Hongyu looked at Gao Mingcheng and Xing Zhaozhao who came out of the door and pouted unhappily: "What were you two doing sneaking around in the room? You even closed the door."
"Yeah, what are you doing sneakily?" Ying Hongyi looked at Gao Mingcheng with a knowing smile.
Gao Mingcheng looked at Ying Hongyi, his eyes filled with complex emotions as he thought about what this kid might have escaped in his life.
Ying Hongyi felt inexplicably uneasy under his gaze: "W-why are you looking at me like that?"
Gao Mingcheng rolled his eyes at Ying Hongyi: "My daughter is still here, and in such a short time, what do you think I could do? You're full of bad ideas."
Ying Hongyi: "..." He was clearly capable of doing this himself, yet he turned around and accused others. Is there no justice in this world?
Wen Sinan glanced at him sideways and scolded, "Your head is full of bad ideas!!"
Ying Hongyi felt utterly wronged: "...No, wife, let me explain..."
Afterwards, Xing Zhaozhao and Gao Mingcheng took the children and Ying Hongyi's family into the mountains.
Gao Mingcheng carried his daughter on his back and led the way with Xing Zhaozhao.
Hongfei and Hongyu walked in the middle, holding hands with Rongrong, whom they had just met.
Ying Hongyi and Wen Sinan, a married couple, were at the back.
All along the way, you could hear Hongyu, that little chatterbox, rambling on and on: "My mom is amazing! She killed a huge wild boar with one punch..."
Little Rongrong was a kind-hearted girl, and she would occasionally exclaim in surprise, "Really... Aunt Xing is so amazing..."
Xing Zhaozhao walked ahead, listening to the little guy bragging about himself, and felt embarrassed. If there weren't outsiders present, she would have wanted to give this little guy some face and even use her lion's roar.
"That's it, that's it! That's where Mom hunted that big wild boar last time!" Hongyu, pulling Xiaorongrong and Hongfei along, suddenly passed Gao Mingcheng and Xing Zhaozhao and ran forward at breakneck speed.
The adults were startled and quickly gave chase. Sure enough, they arrived at a familiar clearing in the woods, the very place where they had first met Liu Feiyue and his group. They were surprised that the little guy remembered it.
They found a lot of wild vegetables around them and stopped to pick some.
Before long, Hongyu grabbed Xiaorong and Hongfei and ran off again: "Right here, we found a wild boar's den, and more than ten piglets..."
The adults quickly continued their pursuit.
Gao Mingcheng said with a stern face, "This kid is too good at running around and always comes up with something unexpected. We can't bring him into the mountains casually anymore, for fear that we'll lose him in the blink of an eye."
"Hmm." Xing Zhaozhao also had a headache. She had told her more than once, but the little thing simply wouldn't listen and would forget as soon as it turned its head. She had clearly been beaten quite a few times. She hoped it would get better when it got older.
"It really is an abandoned wild boar's den." Ying Hongyi initially thought the little guy was exaggerating, but it turned out to be true. He even curiously peeked inside for a look.
Wen Sinan was lucky; she found a clump of wild strawberries next to the wild boar's den and quickly called Xiao Rongrong and Ying Hongyi over to pick them together.
Seeing this harmonious scene, Xing Zhaozhao quietly took her phone out of Gao Mingcheng's pocket and took a picture.
Suddenly, they saw a strange flash of light beside them. Wen Sinan and Ying Hongyi turned around in surprise, only to meet Xing Zhaozhao's gaze.
Xing Zhaozhao met their eyes, pretended not to know anything, and waved to them.
Wen Sinan and Ying Hongyi, unsuspecting, smiled and waved to Xing Zhaozhao. Then they turned around, exchanged a puzzled look, and glanced up at the sunlight streaming through the dense canopy. They assumed it was just the sun suddenly peeking out from behind the clouds and didn't think much of it, continuing to pick wild berries.
Xing Zhaozhao hid behind Gao Mingcheng, quietly adjusted the camera, turned off the flash, and took a few more photos of Ying Hongyi's family before stuffing her phone back into Gao Mingcheng's pocket.
After Ying Hongyi and his family of three finished picking the wild strawberries, Xing Zhaozhao led them to the hot springs.
The three of them were overjoyed, like mice that had fallen into a rice jar. Little Rongrong was lucky; she even found a ginseng root, which, although not very old, was still worth a lot of money.
Wen Sinan felt embarrassed, since it was someone else who discovered the place, and it felt like she had stolen something from them.
Xing Zhaozhao didn't seem to care: "This isn't my first time here. I couldn't find it before, which means it's not meant to be."
Wen Sinan then left the things behind.
Ying Hongyi and his family stayed at Xing Zhaozhao's place for three days. When they left, they were so happy they didn't want to leave: "The mountains here are so nice. There are so many things here. It's like a treasure hunt."
"Then I'll come often from now on," Xing Zhaozhao said with a smile.
"Okay," Wen Sinan agreed verbally, but didn't really take it to heart. Such an opportunity was rare, and it wouldn't be easy to find another one like it in the future.
Xing Zhaozhao was quite certain in her heart; they were going to be in-laws in the future, and such opportunities would be easy to find.
On the day Ying Hongyi and his family of three left, Xing Zhaozhao and Gao Mingcheng personally saw them off at the train station platform with the children.
Hongyu was reluctant to part with Rongrong, whom he had just become acquainted with: "Will we ever see each other again, Rongrong?"
Xiao Rongrong is a serious child and doesn't dare to make promises lightly, so she turned to her parents for help.
"Definitely." Ying Hongyi patted Hongyu's little head and said with certainty.
Xing Zhaozhao raised an eyebrow, unable to help but wonder if he was also up to something, and said with a smile, "Don't just coax the kids, they'll take it seriously."
“I wasn’t lying to him. Everything I said was true. Doesn’t your sister-in-law know? Didn’t Mingcheng tell you?” Ying Hongyi asked.
Xing Zhaozhao was taken aback, turning to look at Gao Mingcheng in surprise. What do you mean? What are you hiding from me?
