Wang Hui smiled and said, "It couldn't be more perfect. You're now the number one director in China. Let's settle on that."
Chen Kaige, standing to the side, couldn't sit still. This was both an honor and a recognition; good heavens, Zhang Yimou was taking off! What was he supposed to do? Was he going to be overshadowed by Zhang Yimou from now on?! This wouldn't do! Just as he was about to speak, Tian Zhuangzhuang stopped him, whispering in Chen Kaige's ear, "Don't be silly. There are so many leaders here today. If you really want to compete, then show your skills. Zhang Yimou made a blockbuster, and he received the honor because of his ability. If you want to be like him, make one yourself."
Chen Kai glanced at Tian Zhuangzhuang, then steeled his heart. "Fine, I'll do it! I refuse to believe this old farmer can hold me back. The top spot in the country is mine!!!"
Wang Hui and Zhang Yimou chatted happily, sharing drinks and songs. Zhang Yimou then looked at the two old classmates. Before he could speak, Chen Hong, a family member, delivered her congratulatory message.
"Director Zhang, congratulations! Hero is really well made. Old Chen and I both went to see it, it's amazing."
Chen Kaige, standing to the side, looked at Chen Hong speechlessly, his face full of question marks. "Did I say that? I clearly pointed out a lot of the hero's bad points!!" However, Director Chen wasn't being disrespectful; this wasn't the right occasion to say anything that could disrupt unity.
With a very serious expression, he said, "Old Zhang, you wait, I will definitely make something better than yours."
Zhang Yimou was taken aback when he heard this, but he still looked at his old classmate with a smile.
"Keep it up! The Chinese market will get better and better. If you need any help, just ask."
Zhang Yimou was being sincere; he wanted to help his old classmate. Shen Fang already had partners in North America, including high-ranking executives at Universal Music, with money and influence. He could certainly help overseas. But in Chen Kaige's eyes, this was blatant provocation. "What do you mean? Huh? Who do you think I am? I don't need your help!"
Before he could even get angry, Tian Zhuangzhuang and Chen Hong pulled him into having a drink with Zhang Yimou.
Zhang Yimou turned and left, while Chen Kaige's character became a hot topic.
