Chapter 8 Chapter 8 And you are not, do you understand?

Chapter 8 Chapter 8 And you are not, do you understand?

The Prince of Huailing looked at Yunxi again.

She just smiled, deliberately choosing this moment to reveal the secrets of her birth.

She clearly understood his intentions long ago.

At that moment, a surge of anger rose in the heart of the Prince of Huailing.

She was on the verge of death but refused to say anything to try and save her life. She was incapable of assessing the situation and was unyielding. She would never be a woman who would stay at home, devoted to her husband and raising her children.

"Your Highness, make your choice." The robber's knife was once again poised to strike Cen Yuwei's neck.

The "princess's" nanny trembled so much that her legs went weak.

The robber said, "I'll count to three. If you still haven't made up your mind, then I'll help you choose."

"three"

"two"

The Prince of Huailing, with his hands behind his back, tilted his head slightly and called out, "Yunxi."

The old woman's vision went black.

The Prince of Huailing stared intently at Yunxi. "The princess has been delicate since childhood and cannot withstand fright, but you are not, do you understand?"

Yunxi is very knowledgeable.

She was, after all, brave enough to withstand fright, and thick-skinned enough not to be afraid of having her head chopped off.

"Yunxi, do you hate me?" His eyes pierced through the howling mountain wind and landed firmly on Yunxi's face.

It was as if they wanted to see her fear, her terror, to see how long she could hold out before begging for mercy.

Yunxi suddenly laughed.

"Young lady, you can't blame me for this." As the robber spoke, he swung his knife straight at Yunxi's neck.

In the blink of an eye, she finally cut the ropes binding Yunxi.

The sound of arrows piercing the air rang out, and the Prince of Huailing led his imperial guards in a charge.

With her martial arts skills sealed, she clearly couldn't dodge the robbers' swords.

Just as the blade was about to pierce her chest, she managed to turn her head to dodge it.

She was already powerless to defend herself against the robber's other palm strike.

Struck by the arrow, she plummeted toward the cliff behind her like a willow catkin.

"Yunxi, no!" She didn't know who was calling her.

Just as she floated away, the rope in her hand decisively wrapped around the robber's neck.

The two fell off the cliff one after the other.

"Not Yunxi Yunxi"

As she plummeted downwards, she thought she heard someone calling out.

Is someone calling her?

It's just an illusion.

In the extreme weightlessness, the whistling wind in her ears felt like it was going to tear her apart.

People you thought were family are just strangers, friends look down on you, and even the people you like like someone else.

Dressed in their finest attire, they journey towards a predetermined end.

No one could have imagined that Yunxi would fall off the cliff like this.

Including the Prince of Huailing.

He was the first to rush to the edge of the cliff.

The pebbles, unable to bear the weight, rolled off his feet.

"Master, be careful!" Dao Yi was so frightened that he grabbed him.

The Prince of Huailing was pulled back a few steps. He stared at Dao Yi with a calm expression, and opened his lips as if he wanted to say something.

The words "Boss, Boss" were suddenly interrupted by a loud, earth-shattering cry.

Panting heavily, Onion pounced on Prince Huailing like a wolf cub, his eyes bloodshot as he roared, "Why didn't you save her? Why didn't you save her?"

Before Congtou could even get close to the Prince of Huailing, he was held down by his attendants.

He was forced to his knees with a 'plop' as he was pressed down.

"Brother Yin'an," Cen Yuwei called out timidly, took a step forward but then stopped in her tracks.

A gust of wind swept through, and the hem of a dark robe brushed against the cliff face.

Prince Huailing stared at the cliff, seemingly oblivious to what he had heard, and didn't even glance at Cen Yuwei.

"It's all your fault that killed our boss! I won't let you get away with this! I won't let you get away with this!" She cried, tears streaming down her face, her eyes filled with hatred as she stared at the Prince of Huailing.

"Dead? Why would she die?" As if his scattered gaze had finally focused, the Prince of Huailing suddenly smiled. "She was skilled in martial arts and possessed internal energy. How could she die so easily?"

A smile that doesn't reach the eyes feels strangely unfamiliar and chilling.

It's even possible that all of this was a farce orchestrated by Yunxi.

He looked at Dao Yi and said, "Find it for me."

Cen Yuwei also forced herself to straighten her appearance and said to the Imperial Guards, "You should also go and help rescue Miss Fan."

At this moment, Onion suddenly struggled with all his might, and the guard was caught off guard and was able to break free.

Dao Er immediately drew his sword and stood in front of the Prince of Huailing, but then he saw the thin child rush to the edge of the cliff and pick up a cloth bag from behind the weeds.

The original embroidery is indistinguishable, adorned with white locust blossoms.

Those belong to Yunxi.

Upon seeing that all-too-familiar cloth bag, the Prince of Huailing was taken aback.

