Chapter 1 My Resurgence

Chapter 1 My Resurgence

The consciousness was in a dark chaos. I could not see anything, I could not hear anything, I just felt confused and there were almost no traceable fragments in the vague fragmented memories.

who I am?

Carl.

A soul in a broken state.

Gradually, Karl recalled that his former self was not called Karl, but "Chen Ling", and came from another completely different world.

Am I a time traveler?

In the endless darkness, Carl, who was in a broken soul state, gradually recalled his past life.

I had just graduated from a key university and had a job in business sales. I ran around every day for a living and talked big. Finally, at the end of the night after work, a drunk client forced me to leave.

The memory of the previous life also ended here. It seems that I was indeed sent to death by the client.

Carl found that his current situation was extremely bleak. He could only recall a small part of his memory, and in the deepest part of his soul there were ten completely different and extremely heavy "things" suppressing his memory.

The deep understanding in the subconscious mind is that they should be "seals" from different existences, as if more memories can be restored as long as the seals can be opened.

He initially wandered in darkness for a long time, not knowing how to change the current situation, until he accidentally absorbed a trace of weak spiritual power into his body, and his soul began to show signs of recovery.

The least heaviest of the ten seals finally showed signs of loosening.

Karl instinctively and greedily absorbed the source of this spiritual power, constantly restoring and strengthening his soul.

As he absorbed more power, his five senses gradually recovered, and he discovered that the source of that spiritual power was a completely transparent glass bottle.

In his subconscious mind, it is a "mysterious object" with extraordinary power, and the spiritual power contained in it can just become the nourishment for Carl to restore his soul.

Suddenly, he seemed to walk out of the dark and lightless world and was finally able to "see" the things around him.

An old, dilapidated wooden house, damp, with only two wooden beds on both sides, covered with straw mats. The room was narrow, but all kinds of sundries were still neatly arranged.

The transparent bottle carrying Carl's soul was on a wooden bed. The transparent glass bottle was only slightly bigger than a palm and was unremarkable. Next to it were old clothes with a slight smell, washed pots, bowls, spoons and other sundries.

From the open door of the wooden house, you can see the night sky outside. The stars are sparse, the air is very fresh, and you can clearly see two moons hanging high in the night sky.

One is red, the other is bright.

Sure enough, this place is not the original world, Carl sighed inwardly.

He missed his hometown very much. It was okay when he was in a daze and felt like he was dreaming, but now that he was conscious and couldn't access the Internet, he felt uncomfortable all over.

Bad news, I am so weak that a gust of wind can extinguish me. This is undoubtedly the start of a difficult mode hell.

Carl began to explore what he could do, and soon discovered that his vision was not limited to the surroundings. Instead, he could raise and zoom out with the bottle as the center, with the highest and farthest range being five kilometers.

To the north of the wooden cabin is a fairly large subtropical forest, which is so large that there is no visible boundary.

To the south is the reclaimed light brown land. At the end of the cracked stone road is a seaside town full of weathered white-gray buildings. The sea breeze carries a slightly salty smell.

Through communication between the residents in the town, Carl soon learned that this was Nasir, a port town on the east coast of the Kingdom of Syat. The people in the town mainly made a living by fishing and shipping. Most of them lived a self-sufficient life, and many of them had almost never left here in their entire lives.

As for the residents of the cabin, they were two young children.

The older sister, Irene Fisher, was about thirteen or fourteen years old. She had a strong personality, long black hair, bright eyes, and healthy skin.

Her younger brother was still in his infancy and needed his sister to bring goat milk from the town every day so that he could survive, eat and sleep.

Their parents had been gone for more than ten days and had not returned, and life became increasingly difficult for the brother and sister living on the edge of town.

Irene is an extremely strong and principled girl. She never begs for help from the townspeople. Instead, she picks wild fruits from the trees in the forest or helps the townspeople with their work, trying to exchange supplies as fairly as possible.

Even if she was extremely hungry, she would never let her brother go hungry. At night, she would sometimes hide in a corner and cry silently, then force a smile to coax her brother to sleep.

The baby in the cradle is very well-behaved, with light silver hair and eyes, and round cheeks. He never cries or screams, but often stares at his sister's face intently.

Carl gradually realized one thing: the parents of the two Fischer kids would probably never come back and were probably dead.

The world out there is definitely not safe and can even be quite cruel and dangerous.

The young brother and sister are still able to survive for now, but without help from outsiders, they will not survive this winter.

As time passed, he was finally about to completely absorb the spiritual power in the transparent bottle, which gradually transformed into a rune deep in his soul.

It was a rune in the shape of green grass with a strong breath of life and emerald green color, giving a soft and warm feeling like spring.

But the heavy seal on the soul showed no signs of loosening further.

Carl realized that the spiritual power contained in the bottle was far from enough to completely break through the first seal.

I need more power!

However, he was possessed in the small bottle and could not move, nor even utter a word. He had no idea how to find the mysterious object with spiritual power.

Carl silently observed the siblings for more than ten days, trying over and over, but he was never able to successfully communicate with them.

"How can this be true? I can hear without ears, and I can see without eyes, but why can't I speak without a mouth?"

