Chapter 1097 Senior Brother
Um?
A grand celebration? Absolutely unnecessary!
Song Chunxue prefers to keep a low profile.
“Master, let’s keep it simple and not make a big fuss. We don’t care about these things.” She chuckled softly. “I thought you were going to stop us from living together.”
“That’s right. Before the ceremony to become Daoist partners is completed, it would be best if you lived separately on the two different mountain peaks,” the Moon-Accompanying Immortal said with a smile. “What, are you reluctant to part ways?”
“No, no,” Song Chunxue said, her head lowered and her ears burning. “It’s only right. It’s a basic custom. I know it.”
"You must treat Xie Zheng better from now on," the Moon-Companion Immortal said with a smile, "Don't mistreat him."
Master Han was displeased and raised an eyebrow, saying, "What kind of talk is this? It makes it sound like my disciple is your disciple's little wife."
The Moon-Accompanying Immortal laughed, "Doesn't it look just like it?"
"You..." Master Han pointed at him, "My disciple is of noble character. He is considerate of his own Daoist partner. He is wholeheartedly good to Song Chunxue. He is not a foolish boy who lets Song Chunxue do whatever he wants. Senior brother, don't look down on him."
The Moon-Accompanying Immortal sat down. "Junior brother, speak slowly. Don't rush. I don't look down on anyone. I only gave you this instruction because I'm satisfied with this son-in-law. Why are you in such a hurry?"
He raised his hand and said, "Sit down and talk slowly. Have a cup of tea first. There's something I need to discuss with you."
Song Chunxue asked in surprise, "Do I want to hear it too?"
She was somewhat flattered, as she was a junior.
"This matter concerns you." The Moon-Accompanying Immortal looked at her. "Disciple, you must understand that you are different from those mediocre cultivators. Wuyou and Qilin chose you, and the stubborn donkey you brought is proof of that."
Song Chunxue immediately puffed out her chest, "Then I'll be more confident."
Master Han shook his head slightly, "In a few days, we'll go out and have a match, and you'll know your own strength."
Song Chunxue asked curiously, "How much of a gap is there between my current strength and that of my senior brother?"
The Moon-Accompanying Immortal and Daoist Han exchanged glances, then smiled faintly without speaking.
*
I thought that once I arrived at my sect, I could rest for two days, eat and drink well, have a welcome feast, and then begin my cultivation.
Unexpectedly, that very night, the five young disciples were summoned to the largest training ground halfway up the mountain and subjected to a completely unpredictable test.
The guards on the mountain gave a stern and impartial assessment, and ordered them to climb the mountain the next day.
Climb to the summit of the main peak of Mount Kongtong and then return. During this time, you cannot use your sword or talismans.
The challenges faced by Lord Zhao, Song Chunxue, and others were even more demanding. They had to stay in their respective rooms, meditating and cultivating for at least three hours each day, and then spend another three hours cultivating in other areas. After seven days, they would be personally instructed by the Moon-Accompanying Immortal.
More importantly, they lived far apart from each other, on five interconnected, semi-enclosed hilltops. The elders lived on different hilltops, while the five disciples lived in the same courtyard.
Song Chunxue and Xie Zheng were the furthest apart, one on the western hillside and the other on the eastern hilltop.
They had a fairly substantial lunch, but for dinner they ate some boiled vegetables and a boiled egg.
If it weren't for the constant supervision, Song Chunxue would suspect that she came to the martial arts academy to study.
Changfeng and Changyun approached Song Chunxue seeking comfort.
“Master, we’ll be very busy these next few days. We both have to undergo training, so we won’t be able to serve you by your side,” Changyun sighed. “The main issue is that you and Lord Xie have just started to reconcile, and now you’re going to live separately. Won’t that affect your relationship?”
Song Chunxue smiled, "No."
“That’s right. Lord Xie is not the kind of person who is fickle. Their relationship will only grow stronger with trials and distance.” Changfeng leaned against Song Chunxue. “It’s just that it’s hard to bear the thought of suddenly being far away from my master and receiving instruction from someone else.”
"You still prefer me to teach you?" Song Chunxue held the peach branch on her wrist. "Aren't you afraid I'll whip you?"
“Master isn’t that stern, but the discipline he suddenly displayed today was quite fierce.” Changfeng lowered his voice. “But we’ve all received cultivation methods that suit us, and it feels like we’re finally from the same school. After we cultivate here for a few years, maybe we can go out and see the big scenes.”
"Well, once you've all achieved something, you can go down the mountain to gain experience and try to make a name for yourselves in different places. If you don't want to gain experience down the mountain, you can cultivate in another place."
Song Chunxue said earnestly, "You two must cherish this opportunity and take it seriously every day. Every day of cultivation is unique and cannot be taken lightly. You have encountered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so you must value it."
“Master, I understand.”
“Master, I will cherish it. In a few years, I may go back to my hometown.” Changfeng said gently, “These are the most carefree days of my life, and I cherish every moment of them.”
Considering Changfeng's identity, Song Chunxue looked at him, finding it difficult to offer any words of dissuasion.
"That's true. You're still so young, with worldly ties still unbroken. There are many things you haven't tried yet, so you certainly won't just let go. You still have to face what you have to experience. You'd better work hard and not embarrass us when you go back to your hometown."
Changfeng nodded, "Yes, disciple will remember."
Song Chunxue was filled with emotion; her apprentices had all grown up and were much more mature and self-disciplined than before.
The sun has set, and the evening glow is fading.
They sat on the high steps, feeling the evening breeze on their faces.
As they spoke, the sound of their footsteps could be heard.
Changyun and Changfeng immediately stood up; it was indeed Xie Zheng.
"Uncle-Master, Master, you two chat, we're going back."
In the blink of an eye, they disappeared.
Song Chunxue sat on the steps, wearing a simple dark blue cross-collar long gown, with a leather belt around her waist, and her hair was held up by a single peach wood hairpin.
She felt that her first official return to the mountain gate should not be too ostentatious.
Keep everything simple.
Xie Zheng sat down beside her, looking at the scenery in the distance with a smile on his face.
"This place is blessed with clear skies and bright moon, gentle breezes and light clouds. It's a sacred place for cultivation, brimming with spiritual energy." He held her hand. "It's just that I can't be with you day and night."
Song Chunxue slapped her hand away, "We're here to cultivate, and Master said that after we become Daoist partners, we'll make other arrangements."
Xie Zheng grabbed her fingers again. "Well, I'm not complaining, I just feel a little uncomfortable."
Song Chunxue looked at him and asked, "How are you feeling? Can you remember anything from before?"
"Not yet, but that's not important. Anyway, we've made up, and things will get better when the time is right." He stroked her fingertips. "If there's anything that makes you uncomfortable, you need to tell me so I know, and then I can make amends."
"Okay, sure." Song Chunxue nodded. "Go home early, you have to get up early tomorrow."
Before he finished speaking, they could hear Lord Zhao's footsteps getting closer and closer.
"You two are hiding here whispering to each other, are you done?"
"Senior Brother, what brings you here?"
Lord Zhao grabbed Xie Zheng's sleeve. "Come on, let's play chess. There's a dead end game that I need you to try."
He turned to look at Song Chunxue and said, "Go find your senior sister. I think she's got too much free time. You two live close by, so keep an eye on her lately."
