Chapter 21 Yunxi, you can't escape!
Princess Chong'an never imagined that she would see a dead person again one day. Her eyes reddened and she became extremely emotional.
As the carriage passed by, Yunxi and the passersby stood on either side. She glanced at the carriage subconsciously, then quickly looked away, lost in her own thoughts as she walked towards the inn.
Princess Chong'an was so excited by the news of "Yunxi Yunxi" that she jumped off the carriage before it had even come to a complete stop.
Zi Shu's arm was suddenly grabbed.
She winced in pain, looked up at the woman in front of her, and asked with a frown and a puzzled expression, "Is there something you need?"
Princess Chong'an was completely oblivious to her difference, lost in her immense joy. "Yunxi, you're still alive! You're really still alive!"
Zi Shu pulled her arm out of Princess Chong'an's grasp.
It's impossible for anyone facing a life-or-death crisis to be in a good mood.
She suppressed her emotions and said calmly to Princess Chong'an, "You've mistaken me for someone else."
After saying that, she walked past Princess Chongning.
"How dare you!" Before she could take two steps, she was stopped by the princess's guards with swords.
Zi Shu took a deep breath and stopped walking.
Everyone says that this capital city, under the emperor's nose, is a prosperous metropolis, but Zi Shu really hates it.
It's as if everyone holds power and wealth, and can do whatever they want to her.
"Who gave you permission to speak to her like that?" Princess Chongning glared at the guard and quickly stepped forward. "Yunxi, as long as you're alive, that's all that matters. We haven't seen each other in so long. Come to my residence for a visit."
"Young lady, I am not Yunxi, you have mistaken me for someone else." Zishu politely curtsied to her, stepped aside, and continued walking.
"What are you saying?" Princess Chongning refused to believe it and chased after her again. "How could you not be Yunxi?"
Zi Shu took a deep breath as her path was blocked once again.
Just as the "boss" was about to speak, a boy's voice suddenly burst out.
Before Zi Shu could react, a figure as swift as the wind appeared in front of her.
"Boss, you're really alive." As he spoke, tears welled up in the boy's eyes. "Waaah, boss, I knew you weren't dead. How could you be dead?"
While crying, Congtou clutched Zishu's clothes as if afraid she would disappear again, and asked urgently, "Boss, where have you been these past few years?"
"Where did this beggar come from? Get out of my way!" Princess Chongning, who had been pushed aside, kicked Onion Head in dissatisfaction.
Onion shrank back slightly.
After Yunxi fell off the cliff, Congtou hid on Sheqi Mountain to look for her, but was later chased away by the soldiers who had blocked the mountain. He was unwilling to give up and hid away without worry.
I happened to overhear the conversation between the former Prince Huailing, now the new emperor, and Princess Chongning.
Knowing that everyone in the city was cursing the eldest brother behind his back because of Princess Chongning, the eldest brother helped them wholeheartedly, only to be betrayed in return.
These people are all bad guys who hurt the boss; he hates these so-called high-ranking officials and nobles to death.
He was only thirteen or fourteen years old, and his overwhelming hatred was impossible to hide.
Princess Chongning was caught off guard by this vile man's gaze, and immediately became displeased, raising her hand to slap Onion Head across the face.
With a "thud," Onion was thrown back, staggering backward and falling backward to the ground.
With a 'thud,' his head hit a stone on the side of the street.
"Who do you think you are, daring to glare at me like that?" Princess Chongning raised an eyebrow and demanded.
Onion felt dizzy and lightheaded, clutching his head and letting out a muffled groan, clearly in pain.
Before he could make any move, two guards with swords rushed forward, their sharp blades pressed against Onion Head's neck from the left and right.
All of this happened so fast that Zi Shu couldn't react at all.
He watched helplessly as the blade slashed open Onion's neck, and bright red blood gushed out instantly.
Onion winced in pain, but his eyes remained fixed on Princess Chongning with hatred, just like a wolf cub.
"Drag him away and teach him a lesson," Princess Chongning said angrily. Then, she composed herself and said with a smile, "Yunxi, come on, come on, come back with me. We'll have a good talk."
As she spoke, she reached out to pull Zishu.
Zi Shu took a step back and stood in front of Cong Tou.
"Yunxi?" Princess Chongning stared blankly at her empty hand, then immediately smiled and asked, "Did I scare you? You weren't usually so bold."
"Your Highness." Zi Shu bowed her head and greeted her.
Princess Chongning paused for a moment, then asked with a hint of disappointment, "Why are you calling me that? You never used to call me that!"
Yunxi liked to call her by her nickname, and would put his arm around her shoulder with a smile, acting all frivolous.
She said, "Ayu, Ayu, we're best sisters, why call me 'Princess'? That's too formal."
Zi Shu didn't have time to chat with her.
She glanced back at Onion Head, whose neck was still bleeding, and said, "He's still young and doesn't know any better. Your Highness, could you please be magnanimous and let him go?"
