Raymond Chow, Robert Ho, and another major shareholder, Liang Feng.
To be precise, Liang Feng was the first to establish Golden Harvest, followed by Raymond Chow and Leonard Ho. Raymond Chow, however, contributed more capital and was a major shareholder. All three were former executives at Shaw Brothers. After leaving Shaw Brothers, they founded Golden Harvest, ushering in the golden age of Hong Kong cinema and launching the careers of the Hui Brothers, Bruce Lee, Sammo Hung, Jackie Chan, Maggie Cheung, Anita Mui, Jet Li, and many other renowned artists. During the same period, they also nurtured many famous directors, including Tsui Hark, whose martial arts films truly embodied the spirit of the martial arts world, reaching new heights.
"Brother Huai, are we really going to sell? Are we really going to sell Golden Harvest, the company we built from scratch?"
Raymond Chow's eyes were already red with tears. He had lived his entire life for film, and it was they who led Hong Kong cinema to its glory days. Like an old horse still eager to gallop a thousand miles, or a hero in his twilight years still burning with ambition, he felt that Golden Harvest could still be saved.
Raymond Chow sighed deeply.
“There’s nothing we can do, Ah Chang. You know how badly the company is losing money right now. We can’t hold on for much longer. Ah Long and Sammo Hung have all left. Golden Harvest is basically just an empty shell now. We’re all 80 years old. It’s time for us to retire.”
Liang Feng patted He Guanchang on the shoulder.
"Brother Chang, let go."
He Guanchang looked at the two of them with tears streaming down his face.
"Brother Huai, Brother Feng, I'm not reconciled! I'm not reconciled!!!"
He Guanchang's tears fell, tracing the lines of his aged, wrinkled skin, making him appear ten years older in an instant, his body suddenly appearing frail.
Raymond Chow patted Robert Ho on the shoulder.
“Achang, I know you’re not reconciled, and neither am I, but we have to face the facts. Things are different now than before. If you don’t pay, no one will listen to you. We’re getting old, let’s retire and enjoy our old age.”
Upon hearing this, He Guanchang lowered his head.
"Selling is fine, but I have one condition: the name Jiahe cannot be changed. This is my bottom line. Jiahe is the goal we three will strive for our whole lives. Even if we sell it, it must be called Jiahe. I want to carry on the spirit of Jiahe. Brother Huai, I hope you'll agree!!!"
Raymond Chow adjusted his glasses and wiped away his tears.
"Achang, I promise you!!!"
Upon hearing this, Ho Kwun-cheung hugged Raymond Chow and then hugged Leung Fung.
Looking at the cabinet full of honors and trophies behind him, he murmured to himself, "It's time to say goodbye to the past."
“Brother Huai, let’s talk to that young man. If you’re going to sell, sell quickly. This price isn’t low. We can’t wait for him to sell at a higher price. Things might change if we delay. It’s good to leave us some money for retirement.”
Raymond Chow nodded: "Okay, I'll have Ah Long arrange a meeting with that young man."
As for Li Ka-shing's side, it's just a smokescreen. They are the major shareholders, and it's up to them whether to sell or not.
"Ah Long, please arrange a meeting with Chen Fang for us."
Cheng Long was completely dumbfounded when he received the call.
Is Golden Harvest really going to be sold? For a moment, Jackie Chan was at a loss. Golden Harvest had helped him become an international superstar; it was Golden Harvest that made him who he was. Now that it was suddenly going to be sold, Jackie Chan really couldn't believe it.
"Ah Long, Ah Long???"
Cheng Long quickly snapped out of his daze and spoke into the phone.
"Yes, Uncle Huai, I can hear you. I'll inform Brother Shen right away."
After hanging up the phone, Cheng Long sat blankly on the sofa. Lin Fengjiao, who was applying a face mask nearby, noticed Cheng Long's unusual expression and came over with concern.
"What's wrong, Ah Long?"
Cheng Long looked up and smiled: "It's nothing. Uncle Huai asked me to contact Brother Shen. Jiahe wants to sell to him."
Upon hearing this, Lin Fengjiao tore off her face mask and stared at Cheng Long in shock.
"Is Jiahe going to be sold to Shen Sheng?"
Jackie Chan nodded: "That's right. We just chatted about it casually last night. I didn't expect Uncle Huai to agree so quickly. It seems that Golden Harvest really isn't good enough. Jackie Chan is a little sad."
Golden Harvest has changed hands; does Hong Kong cinema have a future?
Lin Fengjiao patted Cheng Long on the shoulder. Although she had always been behind the scenes, Cheng Long knew very well how much Golden Harvest had helped him. She knew her man was definitely feeling bad right now. All she could do was offer comfort.
Cheng Long sensed Lin Fengjiao's concern and smiled slightly at his wife.
