Chapter 286 Aren't you already dead?

Jing Sa looked at her son, her eyes quickly filling with tears again.

"Aze," she called out, her voice choked with emotion, as she stepped forward to hug her son.

Ling Ze dodged away, his face stern as he looked at Jing Sa: "Aren't you already dead?"

Jing Sa shook her head: "I'm not dead..."

"You're not dead, so why didn't you come back? Don't you want me anymore?" Ling Ze's eyes were red, and he looked stubborn.

Jing Sa was already sobbing uncontrollably: "I didn't, it's just..." She didn't know how to explain it to him. After nearly ten years of separation, for a child who had never seen her mother, no matter what explanation she gave, it all seemed pale and powerless.

“Back then, it was your uncle who forcibly took her away; she didn’t want to,” Ling Xiao explained to his son on behalf of his wife.

Ling Ze shook his head, refusing to accept it: "It's been almost ten years. If she really wanted to come back, I don't believe she really wouldn't have a chance."

“No…” Ling Xiao tried to explain, but Jing Sa stopped him.

Jing Sa sniffed and shook her head at Ling Xiao: "Forget it, Aze is right. It's been ten years. If I want to find an opportunity, I can still find one. I was just too weak."

With red eyes, Ling Ze looked at Jing Sa with a wronged expression: "Since you don't want me, then I don't want you either." After saying that, he immediately turned around and rushed out.

"Aze..." Jing Sa panicked and tried to chase after him, but she had been taken away right after giving birth. She was filled with fear and worry, and she was always thinking about her child. She was depressed and fell seriously ill as soon as she arrived in Hong Kong. Her health had never been good since. She returned to the mainland with Ling Xiao, eager to see her son. She had been rushing all the way, and her body was already a little weak. She had just experienced a great emotional ups and downs. She hadn't run two steps when the sun outside hit her and she suddenly felt dizzy and fell forward.

Startled, Ling Xiao quickly hugged her, asking, "Sa Sa, are you alright?"

Jing Sa's vision was still black, and she reached out and grabbed at things haphazardly: "I'm fine, I'm going to find Aze, where is Aze?"

Seeing that Jing Sa's face was frighteningly pale, Xing Zhaozhao looked at the worried Ling Xiao and said, "She must have fainted from the sun. Let's take her to the kang (heated brick bed) inside to lie down first. I'll go find Aze."

Ling Xiao looked at Xing Zhaozhao apologetically and nodded: "I'm sorry to trouble you again."

"It's nothing." Xing Zhaozhao smiled nonchalantly, gave Fu Lan a wink, signaling her to take the person inside, and then turned to go find Ling Ze.

Xing Zhaozhao found Ling Ze in the woods on the mountain, not far from the path that villagers often took to gather firewood in the mountains. He was sitting on a tree stump. She saw him at a glance as she passed by, as if afraid that the person coming would not be able to find him.

Xing Zhaozhao couldn't help but chuckle, and walked straight over, wading through the grass, making a "whoosh" sound.

Ling Ze seemed not to hear, sitting there motionless until he got close, at which point he seemed to suddenly realize what was happening, straightened his back, and turned to look at him.

Upon seeing that it was Xing Zhaozhao, a hint of disappointment flashed in the little one's eyes, and he called out, "Aunt Xing."

Xing Zhaozhao held back for a while, but couldn't help it, and asked with a smile, "What? Are you disappointed to see that it's me? Didn't you want to be one of our children? If it's not me, who did you want to see?"

Caught in the act, Ling Ze blushed slightly, his little face flushed with embarrassment. He twisted his body awkwardly, still denying it: "I didn't."

Afraid of making him run away again, Xing Zhaozhao went along with him and said, "Okay, if you say no, then no."

She sat down on the ground beside the little guy and gently hugged him: "Didn't you always think about and long for Mommy, even dreaming about her? Why are you unhappy now that Mommy's back?"

Ling Ze pouted, "I thought she was dead before."

Xing Zhaozhao raised an eyebrow slightly: "Isn't it better to be alive? Would you be happy if she really died?"

Ling Ze's face paled, and he shook his head vigorously: "...But she's clearly alive, yet she doesn't come back. Doesn't that mean she dislikes me and doesn't want me anymore?"

Xing Zhaozhao patted the little guy's shoulder: "If she really didn't want you anymore, she wouldn't be back now. Do you know where she lived before?"

Ling Ze turned to look at Xing Zhaozhao and shook his head blankly.

“In Hong Kong Island,” Xing Zhaozhao said. “Your maternal grandfather’s family does business there. They live in a big house, have cars, and servants to take care of them. They live much more comfortably than we do now.” These were things that Xing Zhaozhao heard Grandma Jing and Ling Shuang mention when she was there.

"Tell me, why would she choose to come back when there are good days available?" Xing Zhaozhao asked Ling Ze earnestly.

Ling Ze's face was full of struggle. After a moment of hesitation, he still stubbornly insisted, "But...but she never comes to see me. She doesn't care about me..."

Xing Zhaozhao: "..." This difficult little princess.

"She was just about to come out to find you when she fainted. Your father said that she has always been in poor health and was in a hurry to come back to find you. She had been traveling day and night and was exhausted," Xing Zhaozhao explained.

"What?" Ling Ze was startled and immediately stood up from the tree stump, turned around and ran back.

Xing Zhaozhao quickly got up and followed.

Ling Ze rushed home, and looking at the empty main room, a chill ran through him. Where was he? Had he already left? Had he really abandoned him?

Tears began to well up in her eyes.

Fu Lan happened to come out of the inner room and saw Ling Ze. Her eyes lit up: "Aze is back?!" After saying that, she immediately called into the room, "Aze is back."

Ling Ze was heartbroken and stared blankly at Fu Lan. Before he could react, he heard a series of hurried footsteps coming from the inner room. He thought Ling Xiao and Jing Sa, who had already left, appeared at the door.

With tears still in his eyes, Ling Ze saw Ling Xiao and Jing Sa and couldn't help but open his mouth wide in surprise: "You...you didn't leave?"

A smile appeared on Jing Sa's pale face: "You're still here, how could we leave?"

Ling Ze burst into tears, calling out "Mommy!" and rushed over to hug Jing Sa tightly.

After many years, when she held her son again, Jing Sa couldn't hold back her tears any longer, and they streamed down her face. She hugged the little one tightly in her arms and refused to let go for a long time.

"You little rascal, you're pretty fast..." Xing Zhaozhao entered the room panting, but upon seeing the scene inside, she wisely shut her mouth.

Hongyu came out of the kitchen with a glass of cool boiled water. Seeing her mother's face, which was red from the sun, she ran over and said, "Mom, have some water."

Xing Zhaozhao hugged her son tightly and kissed him hard: "My good son."