"Yunxi, why are you taking his side?" Princess Chongning felt very uncomfortable. "He was the one who glared at me first."
Zi Shu didn't even glance at the aggrieved Princess Chongning. She lowered her eyes and said, "Your Highness, please be magnanimous and spare him."
The voice was soft, like the gentle admonition of the wind.
"I'll spare her then." Princess Chongning flicked her sleeve. "But Yunxi, why do you seem to have changed?"
I felt so unfamiliar with her, afraid of getting involved with her in the slightest.
Realizing this, Princess Chongning felt even more frustrated.
"Thank you, Princess." Zi Shu straightened up and looked at her, saying, "However, I am not the person you are looking for."
After she finished speaking, she squatted down and helped Onion up. "Little brother, your wound needs to be bandaged. Where do you live? I'll take you home."
The unfamiliar tone and manner of the voice startled Onion. His throat bobbed as if he wanted to call him "boss" again, but in the end, he only managed to utter a "okay."
Zi Shu used a handkerchief to stop the bleeding from his neck and asked, "Take me there."
Feeling disgruntled at being completely ignored, Princess Chongning blocked the way and said, "Yunxi, you come back with me first. Why are you bothering with a little beggar?"
Zi Shu bowed and said, "I am not the person you are looking for, Your Highness. Farewell."
Princess Chongning opened her mouth as if to say something, but was silenced by her completely unfamiliar attitude.
The term "concubine" is too offensive; Yunxi would never say it like that.
Yunxi is a straightforward and hot-tempered woman, decisive and efficient. She is hardly the girl with such a gentle demeanor.
But if she isn't Yunxi, then where is the real Yunxi?
Is he really dead?
Princess Chongning felt a pang of panic.
"Boss, I knew you weren't dead." Onion Head said, choking back tears, as they reached a less crowded area.
"I'm not Yunxi, little brother." Zishu patted his head. "Your neck is injured, so please don't talk right now, okay?"
This unfamiliar tone and attitude left Onion Head somewhat taken aback.
It seems he really isn't the boss.
After walking a short distance, Princess Chongning caught up with her and said, "Yunxi, I'll see you off."
No matter how much Zi Shu refused, it was no use.
Finally, she and Onion got into the carriage.
Even though the carriage was large enough, Congtou and Nianxia didn't dare to speak. This was a princess's carriage, belonging to the imperial family. Ordinary people probably wouldn't even dare to dream of such a thing in their entire lives.
Yunxi also turned her head to look out the window.
As she passed by the government office, she couldn't help but think of Xu Yuansi again, and with all that was happening now, her expression became even more sorrowful.
This fragile, tearful appearance silenced all the words Princess Chongning wanted to say. This couldn't be Yunxi; Yunxi couldn't be like this.
But I still don't want to believe it.
Zishu bought hemostatic medicine along the way and bandaged up Congtou.
After dropping him off at his doorstep, she took the opportunity to get off the carriage and refused to get back on.
The unfamiliar yet polite attitude made Princess Chongning feel suffocated and uncomfortable.
She wanted to turn her back and leave, but she also wanted to see Yunxi a little longer. After all, she was the one who personally prepared Yunxi's remains, and she never thought that one day Yunxi would be alive and well in front of her again.
Although it has changed its appearance.
Princess Chongning followed behind Zishu with a conflicted expression.
Zi Shu pretended not to know and walked back with Nian Xia.
As she approached the government office, her steps grew heavier and heavier.
She really wanted to see her husband.
I really want to talk to him.
Unable to contain herself, she walked to the prison gate, gritted her teeth, took out five taels of silver, and stuffed it into the jailer's hand. "Brother, please do me a favor and let me in to take a look."
The jailer weighed the silver in his hand, intending to accept it, but then he caught sight of a carriage coming out from around the corner.
That's the kind of setup reserved for royalty.
Startled, he immediately stuffed the silver back to Zishu and sternly rebuked her, "How dare you! This is a prison, all irrelevant people must leave at once!"
"Brother, please do me a favor and let me speak a few words with my husband," Zi Shu said.
"No, no, hurry up and go!" The jailer waved his hand repeatedly without thinking.
"Big brother, please." Zi Shu didn't want to give up and continued to plead.
Princess Chongning was furious when she saw Yunxi pleading with others like this.
He rushed off the carriage and pulled her up, saying, "Yunxi, why are you begging these scoundrels!"
"I just want to go in and see my husband," Zi Shu said, shaking her head in a low voice.
"Husband, you're married?" Princess Chongning's eyes widened.
"Princess, please return." Yunxi withdrew her hand, turned to the jailer, and pleaded, "Brother, please, do me this favor."
As she spoke, she made a gesture as if to kneel down.
"Yunxi, it's just going into the government office, isn't it?" Princess Chongning quickly grabbed her and arrogantly said to the jailer, "Let her in immediately, or call your prefect to open the door for this princess."
