Meng Qi calmed herself down. She didn't have time to analyze these people's positions and intentions. No matter what, collecting useful information was the first priority.
"Speak." Meng Qi said briefly.
Ms. Li breathed a sigh of relief and whispered, "That Madam Zhuang is said to be a disciple of a very famous hermit in the Jianghu, and is also the junior sister of the renowned Yunling Mountain Master. No one knows where she lives, how the Eastern Palace found her, or who introduced her. All we know is that she is an excellent doctor, especially skilled in the use of medicine. The same medicine, when combined by her, is more effective than a normal prescription.
"After helping Princess Aihua, she promised that there was no need to look for her. She would come once a month. This is her third visit. The Crown Prince and the Crown Princess both trust her greatly."
Meng Qi nodded and signaled Ms. Li to continue with her eyes.
Ms. Li continued, "And the job of picking up Madam Zhuang in the palace was something that the palace maid volunteered to do."
"What do you mean?" Meng Qi said softly.
"She told me that Madam Zhuang had been to the palace before, but she was the only one who remembered Madam Zhuang, while Madam Zhuang didn't remember her. Furthermore, when Madam Zhuang entered the palace, she was just an ordinary woman and didn't know any medical skills."
Meng Qi was stunned. What did this mean?
"She just wanted to confirm whether Madam Zhuang was the Madam Zhuang she knew."
"Really?" Meng Qi asked.
Ms. Li nodded, "That's her."
"Can that palace maid remember what the situation was like when she saw Madam Zhuang in the palace before? Could it be that Madam Zhuang also worked in the palace?"
Ms. Li shook her head. "Madam Zhuang was not from the palace. She was able to enter the palace at that time because someone helped her. And Madam Zhuang entered the palace to visit her sister."
"Sister?" Meng Qi was a little confused.
"Yes, her sister is the talented woman who served the late Empress Dowager and died of complications during childbirth."
Meng Qi leaned against the back of the carriage, something flashed through her mind, fragments of memory flashed by, and she wanted to hold on to it tightly.
No, this Madam Zhuang must have appeared in her previous life, otherwise, she wouldn't be so familiar.
Who was it and when did it appear?
"What's the maid's name?"
"Call me Lan Xin."
Meng Qi closed her eyes and thought quietly as the carriage swayed. Seeing that Meng Qi didn't say anything, Ms. Li also shut up, sat up straight and said nothing more.
The carriage entered the Prince Rui's Palace. Shitou jumped off the carriage and put down the footstool.
Meng Qi rode in the carriage of Yuan Dong's men, while Wang Chenghai and the eunuchs were waiting there carrying a warm sedan chair.
Seeing Meng Qi coming over, he hurried forward and bowed to greet her.
Meng Qi said to Ms. Li, "You're tired today, go back and have a good rest. If you remember anything, come to Jing'an Garden."
Ms. Li was happy and nodded in agreement.
Just as Meng Qi was about to get into the warm sedan chair, she heard Yuan Dong talking to Shitou, "Look, Uncle Ma has a pretty big boil. Don't let him squeeze it himself. It's better to have a doctor take a look."
Shitou Daohui will look at Ma Da.
"What carbuncle?" Meng Qi asked as he got into the warm sedan chair and lifted the curtain.
Yuan Dong said, "It's Uncle Ma. He's had a fever and has a big boil on his forehead. Just now, I saw him about to scratch it, so I told Shitou to keep a close eye on him and make sure he didn't break it."
Ma Da was alone and came with him to Prince Rui's Palace. He and Shitou lived in the outer courtyard on weekdays, so the two of them could take care of each other.
Meng Qi nodded and lowered the curtain. Just as she was about to close her eyes, she suddenly seemed to think of something and sat up straight.
That's right, she remembered why Madam Zhuang felt so familiar. Yes, it was her, the one that Concubine Lian had been looking for in her previous life, and the one she had tried to pry those words out of.
Meng Qi suddenly became very excited. She shouted loudly to stop the sedan and called Wang Chenghai.
Wang Chenghai stepped forward and asked, "What are your instructions, Princess?"
"Go to the outer courtyard to see if the prince has returned. If he is, tell him that I have something important to tell him and ask him to return to Jing'an Garden. If he is not, tell Zhang Decheng to come to Jing'an Garden when he returns."
Wang Chenghai bowed and nodded, then turned quickly and headed towards the second door.
Yuan Dong looked at Meng Qi's excited eyes and said, "Princess, shall we go back and wait for the prince?"
Meng Qi nodded, and the warm sedan was lifted up and headed towards Jing'an Garden.
After washing up, Meng Qi ate a full bowl of chicken noodle soup and drank up even the soup. Seeing this, Mother Liu asked her to slow down.
"Princess, you haven't even stuttered for most of the day?" Mother Liu asked with concern.
Meng Qi nodded. "No meals are usually served on the days of audiences, but there are usually snacks and desserts. But today, I was too busy and didn't have time to eat. Later, I went to Qionghua Palace and was so engrossed in chatting with Concubine Lian that I didn't feel very hungry. But when I left the palace and got in the carriage, I was starving."
While Mama Liu was pouring tea for Meng Qi, she said to Yuan Dong, who had just finished her noodles and entered the house, "Since you knew the princess was hungry, you should have bought some snacks on the street, even a box of snacks would have been fine. What if she starved?"
Yuandong also ate a full bowl of noodles, and felt a little better after his stomach felt warm.
Meng Qi smiled and said, "Don't blame her. She didn't have the chance. She was also starving. Did she eat enough?"
Yuan Dong nodded and said to Mama Liu, "Don't worry, Mama. Next time you go to the palace, bring some soft snacks and leave them in the car."
"I didn't think it through." Mother Liu still felt a little guilty.
Meng Qi laughed, "It's okay, it won't hurt to be hungry for a while. Yuandong, go and have a rest, and Mama Liu will stay."
Mother Liu patted the soft pillow on the kang by the window and adjusted it to the angle that Meng Qi usually liked.
