Chapter 111 What is the relationship?

Xing Zhaoming sat in Gao Mingcheng's ward for a while, talked with Gao Mingcheng for a bit, and then went back.

On the way back, Xing Zhaoming kept a straight face and didn't say a word.

The car was shrouded in a heavy, oppressive atmosphere, making both Chen Wei and Gao Yang afraid to even breathe.

Gao Yang finally breathed a sigh of relief after delivering Xing Zhaoming and Chen Wei home, and then ran away as if fleeing.

Chen Wei followed Xing Zhaoming home closely, gently tugged at his sleeve, and apologized, "I'm sorry, Zhaoming."

Xing Zhaoming forcefully pulled his sleeve away from her hand, sighed helplessly, and said, "This isn't the first time, Weiwei. Last time, she almost ruined the Gao family. Mingcheng originally didn't intend to let her off, but you came to beg me because your family and her husband's family are of the same clan, and your ancestors received favors from them and wanted to repay that favor. I agreed and specifically went to Mingcheng to ask him to let her go. At that time, we agreed to go our separate ways and not interfere with each other. But now? Again and again, and maybe even more. My patience has its limits, Weiwei."

After saying that, Xing Zhaoming left without looking back.

Watching Xing Zhaoming's departing figure, Chen Wei's eyes welled up with tears. Suddenly, as if she had made up her mind, she stomped her foot hard, gritted her teeth, and called out, "Lin Wan," before turning and leaving the house.

After leaving the hospital, Xing Zhaozhao returned to the place where she and Lin Wan were temporarily staying in Beijing, a quiet courtyard house in the middle of the city.

The house looked expensive. When Xing Zhaozhao first arrived, she was quite surprised, not expecting Lin Wan to have such a wealthy family background.

Only after asking Lin Wan did I learn that the house wasn't hers at all; it was borrowed.

To own a house like that and be able to lend it out to people so easily, one must not be an ordinary family.

Xing Zhaozhao was intentionally trying to find out about Lin Wan's connections in the capital. Knowing her and her enemy would give her an idea if any conflict arose in the future.

Unfortunately, Lin Wan kept her mouth shut this time and didn't reveal anything.

Xing Zhaozhao had no choice but to give up for the time being and look for another opportunity.

When Xing Zhaozhao returned to the courtyard house, Lin Wan was leisurely sitting in the courtyard, drinking tea and basking in the sun.

Seeing Xing Zhaozhao return, Lin Wan asked, "Went to the hospital again? How did it go? Is that old guy still waking up? Did you find anything else?"

Xing Zhaozhao shook her head: "It's the same as always. I was kicked out again after only a short while. What can I possibly gain?"

Lin Wan glared at her disdainfully: "You're really useless. Back in the day, I didn't spend much effort to make that kid Gao Hongfei bow down to me."

Hearing Lin Wan bring up past events again, especially those concerning her son, Xing Zhaozhao felt incredibly irritated and wanted to punch her.

"There's no other way. They've learned from your experience, so they're bound to be wary of me. How can I not put in some extra effort?" Xing Zhaozhao said.

Lin Wan didn't know what to say next.

Xing Zhaozhao returned to her room, and after a short while, she heard Lin Wan calling her.

Xing Zhaozhao quickly went over: "What's wrong?"

Lin Wan pointed to the gate not far from her: "Someone's here, go open the door."

Xing Zhaozhao: "..." It's just a few steps. Would it kill me to walk over and open the door?

Seeing her standing there motionless, Lin Wan glared at her and said irritably, "What are you standing there for? Hurry up and go."

Xing Zhaozhao had no choice but to go and open the door. When she saw the person standing outside, she was stunned: "Why is it you?"

The person who arrived was none other than Chen Wei.

When Chen Wei saw Xing Zhaozhao, her face revealed an undisguised look of disgust.

She knew that Xing Zhaozhao was dead, had been dead for many years, and could never come back. Those secrets were buried deep in the mud and could never be unearthed again. But every time she saw this face that looked so much like Xing Zhaozhao, she was still extremely agitated and wanted to completely disfigure that face.

Chen Wei gripped her bag tightly, enduring the urge to grab it with great difficulty.

"I'm looking for Lin Wan, is she here?" Chen Wei asked.

Xing Zhaozhao turned her head and pointed to Lin Wan, who was drinking tea in the courtyard: "Look, she's right there."

"..." Chen Wei was speechless. Her face darkened, and she strode inside. "I knocked on the door for so long, and you just stood there waiting?"

Lin Wan was surprised to see Chen Wei and quickly stood up: "What are you doing here? I thought it was someone else. What brings you here at this hour?"

"How dare you ask..." Chen Wei said angrily, then suddenly stopped, turned to look at Xing Zhaozhao next to her, and said to Lin Wan, "Let's find a place to talk first."

"Come with me." Lin Wan said, then turned and led Chen Wei into the house. As she left, she didn't forget to tell Xing Zhaozhao, "Go and make a pot of tea."

Xing Zhaozhao responded with an "Oh," closed the door, and went to the kitchen to make tea. Although her face remained calm, her heart was in turmoil: How did the two of them get involved?

On her way to the kitchen, she passed by Lin Wan's room. The door was ajar, and she could hear Chen Wei's angry roar coming from inside: "Are you kidding me? You know I don't like that face, yet you keep doing things like this to disgust me..."

Xing Zhaozhao paused involuntarily, glancing at the half-open door. Unexpectedly, she met Chen Wei's eyes, which were cold and filled with resentment as Chen Wei looked out from inside the room.

She didn't back down, but stared at her intently until the door slammed shut, completely blocking her view, before turning and leaving.

From the first moment Xing Zhaozhao met Chen Wei, she knew she didn't like her. However, she didn't care, as long as her brother liked her. She just didn't know when it started, but her initial dislike had turned into a deeper and deeper resentment. She didn't understand; because she disliked her, she had already tried her best to keep her distance from her and her brother—what more did Chen Wei want?

Xing Zhaozhao had brewed the tea and was about to deliver it to Lin Wan's room when the door opened by itself.

Chen Wei opened the door, stood in the doorway, turned her head and looked coldly at Lin Wan in the room, warning, "This is the last time. If you insist on making a scene until it gets out of control, don't blame me for being ruthless."

Lin Wan looked at Chen Wei and smiled faintly: "Are you sure? Then tell me, if I told General Xing about how Xing Zhaozhao repeatedly begged you for help back then, but you always turned a blind eye and let her be tortured to death, what would his reaction be?"

Chen Wei's eyes widened suddenly as she looked at Lin Wan, gritting her teeth: "You dare!"

Xing Zhaozhao stood outside with a cup of tea, completely unfazed.
