Grandma Qin, the former principal, and Xiao Qin spent the morning at Xing Zhaozhao's house. After lunch, they sat for a while to digest their food before setting off back home.
Xing Zhaozhao was worried about the two elderly people and the child, so she personally took them back.
When they were almost at Dacheng Street, Old Mrs. Qin said to Xing Zhaozhao, "Since you're already here, why don't you come in, sit down for a while, have a cup of tea, and then go back?"
Xing Zhaozhao smiled and said, "Why don't we have dinner before you leave?"
Grandma Qin smiled and glanced at Xing Zhaozhao: "If you're willing, I'd love to. But if you leave after dinner, it'll be too late. I'm worried about you going home alone as a young lady. Why don't you stay another night?"
The two glanced at each other and then burst out laughing. If they kept dawdling like this, they'd never leave this world.
"Help! Murder!"
Just then, a pig-like scream suddenly came from Dacheng Street, and the sound sounded somewhat familiar.
The smiles on the faces of Old Mrs. Qin and Xing Zhaozhao instantly froze.
"This voice sounds like..." Old Mrs. Qin looked at Xing Zhaozhao in surprise.
Xing Zhaozhao frowned, quickly realized what was happening, and immediately ran towards the direction from which the sound came.
Grandma Qin waved to the old principal and young Qin Shi who were following behind, and quickly caught up with them.
On Dacheng Street, the doorway of Lin Wan's house was open, and Lin's uncle's family, along with their belongings, were all thrown out of the house by several tall and strong young men.
Uncle Lin was unwilling to give up and tried to rush in again, but he was rudely pushed out again and fell flat on his face.
Uncle Lin was somewhat self-aware enough to know that he couldn't win by force, so he simply started throwing a tantrum with his whole family.
"Help! Help! The Chen family is trying to kill us and steal our house!"
Adults and children alike, regardless of the food or drink, cried and made a fuss, creating quite a scene. Before long, it attracted the attention of many neighbors.
As more and more people gathered around, Uncle Lin's family became excited and started crying even harder.
The strong men in the Chen family were all young, and it was probably the first time they had ever seen such a scene. Faced with the pointing fingers and whispers of so many neighbors, they were a little overwhelmed.
Soon someone turned and went inside.
Not long after, a tall, upright man emerged from inside. He was dressed in a sharp Zhongshan suit, with a cold and stern face. His sharp gaze swept coldly over Uncle Lin's family, and their loud wailing immediately subsided. The chaotic crowd around them gradually quieted down as well.
As soon as Xing Zhaozhao saw this man, she knew he must be a soldier. Perhaps to avoid suspicion, he wasn't wearing a uniform, but she was very familiar with his figure. She had two people like him at home, and she could recognize them at a glance.
Perhaps sensing Xing Zhaozhao's gaze, the man frowned and looked directly in her direction.
The moment their eyes met, they both froze.
Xing Zhaozhao was certain that this was the first time she had met this man, but for some reason, she felt a strange sense of familiarity looking at his face, especially his eyes.
The Chen family...
Xing Zhaozhao's heart skipped a beat. She roughly knew who he was: Chen Hao.
Chen Hao stared at Xing Zhaozhao for a moment, a hint of doubt flashing in his eyes. He felt that she looked familiar, but he couldn't remember who she was, so he didn't think about it anymore and quickly put it out of his mind.
Chen Hao looked coldly at Uncle Lin and said, "Go back. If you continue to cause trouble here, don't blame me for calling the police to take you back."
"We're not leaving," Uncle Lin said stubbornly. "This is our house, what right do you have to kick us out? We're not leaving."
Aunt Lin and the others chimed in, "That's right, this is our house. Why should we leave? If anyone should leave, it should be you."
A hint of annoyance flashed across Chen Hao's face as he said, "This is Chen Dachuan's house, it has nothing to do with you."
“Who says it doesn’t matter? My daughter Awan and Chen Dachuan are husband and wife. My daughter Awan has a share in Chen Dachuan’s house. My daughter Awan’s house is our house,” Uncle Lin said.
His nonsensical argument left the onlookers speechless, and Chen Hao frowned in disgust.
Not wanting to get entangled with this scoundrel any longer, Chen Hao turned to the Chen family members beside him and said, "Go find the police."
“Even if the police come, I’ll say the same thing,” Uncle Lin shouted. “A great man said that women hold up half the sky. If women can hold up half the sky, why can’t they have half a house? If you dare to question the great man’s words, I’ll go to Beijing and report you. Don’t think you’re so great just because your family has high-ranking officials in Beijing. Every family has a few relatives who are officials in Beijing, including mine…”
Uncle Lin was shouting, his gaze inadvertently sweeping over the crowd of onlookers, when he suddenly bumped into Xing Zhaozhao, who was standing inside watching the commotion.
Uncle Lin's eyes lit up instantly.
Xing Zhaozhao's heart sank. This is bad.
