Chapter 1192 A New Perspective
Song Chunxue thought she would have a hard time falling asleep that night.
Unexpectedly, she fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.
In the middle of the night, amidst thunder and lightning, she was awakened by the noise.
The roof was very thin, and even after repairs, huge raindrops still pounded against it, creating a strange sense of security.
She heard someone running in the yard, got up and looked, and sure enough it was Sanwa.
In the past, when they lived in Lijiazhuangzi, if it thundered and rained on a summer night, they would definitely go out at night to check whether the irrigation ditches were draining smoothly.
But she hasn't done that for many years, while Sanwa does it often.
Although he had attendants and servants with him, he still didn't trust others to handle this kind of matter.
Sure enough, the backyard drain was blocked by stones, and the rain was too heavy to drain in time, quickly flooding the garden.
After removing the stones and mud, Sanwa was soaked through despite having an umbrella.
Song Chunxue stood behind him, "Is everything ready?"
"Yes, everything has been cleared, but there are still a few rooms that haven't been repaired properly and are leaking. I've already had someone make a note of them." Sanwa raised his hand. "Mom, go back to sleep. It's not a big problem."
Song Chunxue wasn't in a hurry to go back; perhaps it was because of her age, but she was now a light sleeper.
"Let me take another look, you go back first." Song Chunxue said with a smile, "Enjoying the rain is one of the ten most elegant pursuits."
"I'll stay with you."
"You're very sleepy, and you have official business to attend to tomorrow morning. By the way, has the imperial court allocated your salary yet?"
Sanwa suddenly became excited, "They're down! The situation at our border is truly gratifying, a remarkable victory. The rewards from above will arrive soon."
"That's good."
"But I heard that Lord Xie originally intended to stay in the capital..."
Song Chunxue nodded, "I know, so I will have a good talk with him tomorrow. Important matters are at stake. Losing his memory is actually a good thing for Xie Zheng now."
Sanwa lowered his head, even more heartbroken than Song Chunxue.
She knew what he was thinking. "When you reach my age and have this mindset, you won't be sad anymore."
“I know,” Sanwa sniffed. “My senior brothers said that they might not reach Mother’s current level even when they are a hundred years old. Nothing could be more surprising than this.”
But he was very sad and unwilling to accept it.
Song Chunxue stopped talking and watched as the rain grew heavier and the air grew colder.
What can she do if her child doesn't believe her?
*
After returning from her morning exercise, Song Chunxue went to the front hall.
"We're heading back to the capital. We'll leave after breakfast." Master Han looked at Song Chunxue. "What are your plans for the future?"
"Taking a few children on a training trip, I will continue to travel around this area. I also want to go to the desert. Although my rheumatism is not so bad anymore, I still want to bury myself in the hot sand at dusk and take a good nap."
Changfeng and Changyun were still outside doing their morning exercises when Xie Zheng brought in two bowls of porridge.
"You drink first, I'll go get another bowl." He put down the two bowls of porridge and went out with the wooden tray.
Master Han looked at Song Chunxue's expression, trying to discern something unusual.
"Tsk, really, you really shouldn't get involved with things like human nature."
Song Chunxue sat on the other side, picked up a spoon and stirred the white porridge. "What's wrong, is your martial uncle still upset?"
Master Han didn't want to talk to her; she was heartless and thoughtless, which made him feel uneasy.
He'd never acted like a human being before, in all his years of life.
Indeed, taking on apprentices is no different from raising children.
He had never worried about Han Mo this much.
After everyone had breakfast, Song Chunxue gave Xie Zheng a bundle, saying, "You might need it, take it."
This might be the last time she prepares these things for him.
Xie Zheng touched the ordinary fabric. "Are you really sure about this?"
"Um."
“Then I will go to the capital and finish what I have not yet finished.”
"Yes, that's for the best. I know you resigned from your post mostly because of me, but now it's just right. Lord Xie is a rare clean fish in that murky water, and perhaps he can hold on for a few more decades."
Xie Zheng nodded. "Everything that happened was for my benefit. In fact, after all this turmoil, I've seen things that I couldn't see when I was an official. Senior brother, even if I don't remember our romantic moments, you are the person I admire most. It is my good fortune to know you."
You could tell he was speaking from the bottom of his heart.
Song Chunxue smiled, suppressing the tears welling up in her eyes. "I'm glad you think that way. When you get back to Beijing, talk to Yun'er properly and don't disturb the young couple."
I can't say any more; that would be considered crossing the line.
"Xie Zheng, I wish you all the best and that all your wishes come true."
Xie Zheng pondered carefully, "May you truly be free and at ease, with a smooth path of cultivation leading to soaring success."
Afterwards, everyone came out to see them off.
Master Han and Xie Zheng rode their horses and waved to them.
"Farewell, Master Han; goodbye, Lord Xie."
"Bon Voyage."
"Father, you haven't even said you'd take me with you," Han Mo complained. "Is your disciple more important or your son?"
Master Han tightened the reins with both hands, turned slightly to look at him, and asked indifferently, "Who was it that told me not to interfere with you last night?"
"Can't you be reluctant to part with me today?"
Master Han took a breath, then forced a smile, "Will you come back with me? It's dangerous outside, and I'm worried about you."
"Hehe, Father, don't worry, I will protect them." Han Mo was finally satisfied and waved to him with a smile, "Dad, next time we meet, I will definitely make you look at me in a new light."
