Chapter 75: Immortal City
The crows made the elves nervous. Lin Qi slowly turned around and looked at the old man in black robe who appeared quietly on the ancient tree.
The blind and scarred old man was stunned for a moment, and then he explained loudly and anxiously:
"Dear champion! I swear in the name of all gods! This is a coincidence!"
Who would believe him? Although the voices were different, the timid guy's voice was a little sharper.
Since they are all minions of the devil, Lynch doesn't mind killing this "prophet".
"Catch him!"
Lynch urged the archmage bluntly, and Tigris hesitated for a moment before chanting the spell.
The crow's cry sounded again, a white crow flew over the old man's head, and the prophet disappeared.
"The treasures of the ancient saints have been covered in dust! Great champion, you should go to the sea and take back everything you deserve! The demon symbolizing fate is spreading its influence, and it has threatened the grand plan!"
The hurried words echoed in Lynch's ears, and in return Lynch sneered viciously.
Lynch thinks this old man also threatens the big plan!
It was nothing more than an internal fight among demons, who dared to seduce Lynch and use him to achieve their goals.
"Perhaps you should listen to his advice! Although this prophet hides in the shadows, the future he sees is valuable."
Tigris made some pertinent suggestions, but unfortunately Lynch knew the "prophet" better than he did.
"Elf cub, do not listen to the whispers from the darkness, it will lead you astray from the right path!"
The cold-blooded man stated the facts coldly and sternly, admonishing with the attitude of an "elder".
Tigris didn't want to agree, but the increasingly brighter and deeper light and shadow on Lynch made him shut up, and he just silently refuted a few words in his heart.
Being too conservative will lead to missing important opportunities. Sometimes some bold attempts are needed to better protect the world.
Lynch couldn't read other people's minds, and had no idea why this seemingly submissive "young" race dared to question him.
The brief conflict did not drive away the prying eyes of those around, but it was mixed with a hint of sarcasm.
From time to time, thin shadows swept through the jungle. Where Lynch could not see, the shadows slowly walked into the distance and collapsed into a bat or a huge insect.
The moonlight failed to penetrate the mottled shadows of the trees. Whenever Lynch looked away, they would tremble secretly, easing the fear in their hearts.
The travelers continued their journey, but there were more mosquitoes to comfort them.
Fortunately, even the insects didn't want to be illuminated by the light of Kotego. In Lynch's meaningful smile, the elves and mosquitoes shuddered together.
The evening breeze brought whispers from afar. These peepers apparently did not realize that the lizardmen and elves were not mortals and their perception was far more terrifying than they imagined.
What was supposed to be a conspiracy in the dark turned into a loud discussion in front of Lynch. Fortunately, they used human language, which Lynch could not understand.
But Teclis understood.
"That glowing weapon. I've seen a bounty on it."
"What should I do? I saw this night through the crystal mirror, and I have to pay the price for my wish!"
"You want to escape? Idiot! Unless you can get rid of your own shadow, don't even think about escaping from the Mirror God."
"Think about the hardships we went through while wandering. The wise man has been kind to us. Don't you know how to be grateful? If not for completing the deal with the mirror god, then for the teacher."
"We are mutants, huh, why do we have such weak emotions?"
"Yes, we are mutants, deformed children, and should be killed by Sigmar followers, but we are also human beings!"
"Haha, death is not the end, why are you afraid? What I saw in the mirror was also tonight."
"He is right. The Invisible Island is our destination. We will gain eternity there. Tonight is the night of destiny."
The bright light approached in the blink of an eye, so much so that the companions on guard had no time to warn.
The twisted figures all looked towards the lizard man wielding the scepter, their gazes filled with a mixture of realization and despair. The sun's rays purified the impurities.
The late arrival of the Archmage could not help but whispered, "You should leave a few behind so that we can get more information."
"There's no point, elf cub, you'll only be told what the devil wants you to know."
Lynch knows the nature of his enemies too well. This ability to change undoubtedly comes from the God of Change.
As long as the followers of the God of Change can still make sounds, they are a threat.
No one is better than them at spreading rumors and replacing truth with falsehood.
The rest of the journey was much quieter, and signs of lizardman activity had already appeared in the rainforest.
The cruising shadow stopped behind him, and Lynch smelled the scent of its own kind.
Sure enough, dozens of spirit lizards, leading several giant lizards carrying stones, slowly appeared in Lynch's sight.
When they discovered Lynch and the elves, these lizards began chattering. Finally, the leading purple-crowned lizard walked respectfully to Lynch and waited for the lizard man's orders.
"Continue your mission."
The Coldblooded Champion did not want to disturb the Skinks' work, so he could find the Eternal City on his own.
Obviously, unless Shilan personally stopped him, no other cold-blooded creature would stop him from wandering around the city with a group of Asur.
Ruins and abandoned logging sites appeared in the forest.
Occasionally, you can see the ashes left over from burned villages, which are the marks of destruction brought by the previous Black Sun.
The eternal Oxo, also known as the Immortal City, was once destroyed and the rebuilt city lost the glory of its ancient times.
At present, it seems that the devil did not destroy it for the second time. After the catastrophe of the Black Sun, it still stands firmly on the mountain.
It was as if some god had cut away the top of the mountain, and this ancient city stood on a lower cliff on the side of the Spine of Sotek.
This pearl is surrounded by mountains. Unlike those cities that hide themselves in the rainforest, if you pass through a rainforest of giant trees hundreds of meters high and come to the foot of the mountain, you can see a glimpse of the Eternal City through the gaps between the treetops.
Coincidentally, Lynch arrived here at dawn.
The sun shines on the Eternal City, and the golden Tallinn blurs in the dawn.
With a group of pyramids that seemed to be in the sun, pure light was projected in front of Lynch.
That doesn't look like a human building, it looks more like the residence of gods!
Even the well-informed Asur could not help being stunned by the magnificent light and shadow.
The Eternal City overlooks the northern rainforest and the plains further south in the daylight.
The gentle slope is the only way leading to the temple city. When Lynch and Asur stepped into it, the dense sense of prying eyes overwhelmed the travelers.
In a flash, from time to time, a lizard would show up and salute Lynch, and the originally quiet jungle suddenly became lively.
Lynch even saw several of Huangqi's blessed ones, blessed spirit lizards with black marks.
