Chapter 60 looks just like someone

After passing through the door and returning to her familiar cellar, Xing Zhaozhao finally breathed a long sigh of relief.

I'm finally back.

I never expected this trip back to be so difficult. I'll have to be extra careful next time I go.

She casually put the things on the ground and hurried back into the house to check on the three little ones.

They haven't come back all day, and I wonder how they are doing now.

As soon as she entered, she smelled a rich aroma that made her mouth water, and her stomach, which hadn't eaten anything all day, started growling loudly.

The two little ones were lying on the table, staring at the large bowl with a lid on it, and didn't even notice their mother coming home.

"What are you doing?" Xing Zhaozhao asked.

The two little ones suddenly looked up at Xing Zhaozhao, only then realizing belatedly that their mother had returned, and immediately rushed over to her.

"Mom, you're finally back! We missed you so much all day! We were so worried about you, you know?" Hongyu said sweetly as always.

"Mhm." Hongfei nodded in agreement.

"Really?" Xing Zhaozhao glanced at the large bowl they had just been staring at.

I didn't see it.

"What is that?" Xing Zhaozhao asked.

"That? It's noodles." Hongyu said, and just as the time came, he went over and lifted the lid to show her.

A rich aroma wafted over, making her stomach rumble even louder.

She sat down without ceremony, picked up the chopsticks next to her, took a bite, and her eyes lit up.

Hmm, not bad.

"Where did it come from?" Xing Zhaozhao asked.

"Mom bought these last time," Hongyu said, opening his mouth wide. "Mom, let me have a bite."

That makes sense; these kinds of things are probably only available there now.

Xing Zhaozhao picked up some noodles with her chopsticks and was about to stuff them into Hongyu's mouth when she asked, "Mom hasn't come home all day. What have you all eaten?"

"Noodles," Hongyu said, his mouth agape.

Xing Zhaozhao paused in her movements: "These noodles? All day? Is there any left?"

Hongyu shook his head and counted on his fingers: "There were five bags in total. My brother and I each ate one bag at noon and one at night, so there's one bag left."

Without hesitation, Xing Zhaozhao stuffed the noodles she was about to put into Hongyu's mouth back into her own: "You've already eaten so much, this bag is mine."

Hongyu pouted, wanting to cry, but she held back in the end. She leaned over the table and looked into her bowl: "Then give me a sip of soup later."

Xing Zhaozhao: "..."

After eating and drinking her fill, Xing Zhaozhao went inside to see her daughter, whom she hadn't seen all day. The little girl was surprisingly well taken care of by her brothers and was lying on the kang (a heated brick bed), pouting and sleeping soundly.

After a long day of tension, Xing Zhaozhao finally relaxed as she leaned against her daughter. She drifted off to sleep, and in her hazy state, the image of the person's eyes when they met suddenly flashed into her mind—they looked exactly like someone…

Mingcheng?!

Just as Xing Zhaozhao was about to fall asleep, she suddenly woke up, sat up abruptly, and carefully recalled the person's appearance.

It's a pity that the woods were pitch black at the time, and apart from those bright eyes, she couldn't see any detail about the person. The figure was quite similar, though, but according to the timeline there, more than fifty years had passed. Mingcheng should be an old man by now, right? Even if he were still alive, could he still maintain such good skills?

Xing Zhaozhao chuckled and shook her head, then closed her eyes again and drifted off to sleep. Before losing consciousness, she was still wondering: what would Mingcheng look like as an old man? Would he have shrunk in size...?

Meanwhile, the police received a call from someone in the live stream. They arrived quickly, found the young men, and thankfully they were only knocked unconscious and had no other serious injuries.

However, the atmosphere at the scene immediately changed when they discovered Gao Mingcheng lying on the side.

This is the renowned General Gao, and he has actually fallen here. This is terrible!

More police officers were deployed, and the mountain was sealed off to search for the murderer.

Gao Hongfei, who was having dinner at home, suddenly received a call from the police. He immediately stood up, his expression serious.

"What's wrong?" Ying Rongrong asked from the side.

"Dad was attacked and is in the hospital now," Gao Hongfei said, picking up his cane and turning to leave.

"What?" Ying Rongrong was also shocked when she heard this. She quickly put down her chopsticks and got up to follow him.

Gao Lianzhou didn't even bother eating anymore and chased after them.

When Gao Hongfei and his group arrived at the hospital, Gao Mingcheng was still unconscious.

"Is my dad alright?" Gao Hongfei asked the on-duty doctor who rushed over.

"General Gao is mostly fine, he just suffered a severe blow to the head and may have a mild concussion. However, given his advanced age, it would be best to have a thorough medical check-up tomorrow," the on-duty doctor said.

"I understand." Gao Hongfei nodded, walked to the bedside, looked at his elderly father who was still unconscious, and said with a stern face, "You'd better not let me find out who did it..."

Gao Hongfei's gaze inadvertently swept over the screaming chicken in Gao Mingcheng's hand, and he frowned, asking, "What the hell is this thing?"

Gao Lianzhou curiously leaned closer to take a look: "Huh? Isn't this a screaming chicken?"

"What are these screaming chickens and screaming ducks?" Gao Hongfei turned to the nurse and asked, "Where did these things come from?"

"When General Gao was brought here, he was still clutching it in his hand. We tried to pull it off, but we couldn't," the nurse said.

"Really?" Gao Hongfei didn't believe it and tried to pull the screaming chicken out of Gao Mingcheng's hand, but he really couldn't pull it off.

Just then, Gao Mingcheng, who had been in a deep sleep, suddenly opened his eyes, sat up abruptly in bed, and cried out, "Zhaozhao..."

Ying Rongrong, who was standing nearby, clearly heard Gao Mingcheng call out the name and couldn't help but frown.

Could my usually rational father-in-law be making the same mistake as his son?

Gao Hongfei was both surprised and delighted to see Gao Mingcheng awake: "Dad, you're awake?"

Gao Mingcheng turned to look at Gao Hongfei, his eyes still filled with doubt: "What am I doing...?"

"Dad, have you forgotten? You were attacked in the mountains before? Do you remember who it was?" Gao Hongfei asked.

Gao Mingcheng quickly remembered and asked anxiously, "Where is the person I caught?"

Gao Hongfei was taken aback: "You didn't catch anyone?"

“But I clearly…” Gao Mingcheng looked down at his hand, then at the screeching chicken, and frowned, “What is this thing?”

He instinctively pinched it.

"Wow~"

"Great-Grandpa, do you also play with the Screaming Chicken?" Gao Lianzhou said with a smile. "What a coincidence! I also bought a Screaming Chicken today, but I gave it to Fairy Sister."
