Chapter 210: Making Up Your Mind (Part 2)

Meng Qi's eyelids have been twitching since Song Chengze left home early in the morning. Ever since they kissed while awake that day, Song Chengze has been making gentle little gestures towards her.

Just like when he just went out, he kissed her forehead without caring that Yuan Dong and Wang Chenghai were still around, and gently told her not to worry, that he would come back in the evening to have dinner with her.

Although the two have never been a real couple, Meng Qi knows that if they continue like this, it won't be long before they become a real couple.

What if that day really came? Would she refuse? Meng Qi thought for a long time, and the answer was no. She wouldn't refuse. She might even take the initiative. And she still had a glimmer of hope. She wanted more from Song Chengze. Regardless of whether their promise would come true in the future, she just wanted to keep the good things between them. Could this be considered making up for the regrets of her past life?

Meng Qi sat by the window, the blueprints of the house Meng Wan had designed for her on the table. She admired Meng Wan immensely, not only for his constant novelty and unusual ideas, but also for his invention of drawing with charcoal.

Just like the piece of bast paper she held in her hand, a house was neatly drawn on it, its layout clearly visible: where the bedroom, the side room, the pantry, everything. Meng Wan had even designed a bathroom with a shower for her. As Meng Qi listened to Meng Wan talk about how convenient it would be to shower just standing there, she felt a surge of anticipation.

Yuan Dong walked in, and Meng Qi handed the paper over. "Tell Wang Chenghai to go and tell the craftsman to make the changes I made. Have Madam Liu keep an eye on it to make sure there are no mistakes."

Meng Qi thought for a moment and continued, "If that shower head works well, we'll install it in the other two rooms as well. Wang Chenghai went there in person both times, right?"

Yuan Dong took the blueprint and said, "Yes, even Xiao Shunzi and Xiao Xizi haven't been there. Everything was done according to your instructions. Except for Mama Liu and Yuan Yue who went there first, only Wang Chenghai and this servant went twice."

Meng Qi stood up and gently patted his lower back. "How is it going?"

"It will be done quickly. Now all that's left is to renovate the house. We'll need to add a roof to the main house and then paint it twice. When I went there the day before yesterday, Miss Zhi had already planted flowers along the paths from the main gate to each courtyard."

Meng Qi said happily, "Really? She grew it herself?"

"Yes, she was with the little girl you just bought for her and the village head's grandson. She was wearing coarse clothes and a headscarf. If Miss Zhi hadn't called me her servant, I wouldn't have recognized her."

Meng Qi was even happier after hearing this. Meng Zhi could be so happy, but she couldn't say it was a happy ending, but she had indeed suffered a lot.

This courtyard was outside the city, surrounded by picturesque scenery and three or four other similar courtyards, making it inconspicuous. No one except Meng Wan knew about it. Once she had finished packing, her first order of business was to take Wang Shi to live there for a while.

This house was also the place Meng Qi had chosen for her future. In fact, her dowry also included two manors, both on the outskirts of the city, but Meng Qi didn't want to go there. She couldn't explain why, she just didn't want to be disturbed.

Thinking of this, Meng Qi became confused again. After interacting with Song Chengze recently and having the idea she had yesterday, she didn't know if she would still stick to her original decision if the two of them really came to that point.

If both he and she changed their minds, what would happen next? Song Chengze was bound to take that position. She had never imagined standing at the top with him. Was it fear, panic, worry, or confusion? Only Meng Qi knew that there was absolutely no expectation or joy in this.

"In a few days, Lin Qing will bring the glass back. You can go with them then. You should know how to put it there. Don't let them make any mistakes."

Lin Qing is Meng Qi's husband, Fang Qingrui.

Yuan Dong was about to respond when she looked up and saw Zhang Decheng hurriedly entering the courtyard and trotting up to the upper room.

Meng Qi also saw it and her heart skipped a beat. Zhang Decheng had never been so panicked before. Something must have happened.

She didn't have time to think about it and walked out of the east room quickly. Zhang Decheng was standing in the middle hall, waving his hand to indicate that Lixia didn't need to pour tea for him. When he looked up and saw Meng Qi, he hurriedly bowed and greeted her.

Meng Qi stepped forward and asked anxiously, "But what's going on with the prince?"

Zhang Decheng nodded. "Someone just reported that Prince Dao and the second young master of the Prince's Mansion accidentally fell off a cliff. Elder Lu has already sent someone."

Meng Qi felt a loud bang in her head and her body fell backwards twice. Yuan Dong quickly supported her with one hand, and Lixia moved the embroidery stool over.

"What happened? How much do you know about the specific situation? Is it just the prince and the second brother-in-law? Who came back to report the news?"

Zhang De wiped the sweat from his forehead, his voice trembling. "The people who came said that it was General Wu's deputy general's men who saw them while they were escorting Lord Wang and Madam Wu back to the capital. They didn't know how long the prince and Mr. Zhou had been down there when they saw them. They said that people from our palace and Mr. Zhou's men had gone to the bottom of the cliff to look for them."

Meng Qi stood up in shock. How could this happen? Even if they were going to look for the prince, they couldn't have sent someone back with a letter. Neither Chu Yong nor Dong Hai would do such a thing.

And General Wu? Could it be Wu Zhengda?

Zhang Decheng took a sip of the water and continued, "The people who came said that they split into two groups. One group came to our mansion to report the news, and the other group went to the Prince Shen's mansion."

"what else?"

Zhang Decheng shook his head. "That's all. The person who brought the news was very anxious. He said they had to go to Prince Shen's mansion to check. He said there was a blood letter that needed Grandma Zhou Er to identify."

"Blood letter?" Meng Qi clasped her hands. What happened? Who wrote the blood letter? This had never happened in her previous life.
