The old principal touched the thick wad of money, his hands trembling, and hurriedly tried to return it: "What are you doing? Take it back quickly."
Xing Zhaozhao refused: "You can keep it and use it."
The old principal firmly disagreed: "No, that's too much."
Xing Zhaozhao insisted, "You should just keep it. I'm not giving it to you for nothing."
The old headmaster was taken aback: "What do you mean?"
Grandma Qin also looked at Xing Zhaozhao with surprise.
Xing Zhaozhao smiled and said, "I really like the fragrance in your room. The old principal said he knows how to blend perfumes, so I'd like to ask him to make some for me."
"You're going to use incense too?" the old headmaster said in surprise. Fearing she would misunderstand, he quickly added, "I didn't mean anything by it, but if you really use these things at this time, it might cause you trouble."
Xing Zhaozhao shook her head: "It's not me, I'm giving it to someone who can use it."
The old headmaster understood that she probably had some connections. After hesitating for a moment, he said, "It is possible, but all the spices I used to collect have been wasted, and I don't have much left. Even if you want them, I can't make many."
“It’s okay, just give me a list and I’ll go find them for you,” Xing Zhaozhao said.
The old headmaster seemed to have some concerns. He turned to look at Old Mrs. Qin, and seeing her nod slightly, he nodded and said, "Well... alright, I'll go and give you a list."
The old principal took out his long-unused pen and ink, went to the table next to him, and quickly wrote a list for Xing Zhaozhao. His beautiful small regular script was pleasing to the eye and exuded a faint fragrance of ink.
Once the ink had dried, Xing Zhaozhao carefully folded it and put it away.
"Oh, right, you can take this too." Xing Zhaozhao handed the cloth bag she had brought over to the old principal.
The old principal casually took it, and it was surprisingly heavy. When he opened it, he saw that it was rice, probably about ten pounds. There were also several small bags on top, one containing longan, another containing red dates, and a bag of White Rabbit candy.
"That won't do," the old headmaster still refused. "I've already taken your money, how can I take your things too? Take them back now."
Xing Zhaozhao refused to take it: "You can keep it. Even if you don't think about yourselves, you should think about Xiao Qinshi. If you're all gone, he's still so young. What will he do on his own in the future?"
The old principal immediately froze, unable to move.
Grandma Qin's eyes were also filled with tears.
Xing Zhaozhao patted Old Mrs. Qin's hand reassuringly, telling her to take good care of herself, and then got up and left.
As Xing Zhaozhao came out of the house, she saw that in the yard, with Fu Lan's help, Xiao Qinshi was packing the scrap metal piled up in the yard into sacks, probably preparing to send it to the scrap yard.
She rolled up her sleeves and went over to help.
Upon seeing this, Fu Lan smiled and asked, "Have you met Grandma Qin?"
Xing Zhaozhao nodded and patted Qin Shi's head beside her: "Qin Shi is really amazing. He can take care of the two elderly people at such a young age."
Xiao Qin kept a straight face and worked hard without saying a word, but the slight upturn of his lips completely betrayed his current mood.
Seeing his adorable expression, Xing Zhaozhao couldn't help but smile.
After helping Xiao Qinshi pack up all the recyclables in the yard, Xing Zhaozhao looked at the several large sacks in front of her, a sudden idea flashed into her mind, and she turned to ask Xiao Qinshi, "I have a business opportunity here, would you like to do it?"
Xiao Qin knew what business meant. Having business meant making money, and with money, he could pay for his grandmother's medical treatment. His eyes lit up as he looked at Xing Zhaozhao expectantly.
"When you go out to collect recyclables in the future, if you find any old, inconspicuous, broken bowls, bottles, or anything like that that no one wants and has left in a corner, try to bring them back to me. I'll pay you for them," Xing Zhaozhao said.
Xiao Qin's expression was somewhat indescribable: "..."
The old principal's family had always been a scholarly family. Although Qin Shi was only 8 years old, he had learned a lot under the old principal's influence and understood Xing Zhaozhao's plan in an instant.
"You're trying to snag a bargain?" Xiao Qin Shi blurted out.
Xing Zhaozhao: "..." I felt a little embarrassed that a child had seen through my thoughts so easily.
Fu Lan, however, remained completely bewildered: "Finding a bargain? What bargain?"
"I didn't expect you to know so much at such a young age." Xing Zhaozhao squatted down in front of Xiao Qinshi.
Xiao Qinshi squatted down in front of Xing Zhaozhao: "Fortunately, I come from a family with a long history of learning, so I know a little bit about it."
Fu Lan also squatted down next to them to join in the fun: "What are you talking about?"
Xing Zhaozhao: "..."
"Just tell me if you're going to do it or not," Xing Zhaozhao asked.
"How will the money be calculated?" Xiao Qin asked.
Xing Zhaozhao: "..." I didn't expect that the little guy who had been so quiet before would be so quick-witted when it came to business. I was wrong. No wonder he was able to soar to great heights over there, even though he had no grandparents to rely on and had become an orphan.
Xing Zhaozhao no longer underestimated him. After thinking for a moment, she held up two fingers: "I'll give you 20% after it's sold."
Xiao Qin shook his head and held up three fingers: "I want 30%. Besides, the chances of finding good stuff by just picking things up are slim. If you give me some more money, the chances of getting good stuff will be much higher."
After saying that, Xiao Qin Shi stretched out his hand to Xing Zhaozhao.
Xing Zhaozhao looked helplessly at the little guy and slapped a stack of ten-yuan notes into his little hand.
Xiao Qin's eyes lit up instantly. He quickly counted them and put them in his pocket.
Fu Lan watched from the side, completely dumbfounded.
What exactly are they doing?
"Where do you live? I'll bring it to you when I find it," Xiao Qin asked.
Xing Zhaozhao looked at his small frame and shook her head: "Forget it, I'll come find you. My home is in Xiaogaozhuang, which is a bit far from here. I don't trust you to come all that way to find me by yourself."
Fu Lan suddenly raised her hand and said, "I can take him." Although she didn't know what they were doing, she still wanted to get involved.
Xiao Qin agreed: "Then it's settled."
"Well... alright then." Since they had all made their decisions, Xing Zhaozhao had no choice but to agree.
Having met with Xiao Qinshi and the old principal, Xing Zhaozhao felt relieved and got up to take her leave.
Fu Lan saw her out.
When the old principal came out, he saw Xing Zhaozhao leaving: "Little Xing is gone?"
"Mmm," Xiao Qin replied and ran to his grandfather's side.
The old principal stuffed a White Rabbit candy into his mouth.
Xiao Qin hadn't had candy in a long time, and his eyes lit up as he asked, "Did Sister Xing give it to you?" His family simply couldn't afford White Rabbit candy now.
The old headmaster nodded: "She's a good person. When you grow up, remember to repay her kindness."
Xiao Qin patted the large bill in his pocket. "How about we reduce her commission by one percent?"
Xing Zhaozhao was about to leave immediately after leaving the old principal's house.
"Huh? Sister, didn't you come to see Sister Wan? Why are you leaving so soon?" Fu Lan asked curiously from behind.
Xing Zhaozhao paused in her tracks. She had almost forgotten.