How much weight does the word "princess" carry?
The guards were instantly forced to kneel down.
Without daring to utter another word, he immediately went to open the door.
"Thank you, Your Highness." Zi Shu was overjoyed.
Princess Chongning was extremely uncomfortable with this and somewhat sullenly said, "It's nothing."
When Zi Shu met Xu Yuansi, he was sitting on a pile of weeds in prison clothes, staring at a sliver of light peeking through a crack in the rocks, lost in thought.
Looking at this dirty and messy place, Zi Shu almost burst into tears. "Husband!"
Xu Yuansi never expected to see Zi Shu.
He immediately stood up and rushed to the door. "Wife, how did you get in?"
Zi Shu shook her head. "Husband, I'm sorry. It's all my fault that you've suffered."
Xu Yuansi immediately took her hand and comforted her, "This is not your fault at all. You must not think like that."
"It's all my fault. If it weren't for me, my husband wouldn't have met with such a disaster."
Zi Shu felt extremely guilty.
If it weren't for her face, Xu Yuansi wouldn't have been arrested.
If it weren't for her face, Xu Yuansi wouldn't have been framed like this.
Thinking of this, Zi Shu forgot about crying and said, "Husband, listen to me."
She turned and gripped Xu Yuansi's hand tightly. "I heard from the constables that your background is related to the Turks."
Upon hearing this, Xu Yuansi's face turned pale.
Zi Shu, oblivious, continued, "I know this must be a setup. You're clearly from Jing Sheng. I wonder what methods that young master used."
"Zi Shu." Xu Yuansi abruptly interrupted her.
"I would never...?" Zi Shu looked at Xu Yuansi. "What's wrong, husband?"
Xu Yuansi stared at her intently, his lips moving for a long while before he said softly, "Zishu, leave here as soon as possible. No matter what happens, don't come back." He grasped her hand, as if reluctant to part with her, or as if making a final farewell. "Go far away, and don't let anyone find you."
"Husband?" Zi Shu was stunned, seemingly not quite understanding.
"Zishu, please promise me?" Xu Yuansi bent down, staring intently into her eyes, pleading, "Leave here tonight, escape far away and forget me, and live a good life."
"I," Zi Shu shook her head fiercely.
"Zishu, promise me!" Xu Yuansi suddenly raised his voice to interrupt her.
"My lord, I promise you." His tone was sterner than ever before, and Zi Shu had no choice but to verbally agree through tears.
Zi Shu left the prison in a daze, not even hearing what Princess Chongning said.
After returning to the inn, she locked herself in her room for a long time.
The sun sets, dusk fades, and night descends.
Zi Shu suddenly blinked.
She thought about it for a long time, and Xu Yuansi's words meant that his identity was indeed related to the Turks.
He knew he faced a capital crime punishable by death and the extermination of his entire family, which is why he let her escape; therefore, he will die.
Zi Shu suddenly stood up.
No, no, she has to find a way to take him with her.
She changed into dark clothes and took out a black cloak from her luggage and put it on.
Then, he quietly pushed open the door of the inn.
"You mean, she left the inn and went in the direction of Red Persimmon Street?" Xiao Shenjing put down the jade seal and asked, tilting his head.
"Yes." The guard nodded firmly.
Dao Yi, standing to the side, said, "Red Persimmon Street is probably where Onion Head lives. Miss Yunxi and Onion Head are very close. Today, Onion Head was injured and bleeding after being beaten by the princess. Perhaps she's going to check on his injury?"
Xiao Shenjing remained silent for a moment, then suddenly asked, "What do you think of her going back to the government prison twice today?"
"Too worried about Xu Yuansi?" Dao Yi finished speaking and glanced at Xiao Shenjing's face. "She must already know Xu Yuansi's true identity."
"She's just using Chongning's influence to find out what's going on in the prison," Xiao Shenjing suddenly said, a strange smile appearing on his lips. "She... wants to escape!"
"Leave the palace." Xiao Shenjing suddenly stood up.
He could hear his heart pounding wildly, his blood surging through his body, pounding against his eardrums.
Her phoenix eyes held a long-suppressed excitement and anticipation.
Like a ferocious beast that has been lying in wait in the jungle for a long time, finally seeing its prey reveal its true colors.
He couldn't wait to pounce; he would never allow his prey to escape, even if it meant biting off its throat.
Xiao Shenjing took the lead and rushed out of the palace.
"drive"
The dust couldn't wait to rise high into the air.
Yunxi!
You have a lot of nerve.
In the darkness, Xiao Shenjing's eyes shone as brightly as winter frost and snow.
This time, I'm sure I'll catch her.
Only she would be so audacious as to play with him like this!
He will definitely settle all the scores between them, one by one.
He wanted to hear her cry and admit she was wrong, and he wanted her to kneel and beg for his forgiveness.
Yunxi, you can't escape!
