Chapter 29 A Little Embarrassing

"Princess, Madam Hai wants to see you." Madam Liu came in and said.

Meng Qi sat up and nodded at Mother Liu.

Nanny Hai came in with an unpleasant smile on her face to greet Meng Qi. "I shouldn't have disturbed the princess at this time. I knew she had just returned from the palace and must be tired. But the concubines and concubines knew you had returned, so they wanted to show their filial piety by serving her lunch."

Meng Qi looked at Madam Hai's half-smile and twitched her lips. "Oh? Since you know I'm tired, you should wait until I'm not tired."

When Madam Hai heard this, her smile froze. What did this mean? Gone?

Meng Qi waved her hand impatiently, "Tell them to wait for the news. When the time comes for them to come and serve, I will send someone to call them."

Nanny Hai wanted to say something else, but she saw Meng Qi closing her eyes and looking absent-minded.

Nanny Hai couldn't say anything more, so she replied "yes" and retreated. Standing in the central hall, she was still feeling angry, but then she thought about Meng Qi's expression just now. Perhaps she was sulking because the prince didn't accompany her back? Thinking of this, Nanny Hai felt much more cheerful.

After leaving the main room, everyone standing in the corridor looked at Madam Hai. Xiao Lin lowered the hood of her cloak, turned around and said to everyone, "Let's go."

Just as he lifted his leg, Nanny Hai stepped forward and said, "The princess said she was tired and will not be seen today."

"No?" Wu's voice was rather shrill. She hurried to Jing'an Garden, stepped through the gate, and saw the group standing at the steps of the main house. She breathed a sigh of relief. But before she could even catch her breath, the princess didn't see them.

Matron Hai nodded with an embarrassed look on her face. "Yes, I won't see you."

"Have you told the princess that we are all here?" Kobayashi frowned unhappily.

"She said that you all knew that the princess was tired after returning from the palace, so you came to serve her. But the princess said that since you knew she was tired, you shouldn't come to disturb her." Although Nanny Hai told her everything, her tone was helpless, which made people have other thoughts when they heard it.

Li took Roland's hand, turned around and left without saying a word.

"Sister, are you going back?" Xiao Lin asked.

Li turned her head and said, "We were too impatient. We should have waited for the princess to summon us before paying our respects." After saying that, she turned around and walked down the stairs.

Xiao Lin looked at Li's back and whispered, "When I asked you about it just now, you didn't say that."

Aunt Bai was Lin's maid who came with her as a dowry. She got pregnant with Lin and was later promoted to concubine. She has always been around little Lin.

"Sister Lin, shall we go?" Mrs. Bai came up and supported little Mrs. Lin.

Xiao Lin glanced at the cotton door curtain of the upper room and said, "Why don't you leave? Stay for lunch. You are hungry, but you are standing in the wrong place." After saying that, she flicked her sleeves and walked towards the gate of the courtyard.

Nanny Hai watched the women exit the courtyard one by one, feeling delighted. I really don't know what this Meng is thinking. Judging from the situation from last night to today, it's certain that the prince is displeased with her. He won't even give her the most basic respect. If she were smart, wouldn't she take advantage of the concubines' arrival to learn more about their situation, to crack down on them and win them over if necessary? But she's just ignored them. Haha, interesting. The more Meng acts like this, the better it is for her.

Turning around, she saw Madam Liu coming out of the east wing. Madam Hai smiled and greeted her, "Hello, elder sister. I have a few words for you to discuss."

Madam Liu returned the greeting, "You're too polite, Madam. You're an old friend of the prince and have experience. There's no need for you to come to me for advice. Just ask for my advice if you have anything to ask."

Nanny Hai said with an embarrassed look on her face, "I don't know what happened to the princess in the palace. I see she looks unhappy. She even refused to see the concubines who came to pay their respects. I was thinking of asking the people in the mansion and the courtyard about the princess's plans. But it seems that in two days, will it be possible?"

Mother Liu sighed, "I don't know what's going on. Although Yuandong accompanied me into the palace, we couldn't get in past Xining Gate. No one dared to say anything about the specific situation. As for the things you just mentioned about the mansion and the courtyard, why don't we just leave it as it was before and wait until the princess finds time to sort it out before we talk about it again?"

Nanny Hai nodded. "This is the only way. I can't help the princess. I'm very anxious."

"How could that be? We are new here and we have to rely on Madam's guidance. How could we not be of any help?"

The two exchanged a few polite words, and Lixia lifted the cotton curtain and called out to Mother Liu, saying that it was the princess calling her.

Just as Nanny Hai returned to her room, a little girl knocked on the door and came in.
