Chapter 23 Ideals
In front of Lin Qi, among the rotting corpses, eight humans were lying in a mess.
The slightly curled blades of their swords indicated that this was a brutal battle.
The old warrior who was in better condition tried his best to turn to face the northeast, muttering an unknown language that sounded like a person's name, and his cloudy eyes gradually lost their luster.
At this point, the only one left was the young man holding down the vampire lord.
When it was confirmed that the vampire was dead, Lynch looked at Grimm beside him, and the dwarf understood and walked to the young man.
After a brief conversation, Grimm responded to Lynch in a loud voice from a not-so-far distance.
The two lost people talked about the sudden arrival of the human adventure team in their hometown accents.
A language that did not belong to this world appeared in the hall, and the young man looked at the two people who were talking with a slightly lonely look.
"The communication between us doesn't need to be so tortuous."
A slightly magnetic voice interrupted Lynch's questioning. This was another visitor from another world.
If Roman knew the news, he would be happy, but he was too big and had to stay outside the fortress.
The three outsiders who had already integrated into the alien world looked at each other, and all kinds of emotions melted away in silence.
Except for Lynch, it is now difficult for him to understand the sorrow of mortals.
The cold-blooded lizard man interrupted the pervasive atmosphere of sadness, and Lynch explored the young man's past.
"Tell me about your experience. You look like you are from Bretonnia, the kingdom of knights."
The strange accent of the cold-blooded person is destined to make people shiver even if they use the familiar hometown dialect.
The young knight half-lying on the ground, leaning against the long sword stuck in the vampire, responded: "Yes, I spent another childhood there, and it was not a pleasant one."
The dwarf looked at the knight in surprise. It seemed that this fellow countryman had more experience than the two people present.
Lynch's eyes swept across the oil lamps hanging on the stone pillars in the hall. The torches on both sides of the aisle seemed not to be there and seemed a little redundant.
The knight looked towards the northeast, his eyes filled with either compassion or resentment.
The torches in the hall seemed to grow brighter, and the flames lengthened the shadows of the three visitors from other worlds.
The knight said in a self-deprecating and funny tone:
"I am the eldest son of a noble baron! I have the noble bloodline of the Minel family.
How could those lowly peasants deserve the same favor from the lady as I do?
But how dare they disobey the Lady and instead pray to the Goddess of Mercy for mercy?"
The dwarf snorted with disdain. He could see that the knight was being sarcastic, so he did not shout at him violently.
Lynch was as cold and motionless as the heartless Razkoto. Since he became a lizard man, his emotions have become less sensitive.
Lynch simply summoned the skin lizards and asked them to treat Baron Minel's wounds.
Minelle continued to laugh in a suppressed voice as if to vent her feelings.
"Yes! They might even be heretics. How could the noble Louis de Miner be friends with serfs!"
"Then why did our noble eldest son of the baron appear in this land where no male dog can enter?
Don't you short-haired cowards like living in shoddy castles? "Grimm shouted impatiently, interrupting Louis's sarcastic remarks.
He had reason to look down on the sturdy fortresses that humans had rebuilt on the ruins of the elves, because in the Old World, no buildings were more magnificent than the cities that the Mountain Kingdoms had presented to their ancestors.
"He appears here, just like you."
Lynch turned his head and glared at Grimm. After the previous battle with Grimm's swearing noise bombardment, he found that his lower limit of acceptance of civilization was even lower.
If you tell others that a dwarf is not even more polite than a cold-blooded lizard, he will definitely think Lynch is joking if he is not afraid of Lynch's claws that are flashing with cold light.
The slightly rough treatment of the wound by the lizard made Louis couldn't help but let out a barely audible groan of pain, and Louis smiled with relief.
"Then I'll give the damn title to my younger brother. I don't want to be a benevolent lord like my father."
The two rows of torches in the hall leading to the lord's throne became darker and thicker like blood.
Lynch looked at the flames warily, while Louis and Grimm, who were not sensitive enough to evil, were still communicating in a disjointed manner.
Grimm seemed to know about the kingdom north of Seagate, and his loud laughter attracted the attention of another dwarf butcher.
Seeing that nothing was happening here, the dwarf butcher prepared to go downstairs to search for some supplies.
"I heard, damn! You knights who believe in the Lady of the Lake are all extremely noble. You are the role models for all knights!" The dwarf teased and fanned the flames.
The dwarf who was laughing with his head raised suddenly stopped and looked at the skull decoration on the dome in confusion.
Even though it was a truly dead person, its position seemed different from before, so it wasn't completely dead?
Lynch noticed this as well, but he was more concerned with the restless blood and fire.
The smile on Louis' handsome face stopped, and his voice suddenly became unusually gentle.
"Yes! Yes. I still remember the fair judgment of Baron Minerre."
"Faced with a thief, the Baron showed leniency by only cutting off his ten fingers!"
In a quip from Lewis, Lynch points the scepter at the flames, and Kotego's creation becomes so hot that it looks angry.
"That doesn't sound fucking bad. Such a punishment is just a little fucking extreme." The dwarf snorted and laughed, his eyes fixed on the skeleton on the dome.
Lynch focused on observing the flames and ignored the dwarf's increasingly harsh interjections.
"But he was just an old man who didn't want to die on an empty stomach in the winter. He just hid a small bowl of coarse grains. Those inferior grains would not even appear on the nobles' plates!"
Louis spoke a long paragraph at a very fast pace, breathing heavily.
There were only three fellow villagers left in the hall. After the skin lizards were sure that there was nothing worth collecting in the hall, they also crawled down the stairs.
"Madam!"
Louis looked at the bandaged wounds on his body, sighed sadly, and slowly lay on the ground as if he had lost all his strength.
"After that, my father became famous for his compassion for the people."
Louis looked up at the dome of the hall with gloomy eyes, and when he noticed the gradually richer yellow-green color on the skull, his scattered attention was focused again.
The blood and fire leaping on the torches became more and more weird. Lynch couldn't help but walk to a torch and look at the flame that seemed to have some kind of vitality.
In the flames, a scaly claw of the deformed creature flashed quickly and then melted into the smoke.
Lin Qi's eyes suddenly became sharp, and he was enraged by this mysterious trick.
The dwarf butcher gripped his battle axe tightly and looked around the increasingly gloomy hall.
Louis used his sword to support himself and stood up to half-kneel, looking down at the sword.
He whispered the oath he made when he voluntarily gave up his title and went to find the Holy Grail of the Goddess.
But this time he used the local language, and it was more solemn and pious than before in the palace under the gaze of all the nobles.
"Put aside my spear, take off my helmet.
Say goodbye to my dear and eliminate my worldly worries.
Abandon everything and seek what I want.
The future is bright, who can stop it?
With so much suffering, who can I turn to?
The bright moon, no time to look back.
Where the goddess is, my body and mind will stay!"
After reading it, Louis stood up tremblingly, straightened his chest, and moved closer to Lynch and the dwarf with his sword in hand.
The three strangers protected each other's backs, although Lynch didn't really need to, because his thick tail was not just for decoration!
A chilling glance emerged from between the two rows of torches and then disappeared.
