Chapter 9 The First Pot of Gold
John is the head of the William family, a wealthy local maritime merchant family in Nasir. The William family owns two sailing ships and more than 200 sailors, and often sets out from the port to do business along the east coast.
He privately has very good relations with several knight families, demi-human clan elders, and thief gangs around the town of Nasir, and even has the opportunity to attend Baron Hoven's banquet.
John has been suffering from a rare disease since returning from overseas a few weeks ago.
His originally normal skin began to peel off and became scarred. Black blood often flowed out of the scars, and his entire mental state became aged at an unimaginable speed.
John was terrified and desperate, and soon became almost crazy. He spent a huge amount of money to hire many doctors to treat him, but all were unable to do anything.
As for the extremely rare healing spellcasters, there were simply no such people around Nasir Town.
He could only ask his eldest son to go to the Storm Church to seek help from Bishop Matthew Storm. Unfortunately, the high-ranking Bishop Storm was unwilling to come to the small place of Nasir to rescue an insignificant businessman.
The days of waiting for death were not easy. John would wake up every night, crying bitterly and praying for mercy and salvation from the Lord of Savior.
However, as the days passed, prayers were of no avail, and John's body became weaker and weaker.
He is unwilling to accept it!
I have worked hard for decades and finally earned wealth that an ordinary person cannot spend in several lifetimes. I have also helped the William family, which originally made a living by fishing, to achieve success. Why should I die so casually?
Oh Gods!
You are so harsh, cruel and disgusting!
The dying John lay on the bed unable to utter a word, but his eyes were full of malice and deep in his heart he cursed the unfair gods.
No matter who it is, even the devil in hell or the evil god in the abyss, as long as he can be saved, John is willing to pay any price he can afford!
"Master John, someone claiming to be a healing type spellcaster wants to see you."
The docile servant knelt outside, and the words he uttered were like the voice of a god, instantly bringing new life to John's eyes.
An extremely rare spellcaster with healing talent!
He was trembling and excited, and said quickly: "Hurry up and let the master spellcaster come in."
The status of extraordinary people is extremely high. It is not just an identity but also a real social class. Even if they are only extraordinary people who have reached the first level of "origin", they are still people that ordinary wealthy people find difficult to provoke.
The heads of all the noble families on the continent of Oden are extraordinary people, and if the noble families do not have enough extraordinary people to maintain them, they will fall apart.
The situation of war, the rise and fall of nations, and the development and changes of the world have all been determined by the powerful forces of extraordinary people from ancient times to the present.
There is an insurmountable gap between extraordinary people and ordinary people in essence!
Irene walked into the rich man's yard nervously. In more than ten years, she had never seen the living conditions of rich and powerful people up close.
The courtyard was dotted with flower beds, fountains, sculptures and other landscapes, giving people a strong sense of art and a warm atmosphere. The servants around her cast respectful glances at her, and Irene almost couldn't breathe.
A few days ago, she was just an ordinary girl living outside the town, but now she has to pretend to be a superior extraordinary person.
Irene wore a black veil and an expensive black dress.
Just renting this suit for one day almost used up all the money that the three and a half people of the Fisher family had. The suit had a tight waist and soft, fine pleats on the neckline, which were divided into many layers.
The girl carefully felt the touch all over her body and found that the clothes worn by nobles and rich people were actually not as comfortable as the clothes she wore everyday.
Uncle Lucius saw that his niece Irene was extremely nervous and knew that it was normal. It was too stressful for a minor to do all this.
He immediately said, "Don't be nervous, it's no big deal, Irene. We are just facing a fat sheep who is extremely panicked and scared to death."
Irene always thought it was a bit strange to call people "fat sheep".
She nodded and said reluctantly, "What do I need to do?"
To be honest, after spending a few days together, Irene deeply felt that Uncle Lucius was indeed a very powerful person.
He seemed to care nothing about class, had no fear of anything, and had amazing execution abilities.
