Chapter 296 Handle

When Dong Cang realized he might have been tricked and tried to go back, he found he couldn't get in. No matter how hard he smashed it, the glass door wouldn't budge. Furious, he kicked it hard one last time, then turned and left. As he left, he pointed at Xing Zhaozhao inside through the glass and said threateningly, "You just wait."

Xing Zhaozhao rolled her eyes and ignored her completely.

Dong Cang was furious. He had lived to be so old, and this was the first time a young man had ever been so arrogant towards him.

"General rank? Bah! I'll show you what kind of people hold the rank of general." Dong Cang was furious. He cursed and pulled out his phone from his pocket, found his sister Dong Cui's number, and dialed it.

Dong Cui did not answer.

"Damn it." A cold glint flashed in Dong Cang's cloudy eyes as he cursed and struck again.

Dong Cui still didn't answer.

Dong Cang was not giving up and attacked a third time.

This time, Dong Cui finally answered, her voice filled with impatience: "What? You keep calling and calling, it's so noisy."

"You think you're so great now, having found a son who married a rich woman, and you don't even respect me anymore? Don't forget I still have something on you," Dong Cang threatened.

Dong Cui immediately smiled apologetically, "How could that be, Second Brother? Please don't misunderstand. My eldest granddaughter went out with her mother just now, and I don't know what happened. She came back crying, and I was just trying to comfort her. Girls this age are especially hard to comfort. I had just calmed her down a little when you suddenly called, almost ruining my plans. That's why I was so angry."

Dong Cang's anger subsided slightly. He snorted and said, "That's for the best."

"What do you need me for?" Dong Cui asked.

Dong Cang then told Dong Cui what had just happened at Fu Hong's place.

Dong Cui scoffed dismissively and said, "Second brother, how can you be so stupid? You actually believe such a ridiculous lie? In the entire Lanyuan, apart from my good daughter-in-law's grandfather, there is absolutely no one else with the rank of general."

"That woman and Fu Hong were both so serious, they must have been completely fooled," Dong Cang said irritably, then asked, "By the way, didn't you say you were coming back to meet your in-laws? Have you set a time yet?"

"We just arrived last night and haven't had time to make arrangements yet. What's wrong?" Dong Cui asked warily.

“I’ll go with you then,” Dong Cang said.

"No." Dong Cui refused instinctively.

Dong Cang was displeased upon hearing this, his face darkened, and he said, "Why not? No matter what, I am the child's second uncle."

Dong Cui snapped out of her daze and said with a smile, "I was just worried that too many people would come to my house and scare them away."

“Besides you, it’s just me. Where are the crowds?” Dong Cang said, narrowing his eyes warily. He warned, “It’s rare to have a wealthy relative like this. You’re not thinking of keeping all the benefits for yourself, are you? Don’t even think about it. Let me tell you, if you dare to abandon me, I’ll go find my nephew and tell him that he wasn’t kidnapped back then. You sold him for 5,000 yuan.”

"You dare!" Dong Cui said through gritted teeth.

"You can try and see if I dare," Dong Cang said bluntly.

Dong Cui remained silent for a while before reluctantly speaking, "I understand. I'll let you know once the date is set."

Dong Cang was finally satisfied: "You should have agreed earlier. I'll wait for your call."

"Okay," Dong Cui said impatiently, and hung up the phone without waiting for a reply.

This time, Dong Cang didn't mind at all. He put away his phone, a smile spreading across his face. He was already dreaming about the day when he and his family would rise to prominence.

Xunlan Tea House.

Once Xing Zhaozhao was sure Dong Cang had left, she turned around and walked back to Fu Hong, smiling as she said, "Finally, things have calmed down."

"Yes, thanks to you, thank you." Fu Hong looked at Xing Zhaozhao, her eyes crinkling with a smile.

"There's no need for us to be so polite between us," Xing Zhaozhao said nonchalantly.

Fu Hong nodded and asked, "By the way, didn't you just say you needed to talk to me? What is it?"

"It's just..." Xing Zhaozhao was about to speak when her gaze inadvertently swept across He Shasha's face. Only then did she belatedly realize what was happening and froze on the spot. "Miss He? What are you doing here? Didn't you just say that something happened at home and you were going back?"

He Shasha smiled and pointed to Fu Hong and Dong Fanghua: "This is my maternal grandmother and my mother."

Xing Zhaozhao suddenly realized and laughed, "So Boss Fu is your maternal grandmother? What a coincidence!"

He Shasha nodded: "Yes, I didn't expect that Miss Xing was the one my mom has been talking about lately."

Xing Zhaozhao raised an eyebrow and turned to look at Dong Fanghua: "What? Did your mother say bad things about me?"

Dong Fanghua looked embarrassed.

Seeing Dong Fanghua in such an embarrassed state for the first time, He Shasha couldn't help but chuckle, trying to salvage some of her mother's face: "Well... it's not exactly bad talk, is it?" Although it certainly wasn't very pleasant to hear.

Xing Zhaozhao responded with an "Oh~~" in a drawn-out tone, as if she knew it all, which made Dong Fanghua blush slightly.

Fu Hong looked at Xing Zhaozhao, then at He Shasha, and asked in surprise, "What? You two know each other?"

He Shasha then told Fu Hong about her previous job interview at Zhaolan and how she met Xing Zhaozhao there.

Fu Hong nodded in understanding and instructed He Shasha, "Help them do their job well."

"Okay," He Shasha replied with a smile.

Xing Zhaozhao looked at He Shasha with a smile. She really hadn't expected that there would be such a coincidence, that after fifty years, this great-aunt and her grandniece would have the opportunity to work together again.

"Miss Xing?" Fu Hong asked, looking at Xing Zhaozhao.

Xing Zhaozhao snapped out of her daze, looked at Fu Hong seriously, and brought up the important matter that had brought her here: "Xiao Lan is worried about you."
