Chapter 208: Continue Planning (Part 2)

Song Chengze looked puzzled, "What did the prince say?"

The prince walked up to Song Chengze and glanced back at Chengtian Hall. "You know what I'm talking about. I've always felt that we have the best relationship among all brothers. But now it seems that I'm old and my eyesight is not good. Why do some things seem unclear? Or is it that some people don't understand some things?"

Song Chengze continued to be puzzled, "Where did you get this from, Prince? You are not even forty yet, you are at the prime of your life. If you continue to say this, your father will be sad."

The prince snorted coldly, stood up straight, and put some distance between himself and Song Chengze.

"Sixth Brother, it's good to be able to make your own decisions on some things, but not everything can be decided by yourself. Look, Fourth Brother has been in there for quite a while, and I don't know what the Emperor is discussing with him. Is this what you want to see?"

Song Chengze first nodded and then shook his head, "Before fourth brother passed away, didn't father talk to the prince for a long time? Now it seems that it is my son who has not shared father's worries." There was self-mockery in his tone.

The prince was stunned, a hint of anger flashed across his face before he smiled coldly, "Go quickly, perhaps the Marquis Manhuai Nan's mansion is waiting for you to come back and make a decision."

Song Chengze bowed and said, "Prince, you are joking. The Marquis has gone. We have our own ancestral etiquette and family customs. How can it be my turn to make the decision? After all, I am the grandson-in-law. I must light three incense sticks."

Song Chengze turned around and walked down the steps of Chengtian Palace for a long way, and he felt someone watching him from behind. In the middle of summer, he actually felt a cold and slippery feeling.

-----

Time passed quickly, and in a blink of an eye it was Meng Changfeng's fifth term.

After returning from the Meng family cemetery, Meng Wan and Meng Qi entered Wang's courtyard.

"Have you visited Meng Zhi?" Meng Wan asked.

Meng Qi lay on the chaise longue, throwing her shoes far away. "She is living a very comfortable life now. She waters the flowers, picks fruits and shares tea with them every day." Her tone was full of envy.

Meng Wan pushed her and said, "Just lie down properly. If mother sees you, she'll scold you again."

"Just say it, I like to listen to whatever mother says." Meng Qi turned sideways, "I'm starting to clean up my farm."

"Oh? So fast?" Meng Wan didn't expect Meng Qi to actually buy a farm. "Where is it? Was it what you told me last time?"

Meng Qi nodded. "Yes, I went to see it again. Although it's not very big, it suits my taste very well. There are fruit trees, a stream, half leaning against the mountain, and a small fish pond. There are also fields of wild flowers. I'll take you there later. I'm sure you'll like it."

Meng Wan said happily, "Does it need to be rearranged?"

"Well, the house isn't to my liking, so I've asked Mama Liu to take Yuanyue and Shitou over there and let them look after it. The house needs to be rebuilt, and there are still some details to be taken care of. Meng Zhi is there too, and she said she'd help me supervise the work." Meng Qi chuckled after she finished speaking, "She even asked me to leave her a big room. So, I'll leave her one and you one. As the owner, am I going to live in a small room?"

Meng Wan was delighted when she heard this. "Then build a few more big ones. And there's also Mom. You should leave a big one for her, too."

"Of course. The biggest one is for mom to live in."

Meng Wan looked at Meng Qi's happy expression, thought for a moment, and asked softly, "Are you really planning to move in?"

Meng Qi blurted out, "Of course, otherwise why would I go to so much trouble to clean up." Then, as if realizing what Meng Wan meant, she sat up straighter and said, "Second sister, please don't tell anyone about this farm, including my second brother-in-law and mother, okay?"

Meng Wan nodded, "I know." Seeing Meng Qi's obviously depressed mood, Meng Wan did not continue the topic. "I heard from your second brother-in-law that the Crown Prince is very dissatisfied with the Prince recently?"

Meng Qi picked up two grapes from the fruit bowl and ate them. "Well, ever since the Emperor fell ill due to Prince Cheng's situation, the Crown Prince has been responsible for most of the government affairs. I thought he would make use of Prince Cheng, but he actually promoted Prince Jing and targeted Prince Cheng at every turn. He was more subtle in the past, but now it's so obvious."

Meng Wan sighed, "The Crown Prince's thoughts are truly difficult to guess. Logically, Your Majesty helped him deal with Prince Duan and Prince Cheng, clearing two such significant obstacles for him. Even if he doesn't want to thank Your Majesty, he shouldn't be disrespectful to Your Majesty like this."

"Hmph, you're so petty. You don't know, every time I see the Crown Prince, I feel uncomfortable, especially when he smiles. It feels like a cold wind is blowing into my neck. I don't know what the late Queen looked like, but I feel like the Crown Prince is more like a woman."

"Don't talk nonsense." Meng Wan patted her.

Meng Qi raised an eyebrow, "Really, Second Sister, you don't know how strange the Crown Prince is. He always wears a woman's hairpin in his private clothes."
