Chapter 176 A Gift from My Brother

Xing Zhaozhao didn't expect that the father and son she had just disciplined would start making a fuss again. As soon as she returned to the cellar, she heard a series of hurried footsteps outside. She knew immediately that the two little ones had come, so she didn't hide.

Soon, the two little ones came down from outside, their eyes sparkling as they looked at Xing Zhaozhao and asked, "Mommy, Mommy, is Daddy here?"

Xing Zhaozhao smiled and patted their heads, asking, "How did you know it was Daddy who came?"

Hongyu, mimicking Xing Zhaozhao's earlier manner, winked at her and said, "It's obviously a little secret that belongs only to us. What else could our little secret be besides the cellar? And Mom took two big jars of dumpling soup with her. She must have gone to have breakfast with Dad."

Xing Zhaozhao glanced at Hongfei beside her: "It's not just Dad, there's Dafei too."

"Huh?" Hongfei looked at Xing Zhaozhao with a blank expression, wondering why his mother had suddenly brought him up. Just as he was about to ask her for details, Hongyu suddenly exclaimed, "Wow, what are all these?"

Hongfei curiously peeked over and discovered that there were many more things in the cellar, which must have been brought back by his mother.

"Did Dad give it to me again?" Hongyu asked excitedly.

Xing Zhaozhao patted Hongfei's head beside her: "It was a gift from my brother."

"Brother?" Hongyu looked at Hongfei.

Hongfei looked at Xing Zhaozhao with a completely bewildered expression.

“My brother from that world,” Xing Zhaozhao said.

Hongfei and Hongyu's eyes lit up simultaneously.

"Does that world have older brothers too?" Hongyu leaned closer to Xing Zhaozhao and asked in surprise.

Hongfei stood aside, looking at Xing Zhaozhao with a curious expression.

Xing Zhaozhao said with a smile, "In that world, there is a father, and of course, there is an older brother."

"What about me? What about me? Am I even on the list?" Hongyu asked Xing Zhaozhao expectantly.

Xing Zhaozhao's heart tightened, her eyes flickered, and she patted his little head, saying, "Of course there are little feathers too."

Hongyu jumped up happily and continued to ask, "Mom, Mom, what will I look like when I grow up?"

Without thinking, Xing Zhaozhao said, "Just like Dad, tall and strong, wearing a green military uniform, so dashing."

Hongyu was overjoyed: "I knew it, I knew it! I really want to see what I'll look like when I grow up!"

"We definitely won't see you now; you'll have to wait until you grow up," Xing Zhaozhao said with a smile.

Hongyu said with a regretful look, "It's a pity that I broke your phone before, Mom, otherwise you could have taken a picture for me."

Xing Zhaozhao's heart skipped a beat, and she instinctively clutched her phone tightly in her pocket. She had to hide it well; otherwise, if the little guy saw it, it would be troublesome.

Fearing that Hongyu would continue to press her for answers and she wouldn't be able to handle it, Xing Zhaozhao quickly divided the things Gao Hongfei had bought among them and let them play with them: "This pile is for Xiaoyu, this pile is for Dafei, and the rest are for Xiaohongling and Mom. You can take them and play with them yourselves. As always, you are not allowed to take them out and let others see them."

"Okay." The two little ones nodded in agreement.

Hongyu took a ball out of a bag, bounced it twice with interest, then casually put it aside and pulled over another bag.

"Oh, right, Mom." He suddenly remembered something, looked at Xing Zhaozhao, and said, "Dad and my brother bought us gifts, why didn't I buy us any?"

Xing Zhaozhao was momentarily confused by his words before she realized what he meant. She stammered, unsure how to answer, and simply replied, "Maybe...maybe he's busy?"

"Really?" Hongyu looked incredulous. "You have time to come see Mom, how could you not even have time to pick out a gift? Next time you see me, tell me not to be so stingy. How did I, such a generous child, grow up to be such a stingy adult? You've embarrassed me in front of my brother."

Xing Zhaozhao: "..."

Hongfei: "..."

Hongyu waited a while, but Xing Zhaozhao didn't say anything. He looked over curiously and asked, "Mom? Did you hear that?"

Xing Zhaozhao snapped out of her daze and stiffly forced a smile: "Okay, okay, I'll tell you when I see you."

"Thank you, Mom." Hongyu's previous harshness vanished, and her little mouth became sweet again.

The faint sound of Xiao Hongling's loud crying could be heard from the front room. Xing Zhaozhao's expression hardened, and she immediately got up and left: "I'll go check on my sister first. You guys have fun."

"Okay." The two little ones nodded obediently in agreement.

Gao Hongfei prepared only children's toys for Hongyu, since little Hongyu had passed away early and Gao Hongfei's memories of him were only from when he was a child.

He gave himself a whole bunch of realistic military models according to his own preferences, ranging from small pistols and grenades to large airplanes and cannons, including both domestic and foreign models. They were very cool, and Hongyu was so envious that he eagerly leaned over and said, "Brother, I want to play too."

Hongfei was very generous and nodded: "Okay, take whatever you like."

Hongyu happily shoved one over, then started muttering to himself, "My brother is so good, he knows how to think of me. I'm so useless, I don't even think of myself."

Hongfei's lips twitched. He opened a box containing a tank model and was surprised to find a letter inside. He quickly opened it, glanced at it, his face changed slightly, and he quickly hid the letter.
