Sixty-three
Later, when they left the palace, they met three people selling candied haws. They bought all of them. Except for one person who kept one to eat, the rest were packed up by the servants and taken back to the palace.
The two were strolling when three children came towards them.
At this time, one of the boys noticed them, took a few steps towards them, and asked, "Brother, where did you buy your candied haws? We have been walking around for a long time and haven't seen any."
The two culprits who had looted all the candied haws on the entire street were now feeling extremely guilty.
Yun Qi coughed lightly, squatted down and gently held the boy's arm. It was a pity that the boy had already eaten the string in his hand, otherwise he would have given it to the child.
"Well... we bought the last two strings. I guess there won't be any left on this street today."
"Ah..." the boy was disappointed, "Okay then..."
Yun Qi thought for a moment and glanced sideways at Ling Junyan.
Ling Junyan understood instantly, and then he glanced to the side and said, "Don't worry, it will be there soon."
"Really?" the boy asked excitedly, his eyes shining.
Ling Junyan nodded.
Seeing this, the boy turned around and looked at two children younger than him. It was obvious that one was his younger brother and the other was his younger sister.
So, Yunqi and Ling Junyan waited with the three children in the small teahouse nearby for a while.
After about a cup of tea, several guards dressed as common people came forward, each holding a bundle, to report.
Several people gathered around their table, and the three children were so surprised to see so many candied haws that they couldn't close their mouths.
Yun Qi looked up at the vicious expressions of the guards and their mighty bodies with light on their backs, as if they were not carrying sugar ball targets but thirty-meter-long swords.
And...
"You guys...are not going to take down all the ones on the other street as well?"
After hearing the Queen's question, their facial expressions improved a little, at least people would not suspect that they had a grudge against them.
"Yes, sir." One of them said righteously.
Yun Qi: "Yeah..."
Headache.
Yun Qi couldn't help but hold his forehead.
Ling Junyan didn't think it was a big deal. Although his original intention was just for them to buy a few, there's no such thing as too much of a good thing. The result would be the same anyway, as long as they could eat it.
So Ling Junyan felt at ease and said arrogantly: "Take all these."
At this point, no matter how much the three children wanted to eat candied haws, they were forced to understand the principle of knowing when to stop.
So the boy waved his hand and said, "We don't need so many..."
Ling Junyan didn't care and was about to speak.
Suddenly, a voice of condemnation was heard not far away.
“That’s them!”
When a few people looked over, what they saw was a group of children?
Before they could figure out what was going on, they heard the leading child say, "They took away all the candied haws!"
Yun Qi: “?”
Ling Junyan: "..."
Three children: “?…?”
The guards: "!"
Yun Qi asked the guard, "Does that mean they chased you for two blocks?"
A guard said, "Your Majesty, we didn't notice it at the time."
Ling Junyan: "Let's see what they say first."
When the group of children gathered around, I counted them and found there were about ten of them.
The leader, with his head held high and his chest puffed out, was full of arrogance. He immediately asked, "Why are you so domineering?"
Ling Junyan had been in the scheming royal family for many years, and now seeing a child from an ordinary family coming to "make trouble", he was really interested.
So he pretended not to understand and asked, "Why do you think so?"
"This is the evidence!" the child said, pointing at what the guards were carrying.
Ling Junyan glanced in the direction he was pointing and said, "But these were all bought with real money by my men. We didn't fight over them, didn't grab them, and even queued up for them. It can't be our fault just because you came too late and didn't buy them, right?"
The child thought briefly, then crossed his arms and imitated the adult's tone: "Okay, we won't bully the minority because of our numbers. So, let's give each other face. Since you said real money, we will buy a few from you. What do you think?"
Yunqi almost couldn't help laughing out loud.
The contrast of hearing such familiar words spoken by a child who looked less than ten years old was really huge.
Ling Junyan, on the other hand, was very calm and even bargained with the child, "I don't think it's a good idea. After all, my people have come such a long way and worked so hard to bring it back. The same amount of money but the payment is not equal. That's not how business works."
"Then...then we still chased him this far." The child accidentally let out a word, quickly covering his mouth, and then carefully letting go. "Then what do you say we should do?"
Ling Junyan raised the corner of his mouth slightly and glanced at the dozen or so children. "Are you their leader?"
"I'm their eldest brother. They won't be left without me. You...you name the conditions. As long as I can do it."
Even though he was obviously scared, he still stood at the front. He was very brave and loyal.
"Here's what I'll give you: If you can please me within five sentences, I'll only keep one bunch of candied haws and give the rest away for free."
"real?"
"One sentence."
The child immediately straightened his attitude.
Yun Qi watched quietly as Ling Junyan lied to the child without any bottom line, and was too lazy to expose him.
This child may have never had such a brainstorming experience in his life.
He wanted to praise Ling Junyan at first, but!
He found the highlight!
He noticed that the person sitting next to Ling Junyan also had the same ring on his ring finger.
Exactly the same.
From this he came to a conclusion that quickly passed through his mind, but when he thought about it carefully he felt that it was extremely smart!
"You two are such a good match!"
"Take it."
"Huh?" Yun Qi didn't react.
Ling Junyan, who was standing next to him, directly ordered the guards to stuff all the remaining candied haws into the hands of the group of children. Two or three of them ran away happily with a bunch in their hands.
I believe that at this moment, the image of this big brother in the minds of these children will be extremely majestic.
Now the three people sitting at the same table with them didn’t think the gourds were too many, so they took the rest, thanked them and left.
Ling Junyan drank the tea contentedly.
"Are you happy?" Yun Qi asked.
Ling Junyan nodded without concealing anything.
“Virtue…”
"Gentlemen, could you please come upstairs and have a chat?"
Hearing this voice, Yunqi and Ling Junyan's expressions were startled at the same time. They looked up and found that someone on the second floor of the teahouse had been observing them for a long time.
Still an acquaintance.
Seeing this, the guard was about to draw his sword.
Ling Junyan raised his hand to stop them and said, "Wait outside."
Seeing that the guard was obviously worried, the man added, "Don't worry, I'm an old acquaintance of your two young masters, and I promise I won't harm them."
Speaking of old acquaintances, the two of them stared at the person upstairs.
It’s been a long time since we last met, He Qi’an.
