Chapter 167 Eating Wolf Meat
Master Zhang stopped, looked at the wolf twenty meters away, and couldn't help but curl the corners of his lips into a smile.
He straightened up and extended his right hand. "Give me the whisk. I was just wondering what to thank you sisters for. Now I can have some wolf meat to eat."
As he spoke, he unconsciously swallowed, his tone somewhat excited, "Although wolf meat isn't as tasty as pork, it tastes pretty good when marinated and roasted."
Song Chunxue didn't believe he could kill two wolves with his bare hands until he grasped the whisk with both hands and drew a sword from it; then she believed him.
"Then... what should I do?" Although she believed that the Taoist priest was used to traveling at night and must have martial arts skills, she had never seen a wolf this close before, and she was afraid that she would be bitten to death by the wolf before her senior brother could kill it.
“Take a shovel and hit him hard on the head. If he gets scared and wets his pants, that will be a huge help to me,” Master Zhang said in a deep voice. “Stand back against me and don’t panic. Your senior brother is here for you.”
Wolves are intelligent and good at teamwork.
When they were five meters away from each other, they walked slowly around them, their eyes fixed on Song Chunxue.
Song Chunxue was breathing rapidly. Although she was terrified, she dared not have any distracting thoughts.
"Hit him hard on the head," Master Zhang said in a low voice, lowering his legs.
The next moment, both wolves jumped up at the same time and pounced on them.
Master Zhang also stepped forward, his long sword aimed straight at his neck.
"Pfft..."
The fat gray wolf collapsed to the ground.
"Bang!"
"Bang! Bang!"
Song Chunxue gritted her teeth, not daring to make a sound.
Because she knew that when people shout, they lose energy and have to give up some of their strength.
Master Zhang turned around, intending to help, but seeing her gripping the shovel tightly, gritting her teeth and hitting the wolf's head with all her might, knocking the wolf to the ground in a few blows, he couldn't help but raise his eyebrows.
Is your hand really that strong, junior brother?
"Bang bang bang bang bang!"
Looking at the wolf struggling on the ground with its head tilted to the side, Song Chunxue was afraid that it was trying to trick her, so she kept hitting its head.
Master Zhang frowned, baring his teeth as he raised his hand to stop him, "Alright, alright, if you hit him on the head any more, it'll burst open."
"Bang bang bang!"
Song Chunxue didn't believe it and continued to tap her head with the shovel.
"Hiss..." Master Zhang gasped. "I underestimated my junior brother. You're more ruthless than me. Stop now, or you'll break it and have trouble dragging it back."
"Hoo." Song Chunxue finally stopped leaning against the wall and took a deep breath.
Overwhelmed by tension, she suddenly relaxed and lost her balance, falling heavily to the ground.
"My goodness, that wolf is really strong. The shovel almost hit me on the head. Luckily, I reacted quickly. Ouch."
She was breathing heavily, feeling more tired than if she had run up two hills.
Master Zhang shook his head. "Junior brother is clearly pretending to be weak while actually being strong. You beat such a fat wolf so badly that he can't even get up."
"You take a break, I'll keep digging."
Song Chunxue was too weak to explain, her head was spinning, and she lay stiffly on the ground.
The bright moon hangs in the sky, and its gentle, watery light falls upon me.
Two wolves were lying next to her, but Song Chunxue was not afraid at all; in fact, she was quite excited.
"We've found it! Come quick!" Master Zhang called out in a low voice. "Come and lend a hand."
Half an hour later.
Song Chunxue followed behind Zhang Daoshi, carrying a tinderbox as she entered the dark tomb passage.
Arriving at an open space, although it was slightly more spacious, it was still barely enough to stand up straight.
Master Zhang searched around and found that the tomb had been robbed long ago, and the good stuff had been taken away.
"There's nothing of value left. What a disappointment." He held up two candlesticks. "Why don't you look for them?"
Looking at the dark coffin in the distance, Song Chunxue knew that this one was older than the general's coffin from last time.
