Chapter 125 is right next door.

"Doctor, how is my wife?" Xing Zhaoming asked.

"You were too frightened. Initial examinations show there's nothing seriously wrong with your body. However, given your age, I recommend staying in the hospital for a couple of days for observation," the doctor said.

"Then let's stay here," Xing Zhaoming said without hesitation.

Xing Jiashu immediately completed the hospitalization procedures, and then together with Xing Zhaoming, they took Chen Wei to the ward.

Coincidentally, it's right next to Gao Mingcheng's house.

Xing Zhaozhao went out to buy something, and just as she came out of the ward, she saw Xing Jiashu coming out of the ward next door.

Xing Zhaozhao's eyes lit up: "Oh, isn't this my nephew?"

Xing Jiashu turned to look at Xing Zhaozhao, his lips twitched, and he didn't know what to say for a moment. It seemed like they didn't have that kind of relationship.

After a moment of silence, he reluctantly nodded to her and greeted her, "Hello."

Xing Zhaozhao is quite tolerant of her eldest nephew, even though he is now in his sixties. In her eyes, a child is still a child.

"Didn't you just leave? Why are you back?" Xing Zhaozhao greeted them with a smile and asked.

"Uh..." Xing Jiashu stammered, before he could say anything, Xing Zhaozhao glanced at the closed ward door behind him, her expression hardening, and asked, "What? Is someone in your family sick and hospitalized too?"

Thinking that he had just left with Xing Zhaoming and Chen Wei, Xing Zhaozhao's heart tightened, and she couldn't help but worry: "Could it be that your dad is sick?" She should have known better than to be angry with him just now. After all, he's not young anymore. What if something bad happens to him?

Xing Zhaozhao became increasingly worried and reached out to push the ward door behind Xing Jiashu.

“No, it’s my mom,” Xing Jiashu said.

Xing Zhaozhao's hand, which had just touched the ward door, paused instantly: "Oh, I see. Then it's alright."

"I have to go out for a bit, I'll be back later." She waved to Xing Jiashu, turned around and quickly walked away.

Xing Jiashu watched Xing Zhaozhao leave, scratched his head, and was a little confused about the situation.

She was just arguing with her dad, so why does it seem like she has more issues with her mother? They barely exchanged a few words.

In the ward, Xing Zhaoming heard the commotion outside and opened the door: "What's wrong? Who were you talking to just now?"

“I ran into my uncle’s neighbor,” Xing Jiashu said.

Xing Zhaoming frowned in disdain: "Ignore her."

"She might be coming over in a bit," Xing Jiashu added.

"No." Xing Zhaoming said, then slammed the door shut without any politeness.

Xing Jiashu: "..." I don't understand their relationship.

Chen Wei woke up and looked at the unfamiliar ceiling above her head, still a little confused.

"You're awake?" Xing Zhaoming's voice suddenly came from beside me.

Chen Wei jolted awake and sat bolt upright in bed: "Zhaoming?"

"Where is this?" she asked, looking around.

"The hospital. You suddenly fainted while you were on the phone earlier, don't you remember?" Xing Zhaoming said.

Thinking of that phone call, Chen Wei froze instantly. She forced a smile, covered her head, and stammered, "Is...is that so? My head is still a little foggy, I can't remember clearly."

"You just don't remember how you fainted? You haven't even forgotten who you were talking to on the phone and what you said, have you?" Xing Zhaoming asked.

Chen Wei was startled and abruptly looked up at Xing Zhaoming.

Xing Zhaoming looked at Chen Wei with sharp eyes: "I just got you to the hospital when I received a call from Hongfei. Lin Wan was caught in the mental hospital and was secretly making a phone call to you. I remember I warned you a long time ago not to get involved with her again. I will absolutely not allow something like what happened back then to happen again. Why didn't you listen?"

Chen Wei lowered her head and began to sob softly: "I didn't want to either. After you mentioned it to me last time, I went to see her and warned her, but she not only didn't listen, she also threatened me."

Xing Zhaoming narrowed his eyes slightly: "What can she threaten you with? What makes her dare to push her luck like this?"

Chen Wei paused, her hands unconsciously gripping the blanket in front of her tightly: "It's about Zhao Zhao."

A chilling aura immediately emanated from Xing Zhaoming: "Is there something else you've been keeping from me, Zhao Zhao?"

Chen Wei began to tremble involuntarily.

How could she dare tell him?

Chen Wei quickly shook her head and said, "How could I dare to hide Zhao Zhao's matter from you? You know what happened back then. Zhao Zhao was sent back to her hometown by my brother-in-law. I thought everything was arranged properly, so I didn't interfere much. Who would have thought that such a thing would happen? I was also very upset when I heard the news. No matter what, I am her sister-in-law. If I had just paid more attention, Zhao Zhao and her two children might have survived. Lin Wan is right, it's all my fault. If you hate me, resent me, or even leave me, that's all right."

"But I can't bear to," Chen Wei said, her eyes red as she looked at Xing Zhaoming. "We've lived a whole life together, and now you want to leave me? I'd rather be dead."

The chill that had been surging through Xing Zhaoming suddenly vanished.

"That's it?" He sighed helplessly, walked to the edge of the bed and sat down. Looking at his wife, who had been with him all his life and whose hair was now gray, he gently pulled her into his arms. "Do you think I'm stupid? That she'd doubt you just because of a few words of provocation? That wasn't your fault. Zhao Zhao is stubborn. Since we got married, I don't know why, she's become distant from me, her brother. But if she ever runs into trouble and is willing to write you a letter for help, I believe you would never ignore her, right?"

Chen Wei leaned against Xing Zhaoming's chest, her body trembling slightly involuntarily.

"Mmm," she responded softly, but she had already made up her mind that she absolutely could not let him know.

"Don't worry about Lin Wan anymore. Anyway, she'll be staying in the mental hospital from now on, so she won't be able to cause any more trouble," Xing Zhaoming said with his blessing.

Chen Wei nodded in agreement: "Okay."

However, thinking about what Lin Wan had mentioned about Xing Zhaozhao on the phone, she couldn't help but frown with worry.

Could something so mysterious really be true?

No way...

Just then, there was a knocking sound at the door of the ward.

"Come in," Xing Zhaoming said, releasing Chen Wei and sitting down to the side.

Xing Zhaozhao walked in carrying a fruit basket.

When Chen Wei saw that familiar face, she couldn't help but think of Lin Wan's words, and her face turned pale instantly.

Xing Zhaoming didn't notice Chen Wei's sudden change in expression. When he saw Xing Zhaozhao, he frowned and asked in an annoyed tone, "Why are you here?"

"I ran into my nephew at the door earlier and learned that my sister-in-law was sick, so I came to check on her." Xing Zhaozhao said, glancing at Chen Wei and noticing her unusually pale face. She couldn't help but wonder: She looks like she's quite ill.

Upon hearing the familiar terms "nephew" and "sister-in-law," Chen Wei's already unpleasant expression turned even more pale, and her body involuntarily trembled.

"What nephew, sister-in-law?" Xing Zhaoming scolded Xing Zhaozhao, then turned to see Chen Wei's pale face. He immediately stood up and asked worriedly, "What's wrong, Weiwei? Are you feeling unwell?"

"Get out." Chen Wei glared at Xing Zhaozhao, her face pale. "Tell her to get out. I don't want to see her."

After saying that, she wrapped herself completely in the blanket and began to shiver.

Not to mention Xing Zhaozhao, even Xing Zhaoming looked completely bewildered.

They were perfectly fine before, how come they suddenly seem to be possessed?