He fell into deep thought. If he could communicate, he would be able to find a way to use the power of others to help him obtain the mysterious object.

——

At night, a smell of earth wafts through the air, and thunder flashes faintly in the dark sky, and heavy rain is about to pour down.

The sky was gloomy and gray with dark clouds, and lightning and thunder staged a breathtaking symphony between heaven and earth, like a horrifying picture scroll, as if even the gods of nature were roaring in anger at this moment.

"boom!"

It suddenly started to rain heavily outside!

Irene knelt down in the house with her head down, mumbling to herself.

"Lord Poseidon and the gods in heaven, I pray to you, please let my parents come back."

Her prayers received no response at all.

Irene shed tears. There were not many things left in the house that could be exchanged, and she had no way of raising her younger brother smoothly.

Why?

What if the great gods of the world cannot save us?

Could it be that

The gods don’t care about the world at all?

Irene has always had many dreams for the future. She wants to watch her younger brother grow up, leave town and see the outside world, and experience everything she has never experienced before.

Even though her parents are missing, she still bravely takes care of her younger brother alone, and continues to overcome difficulties and obstacles to live to this day, all because of this little hope for the future.

"Why don't gods protect us..."

At this moment, the girl was suddenly startled and realized that there seemed to be danger approaching the cabin.

There was a shadow swaying in the dark jungle outside, looking malicious. The danger contained in the pouring rain almost suffocated the girl.

Irene was extremely surprised and talked to herself subconsciously.

"Who is it?"

In the storm, five men wearing animal skins, holding sharp blades and with black facial markings on their faces gradually walked out of the woods outside.

Their faces showed undisguised hunger as they swarmed towards the cabin where Irene and her brother lived.

"Don't resist in vain!"

The men in animal skins with black facial patterns rushed in, raised their weapons with malicious intent, and ordered the shocked Irene not to even think about escaping.

"Who are you?"

Irene was horrified. The black-faced man wearing animal skins suddenly grabbed her arm and dragged her violently outside.

She was quickly dragged out of the house by five men and pressed into the wet mud.

My younger brother, who was less than one year old, was also carried out during the rainstorm. They stared at the baby as if he were an animal.

The baby in the cradle burst into tears.

Irene was shaking all over in the mud and could only wail and beg them to let her brother go.

"Please let my brother go. You can do anything to me, just let him go!"

No one would pay attention to the pleas of the weak, and all that was left for Irene was despair.

The old man who was the leader of the five men was wearing high-quality animal skins and a strange black elk headdress, as if he was a priest of a primitive tribe.

He calmly drew a large circle around the siblings with the blade of a knife, chanting, "We worship you, bloody demon", "We want to offer you a pure sacrifice", "Please give us protection".

The other four men also had expressions of awe on their faces and they all knelt down around him.

Lying on the ground unable to struggle, Irene was filled with fear and despair.

In addition, there is also a strong sense of unwillingness and anger!

Why?

I have been working very hard all along, relying on my own strong hands to protect the future for myself and my brother, but I have not received any hope or response at all.

I clearly haven't given up hope, I'm working hard, and I'm even looking forward to a future that I don't know whether it will come or not.

And at this moment, all my expectations for the future and a better future were easily trampled upon by the sudden malice.

All the persistence during this period seems extremely ridiculous.

Carl had already noticed the sudden appearance of outsiders and observed secretly. They were obviously not the Nasir people in the town.

He zoomed in. Could these people be the nearby bandits?

No, they don't look like bandits at all, but more like... cultists.

He had heard Irene and the townspeople talk about various mysterious things, and knew that supernatural powers were not uncommon in this world.

After more than ten days of silent observation, Carl developed a sense of intimacy with the brother and sister he first met in the world, and he didn't want them to die by his side.

But now he can do nothing but watch.

Irene lay on the ground, covered in mud, mumbling to herself.

"Why, why is this happening...Who can save us?"

"Anyone please save us!"

Her eyes were red, and her glaring pupils were filled with despair and anger.

"Take anything from me, save my family!"

The next moment, something extremely miraculous happened!

When she said from the bottom of her heart, "You can take anything from me," Carl suddenly found a light blue light on the girl's chest, and a light blue sphere emerged.

That seemed to be the soul.

It's loose!

It seemed that he could really take advantage of the opportunity to snatch the girl's soul like the devil in the myth.

In addition, other colors of light appear around the soul, including pure white, pink, blue-green, crimson, and orange-yellow, representing longevity, emotions, memory, senses, and wisdom.

For some reason, Carl could instinctively draw on all the light within Irene's body as a "weapon".

But if this is done, what will happen to the girl herself? If you lose your lifespan, will you die on the spot?

They were already dead.

In order to change his current prison-like situation, Carl wanted to try anything he could, so he tried to concentrate and try to extract some of the white light.

In the imagination, the white light was drawn out by the invisible hand of thought and suspended high in the air. It was like a white torch that cut through all the darkness in the night!

The cultists completely failed to notice the flashing white light in the night, and simply ignored it and could not see it.

Only Irene looked up blankly at the scene.

She looked at the white light in the sky in disbelief. It was full of great power and beauty, like a blade of judgment for the world. It was awe-inspiring and completely impossible to look away.

"What on earth is that?"