By the time he realized what was happening, he saw the child sobbing as he put an inkstone that had fallen outside into a cloth bag. "The eldest doesn't deserve your kindness, he doesn't deserve it at all."

Onion tied the broken bag back together, hung it on his body, then touched his face, glared fiercely at the Prince of Huailing, and rushed down the mountain.

He rushed past Fan Zishi.

I passed by the newly crowned top scorer.

It kicked up a trail of dust.

The Prince of Huailing encountered a sedan chair as soon as he descended the mountain.

It was the carriage of Princess Chong'an of the current dynasty.

She lifted the curtain, glanced behind him, and asked with a rather anxious expression, "Third Brother, where is Yunxi? Where is Yunxi?"

The Prince of Huailing didn't speak, but tugged on the reins and headed north.

"Dao Yi, where exactly is Yun Xi?" Princess Chong'an asked loudly, her face full of displeasure.

Dao Yi could not act like his master, so he could only bow and reply, "Miss Fan jumped off a cliff."

"What?" Princess Chong'an's expression changed. Just as she was about to ask for details, she saw Princess Yong'an being helped onto a horse by a woman and walking towards them.

Princess Chong'an left late today and heard about the kidnapping of Yunxi and Princess Yong'an when she arrived.

Her face darkened, and she instructed the guards outside the sedan chair, "Gather the elite troops from the manor to help search for Miss Fan."

After saying that, he said to Princess Yong'an, "Sister, it looks like it's going to rain soon. Come and take shelter in my sedan chair."

Sheqi Mountain is backed by a natural barrier, and there are rumors of miasma at the bottom of the mountain, which makes the search extremely difficult. In addition, a heavy rain fell at dusk, and by the time the search team arrived at the bottom of the mountain, it was already past midnight.

But the rain was too heavy and the fog too thick, making it impossible to search.

That night, the lights in the Prince of Huailing's mansion remained burning all night.

Fortunately, the weather gradually cleared up the next morning.

When the Snake Mountain was sealed off, the Prince of Huailing arrived at the foot of the mountain and found Onion Head, covered in mud, being driven out.

Today, the Prince of Huailing is dressed in a dark Taoist robe, with a white jade hairpin holding his hair up.

His expression remained as indifferent and aloof as ever, standing amidst the lush greenery, like bamboo or pine, unapproachable and unbreakable.

Less than half an hour later, a commotion came from behind.

"Your Highness, Princess Chong'an has arrived," a guard reported.

The Prince of Huailing stared at the entrance to the mountain without turning his head.

Princess Chong'an walked to his side without saying a word.

Immediately, a guard brought over a sandalwood chair and placed a soft cushion on it.

She sat down casually, and after a while, Princess Chong'an suddenly asked, "Did she say anything?"

Princess Chong'an had already questioned the imperial guards who were present at the time and knew everything that had happened.

But she just wanted to ask her brother.

After a long silence, the Prince of Huailing said, "No."

His attitude wasn't exactly indifferent, but rather the same as his usual blandness.

It seemed that nothing could distract him even a fraction of a second.

Including Yunxi's life or death.

"Third Brother, if this matter hadn't become such a big deal and known throughout the city, wouldn't you have thought that even looking for Yunxi was a waste of the time you spend tending to your flowers and plants?"

Princess Chong'an crossed her arms and sized him up.

Prince Huailing tilted his head and smiled at Princess Erchong'an, "This mountain path is slippery and muddy. Aren't you afraid of getting your clothes and shoes dirty, Your Highness?"

Although the Prince of Huailing was aloof and indifferent, those who had met him knew that he had an excellent temperament.

I never make enemies, nor do I embarrass anyone.

His behavior was like a gentle breeze; though not exactly gentle and refined, he was a gentleman with excellent manners and manners.

However, he was obsessed with trivial things and neglected his duties, only enjoying tending to flowers and plants, and caring nothing for power, fame and fortune.

It's clear that he rarely confronts others in this confrontational manner.

Princess Chong'an was stunned for a moment. After she came to her senses, she felt extremely annoyed. "This rain of ten feet is probably going to destroy all of Second Brother's flowers and plants. Second Brother, don't be so heartbroken as to bury flowers like Daiyu did, or you'll become a laughing stock."

The Prince of Huailing simply looked at her and smiled slightly.

It seemed as if they hadn't grasped the implied meaning in her words at all.

Princess Chong'an was very displeased with the feeling of punching cotton. Naturally, she was not going to let the culprit get away with it. Just as she was about to say a few more sarcastic words, she saw a guard hurriedly walking out of the woods.

Upon approaching, the guard knelt on one knee.

"Reporting to Your Highness and Princess, we have not yet found any trace of Miss Fan, but..."

The Prince of Huailing waited patiently, his unhurried demeanor infuriating Princess Chong'an.

He demanded in a gruff voice, "What is it? Speak quickly!"

"Some mangled limbs were found."
