What are the plans in Chapter 856?

What are the plans in Chapter 856?

"Huh? Why?"

Song Chunxue panicked instantly, put down her chopsticks, and dared not eat any more.

"Will anyone else come tonight?" She hesitated for a moment, then said, "I'll go to the Xie residence and go again tomorrow."

"No," Master Han said expressionlessly. "Lord Xie has been waiting for you for so long, and he finally has some free time. On such an important day, you're just going to say you won't go?"

Do you know what's most important between people who love each other?

Song Chunxue sat up straight, earnestly asking, "What is it?"

“The other person puts themselves first because they want to spend the rest of their life with them and are the most likely to end up together. But you,” Master Han looked straight into Song Chunxue’s eyes, “placed him at the very end.”

Lord Zhao seemed thoughtful and offered a fair assessment, "It's not that serious, but it's certainly not number one."

These words left Song Chunxue frozen in place, staring blankly at the leftovers in front of her, as if an icicle that had been frozen in her heart for decades had suddenly cracked open.

Seeing the obvious change in her expression, Master Han felt a pang of pity.

For a thousand-year-old demon like him to say so bluntly that she was not good to Lord Xie was a bit presumptuous and too hasty.

Some people, even after thousands or tens of thousands of years, cannot explain what love is, let alone a child who has just begun to live for himself and is taking his first steps on the path of seeking the truth.

In his eyes, Song Chunxue was like a child who hadn't quite learned to walk yet, with a good family background, humble and eager to improve, but he couldn't be rushed.

"Don't be anxious or sad. After all, you've been so busy raising your child all these years that you haven't had time to learn this kind of thing. If you had taken a fancy to another man, I wouldn't have brought this up, but Xie Zheng's feelings for you are more sincere and passionate than you can imagine."

The back-and-forth travel of the past few days had left Song Chunxue with an indescribable feeling in her heart. She hadn't understood what it was before, but she vaguely felt that she hadn't been good enough to Xie Zheng.

Hearing Master Han say this, she was confused and overwhelmed by a sudden surge of emotions. A wave of heat welled up in her eyes, and tears streamed down her cheeks.

She quickly raised her hands to wipe it, noticing Master Han's surprised expression, and sniffed, saying, "Don't worry about it, keep talking, Master Han. No one has ever said these things to me before, I really don't understand... I have so many things on my mind, I can't let go of this or that, but I always put Xie Zheng last, always feeling that he wouldn't truly blame me..."

"Now that you mention it, I think I understand. Thank you, Daoist Master. I'm not crying because of what you said, but... I've suddenly had a moment of clarity. If someone hadn't pointed it out, I might never have understood it in my lifetimes..."

Master Han stared blankly at her rambling as she wiped away her tears and continued talking. He then turned to look at Lord Zhao, and the tea in his hand suddenly lost its aroma.

Lord Zhao nodded to him, indicating that he should hand it over.

He handed her a clean handkerchief, placed a hand on her shoulder, and patted it gently.

“If you want to cry, just cry. It’s no big deal. This is called enlightenment. It means that the mystery that was lingering in your heart has suddenly been resolved because of Master Han’s words. The mystery hadn’t formed a blockage in your heart, nor had it grown into a tumor. It can be released with just a tear. How wonderful.”

Song Chunxue laughed, but her tears flowed even more fiercely.

Sometimes she couldn't understand why she cried so easily, like a horse piss, tears would come on any time, which often made her feel embarrassed.

But her senior brother's words made her feel extremely comfortable. She felt that no matter how outrageous she had been today, she didn't have to worry about being laughed at, looked down upon, or displeasing the other party.

She had never met such a person before, nor had she ever heard such words. It was as natural as spring flowers and autumn grass, sunrise and sunset, as if this was the true meaning of the world, so inclusive that it made people want to release their emotions freely.

Master Han grabbed a handful of melon seeds to crack open, his gaze falling on her wiping away tears. After a moment's hesitation, he gave her half of the melon seeds.

Song Chunxue accepted it with both hands, trying to calm herself down.

Seeing that she had finally calmed down, Lord Zhao had someone come in and remove the things from the table.

Soon, the table was wiped clean and set with various exquisite plates, each containing a different delicious dish.

"You left in such a hurry that I didn't have time to prepare anything for your apprentice and your children. After you left, I had some prepared so they can take some with them next time you go back," Lord Zhao said with a smile. "Whether it's a human, a god, a ghost, or an immortal, human relationships are the same and cannot be taken lightly."

Song Chunxue smiled and nodded, "Thank you, senior brother. I'll remind you next time."

"Alright, it's getting late. Go if you want, don't feel embarrassed. We are all cultivators, and we must first secure our own territory before dealing with external threats. Don't worry about what others think. You don't need to worry about what we'll think if you go to see Lord Xie so often." Lord Zhao's voice was gentle, and his kind eyes and brows, under the bright light, made him seem like a bodhisattva incarnate.

Song Chunxue nodded vigorously.

“That’s right, don’t always judge yourself. Perhaps you were hurt enough by the gossip of others in the past, and you’ve gradually come to see things more clearly, but when it comes to marital love, you’re very awkward. Don’t think of yourself as a woman. If you knew how…”

Lord Han was about to say something when he suddenly felt his lips tighten. His pupils then contracted as he glared at Lord Zhao, who dared to cast a silencing spell on him.

"Whoosh~"

A spell was thrown straight at Lord Zhao.

Lord Zhao calmly accepted the challenge, and at the same time said to Song Chunxue, "Go quickly, we two have to have a fight."

"Oh, okay." Song Chunxue stood up slowly and walked out, listening to the clattering noises inside, as if the things on the table had been spilled on the floor.

She placed the things she had prepared for the two of them at the door: two wooden boxes she had bought casually on the streets of Zhuanglang County, without any paint or metal plates.

Hongying said she liked them too, and Song Chunxue even bought her two specially.

She quietly arrived at the Xie residence, wearing the face mask given to her by Master Han, instead of the thin paper mask.

Lord Xie had just coaxed the child away when he sat down inside with Xie Lingyun to talk.

"Didn't Dad say Aunt Song would come? Why hasn't she shown up yet?" Xie Lingyun whispered. "Could it be that she's not coming?"

Xie Zheng glanced at her amused expression and asked, "And you? What are your plans with Zhou Yunli?"

Xie Lingyun was taken aback, then lowered her head, blushed, and subconsciously stomped her foot, "Father."

Xie Zheng took everything in, his expression unchanged, and said, "I'm not blaming you, it's just that they are from the Quanzhen Sect, and their rules are very strict..."

"It's not like we're breaking any rules. Can't we even exchange private letters?" Xie Lingyun explained, fiddling with her handkerchief in embarrassment. "What's wrong with exchanging letters for a lifetime?"

"..." Xie Zheng put down his wine cup, looked at her meaningfully, then sighed slightly and shook his head gently.

Xie Lingyun asked anxiously, "What's wrong, Father?"

P.S.: Some readers have noticed that the last few chapters haven't been great. I kept falling asleep while writing, and moving around and staying up late really drained my energy... Even after revisions, the flow still wasn't right, I couldn't think of the words I wanted, and the overall feel of the chapters was definitely off. I'm slowly adjusting, but I can't rush it.
