Chapter 154 Parents

Chapter 154 Parents

The few remaining zombies were killed one by one, leaving only a mess on the beach.

The adventurers gathered again. The archmage did a simple divination and followed the traces left by the vampire. Lynch returned to the rainforest from the north along the coast.

The moonlight flowed onto the warriors, bouncing off Lynch's scepter and the pendant in his right hand.

Apart from the occasional cold light reflected from the silver holy emblem, the pendant no longer had any magical power.

Lynch did not abandon the holy emblem because of this. It is a good souvenir.

It doesn't look like a creation of a cold-blooded species, but more like it was made by an elf.

Perhaps the Archmage knew its origins, but Teclis had never paid any attention to it, as if it were just a decoration.

Lynch did not take the initiative to ask what the symbols on the pendant meant in elven culture.

He hopes to retain this curiosity, and more importantly, the great wizard may not know its origin.

This holy emblem is definitely not an ordinary thing. The strange things Lynch had encountered before are enough to prove this.

The march became boring. The dwarves would occasionally steal glances at the gold ornaments on Lynch's back, and the humans became surprisingly quiet.

Lynch actually preferred their chattering; the silence in the dark was too boring.

Fortunately, this silence was soon broken by the strange jungle.

There were headless figures in the bushes, like puddles of mud, clinging to the low tree trunks.

Lynch approached these headless corpses, they should be the missing townspeople.

All the townspeople are placed in arbitrary postures like mollusks.

Obviously, they have no bones.

Glenn vomited at the bloody scene. In a trance, the witch hunter saw the corpse move.

He blinked, only to find it was just an illusion.

The lizardmen did not react, and the archmage did not raise any alarm. These beings, who were far more powerful than him, confirmed the safety of this place.

The human was looking at the corpse nervously, and as his gaze lingered, he saw again, as if by illusion, that the corpse had changed its posture.

A chill hit Glenn's brain. He tried to open his mouth to ask his teammates if they had noticed anything unusual, but found that he couldn't move at all.

Glenn vaguely heard his parents calling him.

"Glenn Wendell~"

Glenn could even hear the concern in his mother's words and the rebuke in his father's tone.

The call sounded again, and the warm words made the witch hunter's hair stand on end.

His parents disappeared twenty years ago. Even if they were not dead, they should not appear in the dangerous rainforest of the New World.

Glenn followed the team mechanically. He tried to speed up, or slow down so that his teammates would notice his abnormality, but no matter how he called his body, it did not respond.

It was as if another soul had taken over his body, and he could only watch like an outsider, the body he had used for almost thirty years.

"Glenn Wendell~Do you see me? I'm here, stop being naughty and come back soon!"

The call came from deep in the jungle, but in Glenn's sight, there were only more and more headless corpses in the depths of the jungle.

Glenn was not intoxicated by the familiar voice. In fact, his parents were more accustomed to calling him by his nickname rather than his full name.

The long-lost voice did not bring Glenn a trace of warmth, but only made him feel an indelible chill all over his body.

He prayed anxiously to Sigma, hoping that his teammates would notice his abnormality, but what seemed like half a day of agony to him was just a few blinks of an eye in the outside world.

Slowly, Glenn felt the gaze of his "parents".

Two dead and empty gazes emerged from the north, deeply hurting Glenn's skin.

"Glenn Wendell."

The familiar voice appeared again, only slightly distorted, like an impatient diner praying for a sumptuous dinner.

Then, Glenn's gaze passed through the layers of leaves and saw a presence calling to him that he shouldn't have seen.

They were two emaciated human heads, and they were indeed Glenn's parents, just partially.

In the blink of an eye, the head disappeared again.

The terrifying feeling of being watched came from all directions, like two human heads quickly shuttling through the jungle, not forgetting to keep an eye on their son at all times.

The call came again, but Glenn could no longer determine their location.

As Glenn was praying rapidly, a hot and moist breath licked his left ear, followed by a low moan that accompanied the hot breath, causing Glenn's heart to stop.

"Glenn."

A horrifying sound of breaking through the air was heard, deafening his left ear.

The lizard man's staff pierced accurately into the void above his left shoulder, as if it had hit an invisible object.

Glenn suddenly woke up and regained control of his body. Only then did he realize that sweat had soaked through his leather armor.

The witch hunter took out his pocket watch. Although it had long lost its accuracy, he was still able to judge that the abnormality occurred in the blink of an eye, and in that state, he felt like he had already spent a whole night.

He moved closely to the lizard man, huddled between the lizard man and the archmage, and gave a flattering smile under their strange gazes.

"It's just a vengeful spirit."

Teclis shrugged at him, and Glenn gradually relaxed. It seemed that everything was under the control of the wizard, and there would be no unexpected danger.

Lynch was just surprised that the vengeful spirit suddenly appeared on the witch hunter's shoulder.

The next second, a cold gaze emerged from behind the human, causing Glenn's relaxed body to stiffen again.

"Something's coming." Glenn tried to warn his teammates.

The Archmage stood silently, carefully sensing the flow of magic power, frowned, and said comfortingly:

"I think not! Don't be too nervous. Fear will only bring deeper fear."

Lynch was curious about how humans were so cautious about everything, and subconsciously searched the rainforest again.

There were no enemies, only a pile of limp headless corpses.

These headless corpses did not reveal their mystery. To be cautious, Lynch led the hot-blooded people to stop at the edge of the woods.

If they don't jump up and fight soon, let the wizard's magical ritual give them a complete sleep.

The witch hunter's fearful expression did not seem fake. Lynch looked around again and still did not notice any physical enemy.

Of course, it couldn’t be a vengeful spirit, because Lynch could see vengeful spirits.

Until the great wizard finished drawing the magic circle, nothing unusual happened.

It turns out that Glenn was just scaring himself because Lynch never got the surprise he wanted.

No enemy appeared, but the witch hunter looked more nervous. His fear was so strong that it was enough to overshadow the emotions of other hot-blooded people.

During the preparations for the ceremony, the soft-bodied corpses scattered throughout the jungle seemed to have regained their souls and jumped up like ratmen.

They were like the most agile assassins, escaping into the shadows.

Lynch became excited. He liked enemies that he could see and touch.

Strangely, the hunting sense did not mark any enemies for him.
