would suffer for the rest of her life.
If the third sister doesn't resist, her interference in the third sister's family affairs will only cause the third sister to suffer more beatings.
You have to rely on yourself for everything. As the younger sister, Song Chunxue can't stay at her third sister's house every day to stand up for her.
If she wants to get out of the mud, she has to put in some effort herself; otherwise, even if you pull her out, she'll fall back in.
A spineless person is like rotten mud; they can't be helped to stand up.
Song Chunxue didn't understand this principle before, because she herself had once been a mess.
"Get lost! You're a widow who can't even handle her own affairs, and now you're meddling in your sister's business? You're just bored out of your mind." Zhao Qian smugly stepped on his third sister's head. "Look at her, your sister's just a fertile old slut who can do all the work. What can you do if she's willing to let me beat her?"
As he spoke, he revealed a mouthful of yellow teeth, put his hands on his hips, and laughed as if he had just eaten shit.
You can tolerate this?
Song Chunxue felt a heavy weight pressing on her heart, a feeling that was more than just a little bit suffocating.
Seeing that her third sister hadn't moved, she was filled with disappointment.
"Go away, go away! What business is a widow like you having meddling in other people's affairs? You should go find some other man... Ahhh!"
Suddenly, his third sister grabbed his ankle and bit him hard, causing Zhao Qian to fall to the ground and kick his feet.
Song Chunxue rushed over, stomped hard on her kicking feet, and helped her third sister up.
"Third sister, I brought you a guokui (a type of flatbread), and I also bought some peacock blue satin to make a dress. How about you stay at fourth sister's house for a few days?"
"Let's go, let's go now." Third Sister patted the dirt off her clothes and wiped away her tears. "Cuicui, come with me."
"Why."
The girl named Cui Cui ran out of the courtyard, and fearing that her father and brother would catch her, she ran around to the side and onto the main road.
She smiled and looked at Song Chunxue happily, "Fifth Aunt, let's go, let's go."
"You brat, stop right there! If you leave, who will cook? Who will do the housework?" Zhao Qian pointed at Cuicui angrily, clutching his ankle. "You've gone too far! I'll marry you off to He Laizi tomorrow!"
"Hehehe," Cui Cui stuck her tongue out at him, "I'll marry you then. Anyway, whether I'm obedient or not, you treat me like an animal. I'll just go out and have some fun for a few days."
Song Chunxue smiled and turned to her third sister, saying, "Look, the child is more successful than you."
"Hmph, you're so successful, it's only because your man died and no one cares. Otherwise, you wouldn't be much better than me." Third Sister limped, patted the dirt off her body, and slowly walked away.
"Haha, aren't you envious? Being a widow has its advantages." Song Chunxue turned to Zhao Qian and said deliberately, "I wish you would become a widow soon."
"You brat, don't think I won't hit you." Zhao Qian gritted his teeth and ordered his son, "Bring your mother back. Can you even cook?"
Song Chunxue looked at her son and said, "Kid, I even beat up your father, so don't even think about you. You'd better cook for your father and see if he's a man or a ghost."
Song Chunxue stroked her third sister and patted the donkey's rump. "Let's go, let's save a guokui (a type of flatbread) for ourselves."
The donkey flicked its tail and brayed twice in dissatisfaction.
"Are you thirsty? There's a spring in the river bend ahead. Let's go over there and drink together." Song Chunxue looked at her third sister with excitement. "It's been years since you visited relatives, hasn't it? Aren't you happy?"
“Huanxi,” the third sister nodded, glanced back at the father and son who were unable to catch up, and said in a low and sad tone, “He’s only good at bullying his own kind. He even managed to take you away from me. If the second brother comes, he’ll definitely be as cowardly as a dog.”
"It's my fault for always being considerate of his pride. Over the decades, he's become more and more demanding." She sighed, wiping the pig feed off her sleeve. "It's just a pity that the piglets and chickens at home will go hungry."
Cui Cui, who was in front of her, skipped and hopped, saying, "Mom, what's the pity? Anyway, you can't eat much all year round. It all goes into my dad's and my brother's mouths."
The third sister was taken aback, then gave a bitter smile, "That's right, a soft-hearted person is an unlucky person, it's really true."
