Chapter 339 We Must Get Our Hands

Dong Cang had been eyeing the treasure hidden by Fu Lan, and today, taking advantage of a spare moment, he came to town again to see if he could find an opportunity to steal it.

Unexpectedly, as soon as he arrived in town, he saw Liu Feiyue approaching Fu Lan and talking to her, seemingly up to something. Fu Lan immediately became anxious.

He approached Liu Feiyue before because he knew he didn't have the ability, so he had to ask someone else for help and get a little something in return. Now that Liu Feiyue is going to do it himself, there's nothing left for him, and he'll be at a huge loss.

As soon as Dong Cang thought about it, he immediately rushed over to greet them without thinking: "Hey? Brother Liu? Little Lan? What are you doing here?" No matter what Liu Feiyue was planning, he had to get a piece of the action.

Fu Lan glared at Dong Cang with disdain: "Get lost, who's your sister?"

Dong Cang smiled ingratiatingly, "Your sister is about to marry my brother, so we'll be relatives from now on. It's not wrong for me to call her 'sister,' is it? I was wrong about what happened last time. I shouldn't have touched your things so casually. My brother has already scolded me, and I apologize to you. I'm sorry, and I promise I won't do it again. I hope you won't take it to heart, otherwise, it'll be your sister who suffers in the end."

Fu Lan snorted and fell silent.

Although Liu Feiyue disliked Dong Cang, the thought of his connection with the Fu family stirred something within him, and he decided to make use of him. In the past two years, he had almost never failed to acquire anything he set his sights on. The only one who had caused him trouble was that boy from the Qin family, who had stolen his things several times. He and the girl from the Fu family were even in cahoots, so he had to get this tricolor horse from them to avenge his previous humiliation.

"Do you know this girl?" Liu Feiyue asked Dong Cang, pretending he knew nothing.

Dong Cang was quick-witted and soon realized what was going on. He cooperated with Liu Feiyue, nodding with a smile: "Yes, Brother Liu, she is my sister-in-law's younger sister."

“Since you know her, why don’t you talk to her and ask her to sell me that horse? She found it anyway, so she didn’t spend any money. Now you can even make a profit. Isn’t that great? It’s such a big thing. It doesn’t look good in a young girl’s room and it takes up a lot of space. Why bother?” Liu Feiyue pointed at the tricolor horse and said.

Dong Cang then realized that Liu Feiyue had taken a liking to the horse, but no matter how he looked at it, he couldn't see anything good about it. Just as Liu Feiyue himself said, it was not good-looking and took up too much space.

However, judging from Liu Feiyue's expression, he really wanted to do this favor, so he would still help him out and get more benefits from him later.

“Since Brother Liu wants it…” Dong Cang looked at Fu Lan.

"I said I wouldn't sell, and I won't. This is mine." Fu Lan said, snatching the tricolor horse from Gao Mingcheng's hands and holding it herself.

The horse was quite large, and Fu Lan almost lost her grip and fell off.

Both Gao Mingcheng and Liu Feiyue's hearts skipped a beat upon seeing this.

Liu Feiyue became even more determined to get his hands on the tricolor horse. If he left it in this girl's hands, it might get bumped or broken one day, which would be a waste of such a good thing.

“If you think ten yuan is too little, I can add two more yuan,” Liu Feiyue said, holding up two fingers.

Dong Cang's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets. He never expected this broken horse to be worth twelve yuan.

“Twelve yuan is a lot, sell it,” he said, trying to persuade Fu Lan.

Fu Lan ignored her completely: "I already said I'm not selling anymore, can't you understand human language?"

"How about you add a little more, Brother Liu? How about twenty yuan?" Dong Cang bargained with Liu Feiyue.

Seeing that Fu Lan really had no intention of selling, Liu Feiyue was afraid that if he succeeded, it would arouse suspicion, so he didn't continue to pester her.

He snorted coldly and said, "Twelve is the most you can offer. You want twenty? Do you really think this horse is some kind of treasure? Forget it, I don't want it."

After saying that, he turned around and left with Liu Erxi and Liu Sanchang, pulling the cart. As he left, he didn't forget to secretly wink at Dong Cang.

Dong Cang understood immediately, suppressed his excitement, turned to Fu Lan, and said regretfully, "Look, twelve yuan is gone. What a pity. It could have bought ten jin of meat."

"There's nothing to regret. Money can't buy what you love." Fu Lan said nonchalantly, then turned to Gao Mingcheng, "Brother-in-law, you go ahead and do your thing. I can go back by myself."

As Fu Lan spoke, she also gave Gao Mingcheng a wink.

Liu Feiyue thought he had concealed it well, but in fact, the look he gave Dong Cang just now was seen by Gao Mingcheng and Fu Lan, who had been keeping a close eye on him.

According to their previous plan, after Fu Lan brought the gold bracelet and the tricolor horse home, she was supposed to find a suitable opportunity to tell Dong Cang about them, and then lure Liu Feiyue over through Dong Cang. Unexpectedly, she encountered them as soon as she returned to town, and successfully attracted their attention, which saved a lot of time. They should be able to close the net soon.

Gao Mingcheng nodded almost imperceptibly, indicating that he understood.

He glanced worriedly at the tricolor horse that Fu Lan was holding: "Can you move it by yourself?"

"I can do it." Fu Lan said it all she wanted, but the tricolor horse she was holding was visibly sliding down.

Fu Lan: "..."

Gao Mingcheng: "..."

Dong Cang suddenly reached out and snatched the tricolor horse from Fu Lan's hand.

Fu Lan was startled and exclaimed, "What are you doing?"

Gao Mingcheng's face also darkened.

Dong Cang met Gao Mingcheng's sharp gaze and was so frightened that he shook his head quickly: "I didn't mean to do anything, I just wanted to help her carry the horse back."

Gao Mingcheng stared at Dong Cang without saying a word.

Dong Cang stood there trembling, not daring to move an inch. This man's eyes were too frightening; he couldn't afford to offend him.

"Is he really your sister's brother-in-law?" Gao Mingcheng turned to ask Fu Lan.

Fu Lan nodded.

"Then let him help you move it back," Gao Mingcheng said.

Fu Lan looked quite troubled, but still nodded in agreement: "Then... okay."

"Help her move her things back properly. If she tries anything funny, I know people in the police station. Be careful, they might arrest you and lock you up," Gao Mingcheng warned.

Dong Cang nodded hurriedly and agreed: "Don't worry, I will definitely help Xiao Lan move her things back properly." He wasn't stupid. If he dared to snatch the things that Brother Liu had his eye on in the street and caused trouble that he shouldn't have, wouldn't he be the one who would suffer in the end?

Gao Mingcheng then let them leave. However, he did not leave them to their own devices. He secretly followed them all the way to make sure that Dong Cang had indeed helped Fu Lan carry the tricolor horse home before turning around and leaving to carry out the task assigned to him according to their original plan.