"Forget it, let's go back." She was no natural at digging graves, and although she was a little better than last time, it was still hard not to feel scared in the dark.
"Let's go then, these two candlesticks should be worth a lot of silver."
Song Chunxue quickly turned around in front of Zhang Daoshi, and the next moment, she tripped over something and fell forward.
"Watch out, shut your mouth or you'll get a mouthful of dirt."
With her face pressed against the mud, Song Chunxue wanted to curse. "This is hindsight!"
She picked up the tinderbox beside her and struggled to sit up.
"What is this?" Master Zhang squatted down in front of her. There was something on the spot where she had bumped her head. He dug the dirt aside and looked up in surprise. "Junior brother, has your head been blessed? This ground is paved with silver. Those tomb raiders didn't even notice."
"You mean, these floor tiles are all made of silver?" Song Chunxue picked up a piece from the ground and held it in her hand. "How could this dark stuff possibly be silver?"
“Take it outside and wipe it clean, I’ll pry up the floor tiles,” Master Zhang urged her. “Go outside and keep watch. If a pack of wolves surrounds us, we’ll have to stay in this tomb tonight.”
Song Chunxue couldn't wait to get out, so she grabbed what she was holding and crawled out of the tomb.
Fortunately, the two wolves were lying safely on the ground, and there was no one around.
She vigorously rubbed the heavy iron block in her hand, and the black substance disappeared, revealing a bright silver color.
It really is silver!
They've made a fortune!
Master Zhang conjured a cloth bag from nowhere, with two large pockets on either side, filled with small, settled silver bricks that emerged from the ground.
"I haven't finished installing them yet. There are still a few left. In case any of my disciples or grand-disciples come, I can't let them leave empty-handed."
As he spoke, he cheerfully handed the bag to Song Chunxue, "Here, you carry the silver, and I'll carry the wolf."
Song Chunxue took it with both hands, but underestimated its weight, and the bag fell to the ground.
A dull yet pleasant sound came from behind; it was the sound of small silver bricks colliding.
She had never heard such a beautiful voice.
"You're so clumsy, hurry up and carry it on your back. I'll fill this place in and then come back."
And so, the two senior brothers carried it twice.
The second time, the two brothers carried a large wolf to their fourth sister's house, just as dawn was breaking.
Song Chunlian has already gotten up.
As soon as she pushed open the gate, she saw two people panting heavily outside the courtyard, with two wolves beside them...
Startled, she leaned against the doorframe. "Where did this wolf come from?"
Song Chunxue laughed and said, "We fought it together. Fourth Sister, do you know how to cook wolf meat?"
Song Chunlian stared in disbelief at the two disheveled men, speechless for a long time.
Song Chunxue was extremely tired, so she went straight back to her room to sleep.
Master Zhang, clutching his cloth bag, also wanted to catch up on some sleep.
When the other four woke up, they were both surprised and delighted to see two fat wolves lying outside the courtyard gate.
Cui Cui was overjoyed. "I didn't expect Fifth Aunt and the Taoist priest to be so amazing. They brought back two wolves in one night. Mother, can we eat wolf meat?"
Song Chunmei snapped out of her surprise and said, "Of course I can eat it. I'll go wash my hands."
Song Chunlian silently took out a knife and half a hemp rope, and deftly began to skin and gut the animals.
Ah Lai also got up. He wasn't surprised to see the wolf and helped skin it with a smile.
After that, they found a stick, threaded it through the wolf's hind legs, hung it upside down, and took out its internal organs, keeping the heart, liver, and lungs while discarding the rest.
The wolf pelts were hanging in the shed; the meat from the two wolves was comparable to that of a pig for the Lunar New Year.
Song Chunmei kept exclaiming in amazement, "I never expected Lao Wu to be so capable, even daring to kill wolves! When did she leave last night? What did she go to do?"
Song Chunlian, preoccupied, scooped out the foam from the pot. "I don't know. I'll ask Lao Wu when she wakes up."
