“She wants 100 million in cash. There’s no way we can raise that much cash in a short time,” Gao Hongfei said helplessly.
"Besides, 100 million in cash would weigh a ton. Even if you managed to gather it all, you wouldn't be able to carry it," the policeman next to him said.
Xing Zhaozhao glanced at him: "That's hard to say."
The police officer, remembering the mug she had crushed earlier, wisely chose to remain silent.
“However, she definitely won’t get it,” Xing Zhaozhao said confidently.
After saying that, she couldn't help but complain again: "Does she have no idea how heavy 100 million gold is? She thinks she can get more, so she keeps adding numbers without looking at the actual situation. She's so stupid."
Gao Hongfei's assistant, Xiaobai, brought over two large, bulging suitcases.
"Here's ten million. That's all the cash we've raised so far," Gao Hongfei said to Xing Zhaozhao.
Xing Zhaozhao stared at the two large suitcases for a moment, then opened them and emptied them of all the money inside.
"Mom, what are you doing?" Gao Hongfei asked, puzzled.
“Anyway, she can’t take it with her. She’ll have to go through all the trouble of carrying it back later. It’s too much trouble.” Xing Zhaozhao said, staring at the two suitcases. She felt they were too empty and said to her assistant, Xiaobai, “Get me two sheets of paper and a pen.”
The assistant, Xiaobai, was puzzled and brought her two sheets of A4 paper and a marker.
Xing Zhaozhao took a pen and wrote two words, "100 million," on a piece of paper. She wrote the same thing on another piece of paper and then casually tossed it into her suitcase: "Give her an extra 100 million. You're welcome."
The people around: "..."
Xing Zhaozhao carried two suitcases, went out the door, and headed straight for the helicopter that was not far away.
The other members of the Gao family followed along, not feeling at ease.
Xing Zhaozhao patted Gao Yue's worried head and comforted her with a smile, "Don't worry, I will bring Xiaoyue back safely."
Gao Yue was taken aback when Xing Zhaozhao patted her head, but for some reason felt inexplicably at ease. She nodded and said, "Thank you for your help."
Xing Zhaozhao boarded the helicopter and headed straight for the abandoned factory in the suburbs.
This abandoned factory used to be a chemical plant, but it was relocated a few years ago due to pollution. All that's left are some empty, dilapidated factory buildings. There's a very large parking lot in front of the factory buildings, where helicopters are parked.
Xing Zhaozhao was about to get off when the driver stopped her.
Looking at Xing Zhaozhao's petite and delicate appearance, the driver was a little worried and said, "Why don't I go instead, just in case something goes wrong?"
Xing Zhaozhao laughed and said, "She specifically asked me to come. What if she won't come out if I don't go?"
The driver stammered.
Xing Zhaozhao looked him up and down: "You must be the best one in your unit, right?"
The driver was taken aback. She actually figured it out? He was the best soldier in their unit, and the commander had specially sent him over when he heard that the old general had a mission here.
“He doesn’t look any worse than our Mingcheng,” Xing Zhaozhao said.
The driver looked embarrassed, his already bronze skin darkening even more: "I'm still far from being as good as the old general."
“There’s a chance we can catch up.” Xing Zhaozhao leaned over and patted his shoulder, saying, “Don’t worry, the other party is an old lady who is almost seventy years old. It would be a waste of your talents to use you. You might even accidentally hurt her. I’ll do it.”
After saying that, she picked up two suitcases, turned around decisively, jumped off the helicopter, and looked around for Dong Cui's whereabouts.
However, it couldn't be found anywhere.
She checked the time; it was almost time. Just as she was hesitating whether to search further inside, she suddenly heard the helicopter pilot remind her, "We're here."
Xing Zhaozhao turned her head and saw a figure running from the factory building diagonally opposite. Upon closer inspection, it was indeed Dong Cui.
Dong Cui cautiously observed her surroundings and quickly walked up to Xing Zhaozhao: "Are you alone?"
Xing Zhaozhao shook her head and pointed to the helicopter: "There's a pilot up there. If you're asking the police, you're not too stupid. It will take them at least fifteen minutes to get here."
Dong Cui sneered dismissively: "If what I did is stupid, then what about those police officers who couldn't find me no matter how hard they looked?"
The police officers who were driving over sneezed repeatedly, sensing something was wrong; it sounded like someone was cursing at them.
"Where is Xiaoyue?" Xing Zhaozhao asked.
“I’ll tell you once I’ve got the money and arrived at a safe place by helicopter,” Dong Cui said, reaching out her hand to ask, “Give me the money.”
Xing Zhaozhao refused: "Bring Xiaoyue here first, otherwise how can I be sure she's alright?"
"Then you can only pray. I won't tell you anything until I get the money and reach a safe place." Dong Cui refused to budge, and the two maintained a certain distance, facing off.
Xing Zhaozhao narrowed her eyes slightly, hesitating whether she should just take the person down first.
Dong Cui seemed to have seen through Xing Zhaozhao's plan. She took out a dagger from her pocket, held it to her neck, and warned her, "I advise you not to make any rash moves. Anyway, I'm old and have no life left. If I die, I die. But if I die, you don't know where Xiaoyue is or what will happen in the end. You'd better keep that in mind."
A cold glint flashed in Xing Zhaozhao's slightly narrowed eyes. After hesitating for a moment, she asked, "Then tell me first, why did you specifically choose me to deliver the ransom?"
Dong Cui grinned, revealing a meaningful smile, and beckoned to her, saying, "Give me the suitcase with the money first, and I'll tell you."
Xing Zhaozhao hesitated for a moment, then slowly approached and gently handed her a suitcase.
Dong Cui grabbed the handle of the suitcase, slammed her face close to Xing Zhaozhao, and said with a sinister smile, "I saw you buying jewelry at the gold shop that day. You were so extravagant, paying with a black card. I hate it so much! Why is it that we're all the same people, but you live so much better? I just want you to die..."
Before she could finish speaking, Dong Cui, with a sinister look on her face, brandished her dagger and stabbed it forcefully towards Xing Zhaozhao's neck.