Lucius narrowed his eyes lazily and said half seriously and half jokingly: "Actually, what you need to do is very simple, that is, don't speak!"
Extraordinary people, especially spellcasters who possess healing powers, have a noble status, and ordinary wealthy businessmen often cannot get help from people of this level.
Carl's will was attached to the red mark on the back of Irene's hand, and he was also observing everything around him.
The rich man's residence in Nasir Town, it seems that this is where the Fisher family has the first pot of money they need.
He could easily determine that the man had been stung by some poisonous monster overseas and was infected with the magical poison.
Carl consumed his spiritual energy slightly, and the will he conveyed encouraged Irene to continue.
The girl was stunned for a moment, and then the hesitation in her heart disappeared and she became more determined.
The great Lord of the Lost protects me, and all difficulties will eventually be resolved, she murmured to herself.
The wealthy businessman John finally saw the healing spellcaster. He was lying on the bed, unable to move, but he still glanced over.
The girl in the black dress and veil looked extremely mysterious. Her face, which was partly visible under the veil, was extremely beautiful, like an incomparably noble treasure. It even made John feel ashamed and unable to look directly at her.
"Sir Spellcaster, please save me..." John pleaded weakly.
"I am a member of the Fisher family, and I am the young lady's uncle and spokesperson. I hope you can give us the compensation we need."
“Money is not a problem!”
John immediately screamed, like a hoarse-voiced ghost.
"In addition to money, we also need a trading channel for extraordinary materials!"
Most of the extraordinary materials are in the hands of the nobles and the church. John was silent for a while with his pupils shrinking slightly, but he nodded and said:
"As long as I can survive, I will agree to any conditions within my power."
Lucius was not surprised that the negotiations were successful, because the man was basically cornered and had no choice but to accept their terms.
Next comes the climax, and he doesn't know whether Irene can cure the man.
The Lord of the Lost is undoubtedly a great being, but how strong is the power He bestows?
Lucius didn't know, and even Irene herself didn't know.
She just walked over slowly without saying a word. John's eyes were full of longing, expectation, and even a hint of awe.
He is actually in awe of me?
For the first time in her life, Irene felt such a strange emotion.
Even I will be respected... by others?
She understood that the source of the man's awe was not herself, but a powerful force and the fate manipulated by the great Lord of Loss!
"You're going to be fine."
Since I have come according to His will, you will be saved.
Irene slowly stretched out her hand, an emerald green light of life flashing in her pupils, and a gentle, spring-like breath instantly covered the almost rotten man's body.
The treatment was completed in just over ten minutes.
The man's symptoms were sufficiently relieved that Irene felt that she could actually cure him easily, but Lucius had told her beforehand that if the disease could be cured, only half of it would be necessary.
Young Irene didn't understand why, but she still stopped according to her uncle's instructions.
"Hahahahaha! I, I survived!"
John was still very weak when he sat up again, but his eyes were shining with joy.
Lucius smiled and said politely, "We will not stay here today. Your illness still needs to be treated several times. As long as you pay us first, we will come back next time until it is cured."
When Irene and Lucius were escorted out of the rich man's yard by servants, they both looked a little confused.
On the way home from town, Irene asked her uncle in disbelief.
"Is that man crazy? He gave us five gold coins without hesitation. Those are gold coins, equivalent to one hundred silver coins, um, two thousand copper nars!"
Lucius was silent for a moment, then said, "I can probably understand what that guy is thinking. I'm afraid it coincides with my idea of pursuing long-term cooperation."
In fact, money is secondary. The lazy mercenary narrowed his eyes and looked at the box in his hand. After opening it, there was a fiery red object like coral inside, emitting a constant heat.
Fiery coral!
First-class extraordinary material!
Lucius' eyes were full of greed, as if he saw more extraordinary powers in the near future.
When Irene saw it again, she took a deep breath and smiled with relief.
"Great! We have successfully obtained a sacrifice to offer to the great Lord of the Lost!"
