Chapter 82 What a load of bullshit fate!

"Sister Wan?" Xing Zhaozhao narrowed her eyes slightly upon hearing this address.

Could it be...?

The old lady looked at Xing Zhaozhao in shock and slowly stood up.

Xing Zhaozhao took a look and realized it really was an older version of Lin Wan. What kind of crazy fate was this? She could run into her anywhere.

Fu Hong pulled Xing Zhaozhao in front of Lin Wan: "Sister Wan, look, doesn't it look just like her?"

Lin Wan grabbed Xing Zhaozhao and quickly looked her up and down with her shrewd eyes. She nodded and said, "She looks just like me when I was young. She's practically a carbon copy of me."

Xing Zhaozhao: "..." I feel a little disgusted and don't want to be like her.

“If your family hadn’t never lost a child, I would have suspected that your family had lost one before,” Fu Hong said with a smile.

A glint flashed in Lin Wan's eyes, and she said, "It's not impossible." It can be overlooked.

"Huh?" Fu Hong stared blankly at Lin Wan, not immediately understanding what she meant.

Lin Wan, holding Xing Zhaozhao's hand, smiled kindly and asked, "What's your name, little girl? Where do you live?"

Xing Zhaozhao looked at Lin Wan and smiled innocently: "My name is Xing Zhaozhao, and I live in the mountains."

Lin Wan's smile froze. Why did she have such an unlucky name? Could it be the legendary reincarnation? But if it really is reincarnation, that's not so bad. She was reincarnated into a poor, desolate mountain village. She deserves it, since she's been haunting us for so many years.

"So it's Zhao Zhao." Lin Wan gritted her teeth as she said "Zhao Zhao," clearly seething with resentment, but she maintained a kind smile. "I never thought that at my age, I could find someone who looks so much like me. What a coincidence! How about we become godparents?"

Xing Zhaozhao tilted her head to look at Lin Wan and said, "Do we look alike? No, we don't, do we? I don't have this many wrinkles on my face."

Lin Wan's smile froze instantly, unable to hold on any longer, and she gripped Xing Zhaozhao's hand tightly. This child is utterly unlovable; no wonder she's named Xing Zhaozhao—she can't even rest in peace.

"Ouch!" Xing Zhaozhao cried out in pain, forcefully pulling her hand back from Lin Wan's grasp. "You pinched me too hard, old lady."

"Let's forget about the godparent thing, we're not that close." Xing Zhaozhao said, looking at Fu Hong who was standing there blankly, "Excuse me, Ms. Fu, I have an appointment to meet someone here."

Fu Hong quickly came to her senses: "Oh, how many of you?"

Xing Zhaozhao thought for a moment: "It should be three people."

Fu Hong then called over a waiter and helped Xing Zhaozhao find a seat.

Turning her head, she saw Lin Wan staring at Xing Zhaozhao with a very unpleasant expression, so she smiled and advised, "Never mind, Sister Wan, she's just a girl from the mountains, she just speaks a bit bluntly, don't take it to heart."

Lin Wan looked coldly at Xing Zhaozhao, snorted, and said, "I'm going to stick with her. She doesn't want to acknowledge me as her godparent, but I'm going to do it anyway. I don't believe that she, a country girl who has seen the outside world, can withstand it."

Seeing Lin Wan's insistence, Fu Hong felt somewhat helpless but didn't know what to say.

Lin Wan stared intently at Xing Zhaozhao, already calculating in her mind.

If she doesn't turn the Gao family upside down this time, she's not a Lin.

Xing Zhaozhao ignored Lin Wan's glare and leisurely sipped the tea the waiter brought her. It was actually quite delicious.

Just then, three elderly gentlemen arrived outside.

Xing Zhaozhao immediately spotted Mr. Lu walking at the front, with Zhou Huaixi beside him. Zhou Huaixi looked unwell and depressed, and she wondered if something had happened. The last one left was the one who wanted to see Xing Zhaozhao, who was also the youngest of the three, probably around fifty or sixty years old.

Xing Zhaozhao recognized those eyes immediately; they belonged to the old principal's grandson, the boy who had bumped into her at the scrap yard before.

Upon seeing the person who had arrived, Fu Hong quickly went to greet them: "A-Shi, what brings you here?"

Qin Shi, the old principal's grandson, looked at Fu Hong and called out with a smile, "Sister Hong, I have an appointment to meet someone here to discuss some things."

When Lin Wan saw Qin Shi, she smiled and said, "It's been a long time, Shi."

Qin Shi glanced at Lin Wan, his smile fading slightly, and nodded faintly.

Lin Wan didn't care; Qin Shi had always treated her this way.

Fu Hong, however, couldn't help but lightly punch him when she saw this. After all, he had helped him when he needed it before, so how could he treat him like this?

Qin Shi smiled faintly and remained silent. There were some things he couldn't say without evidence, but he couldn't be completely without reservation either.

"Has the person you invited arrived? Do you want to go to your usual private room?" Fu Hong asked.

Qin Shi didn't recognize Xing Zhaozhao either. He looked at Old Master Lu and saw that Old Master Lu had already led Zhou Huaixi toward a plain-looking girl sitting by the window not far away.

It was her?

Qin Shi was somewhat surprised and turned to look at Fu Hong: "No need, Sister Hong, she has already arrived."

Fu Hong glanced at Xing Zhaozhao and asked in surprise, "You actually know that Miss Xing?"

Qin Shi shook his head: "This is the first time I've seen her either." Then he asked, "Does Sister Hong know her?"

Fu Hong shook her head: "We just met. Didn't you notice how much she looks like Sister Wan when she was young?"

Qin Shi looked at Xing Zhaozhao again, frowned, and suddenly felt a little uncomfortable.

"What is their relationship?" Qin Shi asked.

"It's alright. But Sister Wan wants to become her godparent," Fu Hong said.

Qin Shi glanced at Lin Wan, who was sitting to the side leisurely drinking tea, and his brows furrowed even more.

What is she planning now?
