When Meng Qi was helped out of the carriage by Ms. Li, she looked up and saw Song Chengze standing there with his back to her, holding the horsewhip tightly in his hand.
Zhang Decheng and Wang Chenghai were standing at the second gate. Zhang Decheng went to see Hu Changsheng who had gone with him today. Seeing Hu Changsheng shaking his head at him, Wang Chenghai felt a pang in his heart. Was it possible that the princess had made the prince unhappy again?
Although the princess would quarrel with the prince every few days, this was the first time he had experienced such a weird atmosphere.
Meng Qi glanced at Song Chengze, then turned and asked Wang Chenghai, "Where's the sedan chair?"
Wang Chenghai stepped forward quickly, "Inside the second gate, slave..."
"Wang Chenghai." Song Chengze turned around and said loudly.
"Yes, I'm here." Wang Chenghai said smartly.
"From today on, the princess is under house arrest for ten days. She is not allowed to leave the house."
"Ah? This? Your Highness..." Wang Chenghai turned to look at Meng Qi.
Meng Qi frowned and asked, "Why?" He took two steps forward and said, "Your Highness agreed to this matter today without even asking. How can you be so sure it's my fault?"
Song Chengze sneered, "What are you asking? With so many eyes watching, did Concubine Meng jump in on her own?"
"She deserved it. She disrespected me. Not drowning is the least of her worries."
"You..." Song Chengze pointed at her, "How can you be so vicious? After all, you are sisters from the same clan."
"Sister? Who is she a sister to? If she recognized me as a sister, she wouldn't be so disrespectful to me. I'm not done with her about today's matter. Sooner or later, I will make her regret it." Meng Qi said bitterly and raised her head. "Also, tomorrow is the day my second sister is getting married. I must go back."
"No."
"You dare?" Meng Qi took two steps forward and glared at Song Chengze.
"I've already spoken in front of so many people. I'll ban you for ten days. If you go to the Marquis of Huainan's mansion tomorrow, where will my dignity be?"
"If I don't return to the Huainan Marquis's mansion tomorrow to escort my second sister to her wedding, where will my dignity be?" Meng Qi's eyes reddened as she spoke. She hated the Duan Princess so much now. She was just a troublemaker. Even before Prince Cheng and his wife said anything, she had already made all the arrangements.
Song Chengze felt his heart soften as he watched Meng Qi's aggrieved expression. All of this was for him. He hadn't expected Princess Duan to instigate such an idea, and aside from the Crown Prince and his wife, everyone else was actually very interested. He had no choice but to agree, or else the show wouldn't go on.
Song Chengze closed his eyes and said, "I'll say it again, you are not allowed to go anywhere." After saying that, he hardened his heart and turned to leave.
"I said, I must go back."
"If you go back tomorrow, you don't have to come back again." Song Chengze said and strode away.
"You, you, Song Chengze, you bastard." Meng Qi shouted loudly.
"Wang Chenghai." Song Chengze said loudly as he walked.
Before Wang Chenghai could respond, Song Chengze continued, "If the princess takes even a single step out of the Second Gate within the next ten days, you and the servants of Jing'an Garden will pack your bags."
Wang Chenghai bent his waist and wanted to answer yes, but when he looked up at Meng Qi's ashen face, he closed his mouth again.
Meng Qi looked at Song Chengze walking away, turned his head, and saw all the servants lowering their heads in a hurry.
"What are you looking at? If you don't want to die, shut your mouth. All of you, come in with me." After saying that, he walked towards the warm sedan chair. When passing by Zhang Decheng, he slightly tilted his body and whispered, "Tell the prince that I will wait for him in Bi Bo Hall tonight."
Zhang Chengde was stunned at first, then lowered his head and said nothing.
Meng Qi returned to her room in Jing'an Garden, feeling extremely down. Madam Liu grabbed Yuan Dong and asked, "What's wrong? Are you angry with the prince again?"
Yuan Yue was also puzzled, but she knew a little about the relationship between the princess and the prince, so she didn't think it was the prince's business. She asked Yuan Dong softly, "Did you get angry in Prince Cheng's mansion?"
Yuan Dong sighed softly, "The prince has confined the princess."
"House arrest?" Mother Liu and Yuanyue said in unison.
"Then, the second young lady is getting married tomorrow..." said Mother Liu.
"That's exactly why." Yuan Dong frowned. How could this happen? The princess was so eager to return to the Marquis' residence tomorrow to escort the second young lady to her wedding. She had thought today's events would end smoothly, but it was all because of that Princess Duan. Prince Cheng and Princess Cheng had both agreed that nothing needed to be done, but she kept arguing. If she hadn't been so nosy, the prince wouldn't have gotten into this situation.
Madam Liu glanced at the east room and said, "What a big deal! When the Crown Prince's wife and the Second Miss hear the news, they'll be so worried."
In the east room, Ms. Li stood respectfully, replying to Meng Qi's words, "After you and the concubine left, Prince Duan came to Princess Duan and said something. I don't know what he said. I saw that Princess Duan's face was red. She wanted to refute something, but Prince Duan interrupted her. Then Princess Duan sat there alone, her chest heaving violently. I thought Prince Duan must have scolded her."
Meng Qi nodded. Princess Duan's behavior today was truly excessive. She seemed ready to go all out to antagonize him. She had been targeting him ever since she entered Prince Cheng's residence. It had been several months since their last argument, and there hadn't been much conflict since. So what had Princess Duan done to pick on him again?
And it seems that Prince Duan was unaware of her targeting him today. This must be her own behavior, so Prince Duan scolded her.
Seeing Meng Qi remained silent, Ms. Li thought for a moment before continuing, "It was Princess Yong'an who saw Princess Duan sulking alone and walked over to pull her over to the other women to talk. By coming this way, she was closer to me and heard a little bit. Princess Jing comforted her, saying she was just being honest and not to take it too seriously."
