Chapter 65 Tea Party
"Chris, do you want to come to the party with me? Your sister won't mind, will she?"
Outside the Fisher family's house, Margaret in the carriage frowned and asked Chris.
"Won't."
Chris shook his head silently and said no more.
If someone else did this, Margaret would think that the other person was angry or disrespected her, but everyone knew Chris's situation.
He is really a very quiet child.
Margaret didn't like Byrne's arrangement very much. It was normal to tell him every time she went to a party, but she had to carry the paper and bring guards with her, which made her feel that Byrne didn't respect Mrs. Isaac very much.
Recently, she always felt that Byrne was becoming more and more assertive. The gentle man in the past was obviously not that kind of person.
The carriage slowly drove towards the residence of Isaac Knight's family in Nasir Town.
White fog covered the streets of Nasir. The world was so quiet that it was almost isolated from the outside world. The two people in the carriage gradually could not hear the sounds from outside. Only the repetitive and rhythmic sound of the wheels kept echoing in their ears.
"We are here, Madam Margaret, Master Chris."
The coachman's voice sounded outside, and Margaret said in the car: "Thank you for your hard work. Chris and I will come out at the old time."
The two men who got off the carriage and a female guard came to the Isaac family's manor together.
In the quiet manor, the tranquility and pleasant scenery make people intoxicated. When they step into the gate of the manor, they are greeted by a stone path with flower beds on both sides planted with colorful flowers.
The two followed the path deeper into the cave, and a lush green area appeared before them. The vast lawn was as smooth as a green carpet, but the visibility was much lower in the fog, which was a pity.
The Isaac Knight Family is the most historic knight family among the several knight families in Nasir. Their ancestor was already a knight when the Syat people were still members of the Flame Clan.
Mrs. Isaac had emerged from the mansion with several servants.
It was the first time that Chris met Mrs. Isaac, a female blood knight and the head of the Isaac family.
She looked to be just over fifty years old, with wrinkles at the corners of her eyes, sagging skin, and extremely high cheekbones that highlighted her serious look, but her deep-set eyes still sparkled with wisdom and strength.
"Good day, Margaret."
Mrs. Isaac nodded slightly, her tone serious.
"Good day, Mrs. Isaac. I have brought a child here today who also wishes to hear the teachings of the moon."
Margaret responded with a smile, no doubt close to Mrs. Isaac.
She married and moved from the city of Finn to the remote town of Nasir. She had few friends and felt increasingly lonely. Mrs. Isaac's gatherings gave Margaret a lot of emotional value.
Mrs. Isaac then looked at Chris and nodded calmly and solemnly.
"Chris, you are Ms. Irene's brother, right? I've heard of you, and you are as beautiful as the rumors say."
She frowned slightly as she spoke, as if giving compliments was a difficult thing.
Chris actually didn't like being praised for his beauty, but he didn't say anything.
"Chris, he is indeed a very handsome boy. His sister, Ms. Irene, is also a beautiful woman. The bloodline of the Fisher family has always been good in appearance."
Margaret smiled. In fact, the Fisher family was indeed very attractive. The low point in the family's appearance was her obese son, Darren.
However, Margaret didn't think her son was fat at all, and she was certain that her son would become a handsome man when he grew up.
Mrs. Isaac nodded and continued, "As I told you, I have actually met Ms. Irene several times. She cured the hidden disease in my legs, and I was deeply impressed by the girl's temperament."
"Let's go, don't keep others waiting, let's go to the party."
She and Chris followed Mrs. Isaac into the mansion and into the living room.
Candles were lit in the reception room, revealing a bright yellow hue. There were already more than a dozen people waiting here, and several tables were filled with tea and snacks.
Those who came to the tea party were women and children, most of them were the wives and children of the wealthy people in the town. Everyone talked enthusiastically and constantly exchanged the information they had.
"Mrs. Margaret, you are here."
"We have been waiting for you for a long time, Lady Margaret."
"Wow, this kid must be Chris, he's even cuter than you described!"
Chris naturally sat at the table where the children gathered.
Margaret smiled and talked to the women, speaking quickly and obviously excited.
"It finally doesn't rain every day anymore. The weather was really bad a while ago."
Chris, who was sitting next to the child and eating desserts in silence, suddenly realized something.
Of course, the reason why Margaret was so keen to attend the tea party was not just because of her belief in Ms. Moon.
What’s more important is the “circle” issue. Since all the rich and noble women in the town have joined in, she would easily be excluded by everyone if she refused to participate in the tea party.
Leaving Finn City and marrying here was already a sacrifice. Byrne was extremely busy, and Margaret could not find relief from his loneliness, so she joined a tea party for women to seek emotional value.
Moreover, in her eyes, there was nothing wrong with the tea party itself, it was just that her husband Byrne was a little neurotic.
The dignified Mrs. Isaac did not disturb anyone, but sat quietly in the main seat with her hands in front of her, waiting for more than half an hour.
She waited until the women had finished their conversation before she spoke:
"Everyone, please be quiet. Okay, our discussion today is about to begin."
"I hope everyone still remembers what I said last time about Lady Moon's teachings. Only she can truly care about the weak."
"As those who are rich and powerful, we should shoulder the greatest responsibility to help the weak."
Mrs. Isaac took out a volume of books belonging to the Silver Moon Church and distributed them to the women. She calmly began to interpret and discuss the doctrines. The whole process seemed extremely calm and normal.
Yes, that's normal.
The Silver Moon Sect was one of the six orthodox sects, and spreading her beliefs was not heresy in any way, so there was nothing wrong with this tea party.
The tea party lasted about two hours. At the end, Mrs. Isaac looked at Chris and stared at him meaningfully for a while. Then she turned to look at Margaret and smiled faintly.
"I suggest that everyone donate money to the orphanage opened by Ms. Irene."
Everyone was stunned. Although Mrs. Isaac had always advocated that everyone help the weak, this was the first time she asked for money.
"Everyone should know about Ms. Irene's hard work and kindness. Many people in the slums of East City have received her kindness. I have always respected her very much."
Mrs. Isaac paused, then continued, "It's a pity that she was too busy and too devout in her faith in the Lord of Redemption to come to our tea party."
“I want to contribute to the orphanage and share the heavy burden of Ms. Irene. I hope everyone can donate money together.”
She paused for a moment, and finally said calmly: "Well, I'll give you five gold coins. You don't need to take too much money, just do your best."
The development of the matter was completely unexpected by Margaret and Chris. Mrs. Isaac actually called on everyone to donate money to the Fisher family orphanage.
At the same time, in an alley hundreds of meters away from the Isaac Family Mansion, Irene, dressed in black, sat silently in a carriage, listening to all the conversations at the tea party through the "secret ear technique".
She frowned slightly and said to herself:
"It's really strange, why do I feel that she seems to be fine?"
Irene had met Mrs. Isaac several times, but had never sensed any malice from her. Her extraordinary ability to "listen to malice" had never taken effect once. The other party might really respect her.
However, the mysterious stranger mentioned by the Lord, who possessed the second-level power and carried a mysterious treasure, still gave Irene an extremely ominous premonition.
