Chapter 649 Reactions from All Parties

Ralph said, "Sir, the problem now is how do we explain this to the outside world? Hundreds of reporters have blocked the entrance to our camp. If we don't handle this well, we'll lose face in front of the whole world."

Mike said, "Mutiny. We have no other choice but to mutiny."

Ralph asked, "Why?"

Mike said, “It’s simple. Just say that two of them were soldiers who had a grudge against Shen Dong, so they went together to kill him. As for the deaths of the others, say they died at the hands of terrorists. I will declare martial law on Hong Kong Island for a week and do everything I can to minimize the impact of this.”

Ralph paused for a moment, then said, "Mr. Mike, this incident could very well cost me my job."

Mike smiled wryly, "Me too. We made one mistake: we underestimated Chen Dong. He's far more cunning and treacherous than we imagined."

After the two agreed on the plan, Ralph, under the protection of twelve soldiers, gave an interview to the reporters.

"General Ralph, why did six armed helicopters attack the Central Police Station?"

“I’ve already investigated. The helicopter was piloted by twelve soldiers, two of whom had a grudge against Shen Dong. In order to get revenge, after learning that Shen Dong was at the Central Police Station, they knocked out the guards and sneaked into the airport.”

This story is really poorly written.

It's obvious that Ralph, this brute, has absolutely no potential to be a screenwriter.

"Then who shot down these six helicopters?"

"I'm not sure. We suspect it's terrorists hostile to the U.S. government."

One reporter couldn't help but say, "General, we're not three-year-olds."

Ralph's eyes widened, and he frowned, saying, "You mean I'm talking nonsense?"

The reporter bluntly stated, "You're not just talking nonsense; you're making up a story."

"My colleague just called me and said that Mr. Shen, in an interview, publicly stated that this incident was very likely orchestrated by your American government with the aim of killing Mr. Shen."

Ralph sneered, "I think Mr. Shen is the one making up stories. We have no reason to do so."

The reporter said, "You have something to say. Mr. Shen did something that the US government considered very detrimental to them. They even sent their chief executive officer to the Ascendas Group to discuss the matter with Mr. Shen, but the meeting ended badly. As a result, the Central Police Station arrested Mr. Shen for questioning."

Ralph frowned and said, "This reporter, what you are saying now constitutes defamation."

The reporter said, "Please note that I used the word 'very likely,' not 'definitely'. Mr. Ralph, your current behavior makes me somewhat believe Mr. Shen's guess."

The other reporters nodded in agreement.

Ralph snorted and said, "I'm a soldier, and when it comes to eloquence, I'm certainly far inferior to you. Gentlemen, tomorrow the US government's General Secretary, Mr. Mike, will hold a press conference. You are welcome to ask him any questions you may have."

After saying that, Ralph turned and went back to the military camp.

More than a dozen soldiers, armed with submachine guns, stood at the gate, ready for action.

News of “six armed helicopters from the U.S. military bombing the Central Police Station” spread rapidly throughout Hong Kong Island.

Without exception, all major news outlets published this information on their front pages, causing a huge stir in Hong Kong.

Residents of Hong Kong Island are talking about it.

"I thought it was a war? Turns out we're just blowing ourselves up."

"The Americans are really ruthless. The entire Central Police Station was razed to the ground. How many missiles would it take to achieve such an effect?"

"This is the safest city in Asia that the government is advocating? Pshaw!"

"Last night it was clearly two groups of people. One group was the US military, and I'm not so sure who the other group was."

"Ralph is talking nonsense. The military is extremely well-managed; without orders from superiors, no one can even get an attack helicopter out there."

"I feel that Mr. Shen's guess is very likely true, mainly because it is too coincidental."

"Could it be that Mr. Shen already knew that the American troops stationed there would kill him, so he made preparations in advance?"

"Impossible. Mr. Shen is just a wealthy man, how could he possibly have such powerful influence?"

"I read in some newspapers that Mr. Shen seems to have assembled a mercenary army in Southeast Asia."

"Holy crap, Mr. Shen isn't planning to become the emperor of Hong Kong, is he?"

"Mr. Shen's journey from an orphan to where he is today is truly legendary."

......

The fact that Tenglong Mercenaries defeated Xiongshi Mercenaries to become the number one mercenary group in Asia has long been reported by many Western media outlets, and Shen Dong, the financial backer behind them, has also been exposed.

Many people on Hong Kong Island know about this, but it hasn't attracted much attention.

After all, the world of mercenaries is too far removed from that of ordinary people.

Mike sat in the Consul General's office, coldly looking at Joding.

Qiao Ding'an outwardly appeared nervous, but in reality, he felt no fear whatsoever.

With such a huge scandal, Mike's departure is now a foregone conclusion.

Why would Qiao Ding'an be afraid of him?

Mike said in a deep voice, "Joe, you should know by now, right? Last night, dozens of high-ranking U.S. government officials and business tycoons were killed in a bombing, and even my villa was attacked. As the Commissioner of Police, I need you to give me an explanation."

Qiao Ding'an smiled wryly, "Boss, we've been tracking down these ruthless terrorists, but we still haven't found any leads. We have to admit, they did it very cleanly, leaving no trace whatsoever."

Mike asked, "Any suspected targets?"

Qiao Ding'an straightened his back and said without hesitation, "Yes. I suspect that the person who did it was Shen Dong."

Mike raised an eyebrow and pressed, "Why?"

He had always felt that Qiao Ding'an was a rather unfathomable person.

On the surface, he appears to be a centrist, but since becoming the Commissioner of Police, he has promoted almost exclusively people from the mainland.

Mike suspected that this guy was an inland faction member who had infiltrated the centrists, but he never expected that Qiao Ding'an would directly say that the murderer was Shen Dong, which surprised Mike immensely.

Could it be that my previous suspicions were wrong?

Qiao Ding'an said, "The reason is simple. Everyone knows that all the personnel of Tenglong Mercenaries come from Tengfei Security Company, and Shen Dong is its financial backer. I can't think of any other organization in the entire Hong Kong Island that is capable of launching so many rockets at once, except for Tengfei Security Company."

Mike nodded and said, "Are you confident you can find evidence?"

Qiao Ding'an sighed and said, "Boss, I have absolutely no confidence. You see, it wasn't Shen Dong who did it. Even if we catch those terrorists, and even if they insist that Shen Dong gave the order, we can't make Shen Dong confess because we can't find any evidence. Besides, he was definitely with our police officers at the time, so there's absolutely no way he could have committed the crime. As long as he denies it, no one can do anything to him."
